The book I am reading is called The New Spend Less Revolution by Rebecca Ash. I got it cheaply on ebay, but it would probably have been more money-saving to have borrowed it from the library...
It can feel rather political and a bit fervent in places, but very thought provoking reading. It also has 365 tips to save money, nothing that new to be honest but all helpful affirmation of what we are already trying to do.

    Mine for today:

    1. Another beautiful sunny day.

    2. DD feeling better today (was off school yesterday) so OH and I went to Swindon shopping outlet village. I found several end of term presents for the kid's teachers and a couple of Christmas prezzies to put away in my cupboard.

    3. The postman brought the 3 Wild Olive soaps (from freebies low spend board). They are much larger than expected and smell gorgeous! I would recommend anyone to give the £1.99 offer a go.

    4. England won the footy! Thank God for that.

    5. Had a good long walk around the field with DD after tea. Am in rather late training for Race for Life on Sunday.

    Good evening everyone! :)

    5 (or so) for today!

    1) Had a good go through my paperwork, took some down to mum and dad's so they can burn it next time they have a bonfire.

    2) Phoned the Financial Ombudsman lady. She has been working hard to sort out PPI I had on a loan 10 years ago. I'm still in a state of shock! I asked for the £2000 of PPI to be refunded plus interest at 8% (got the info from MSE!) AND...... HSBC have offered me £3543 ! I don't know if I will get a cheque (hope so) or if they will just us it to make the remaining loan smaller.

    3) Had a phone call from the Child Psych and he's going into school tomorrow to do another assessment of smaller son - he's very thorough! Then I had a letter from his Paediatrician and we're going to see him in July. I am guessing that is The Meeting when I learn if smaller son is autistic or not...

    4) Went to pick strawberries after school.

    5) Went to my sister's for tea (took strawberries) and watched some of the epic Wimbledon match. I drove all the way back, put the boys to bed, and the match was still going!

Evening, everyone. :) Hope everyone has had a nice day. Mine's not been too bad. Here's my five pleasures today:

    1. The sunshine. I know, I said it yesterday but it is nice and warming, and I got to wear my red dress with my cream sandals. :)
    2. Lots of positive comments about the dress! And the shoes.
    3. England winning.
    4. Finishing another page of my cross stitch. Not many more to go until this one is finished!
    5. I treated myself to an ice-cream at lunchtime.

One negative thing about today. Since last week I have been drinking Coke as I figured the rally we went to wouldn't have much in the way of soft drinks. I'm a little hooked on it again, but I have realised that it gives me bad indigestion and bloating. :s Not pleasant, and I can only hope it goes down soon. That, and I'm back on tea and water/squash from now on! Otherwise, work has been ok, and I've had a driving lesson which wasn't too bad. Here's to passing the test soon!

Nuttybabe - I'm glad you liked the breakfast bars. I make those really regularly now and they're a firm favourite.
GingerSnap - Best of luck with the Race for Life. I did it a few years' ago and it we only walked. It still took it out of me!

    Night all

Sparrer - Your garden sounds lovely

    Pleasures for today:
    1. Homemade chocolate cake today as a collegues birthday and she had made cake
    2. Directors laid on lunch and soft drinks for the whole office today and everyone was able to watch the football in the conference room:T:T:T
    3. Watching the tennis
    4. I didn't close the fridge door properly this morning  luckily not too much in the fridge so didn't lose too much. DD cleared contents that needed to be thrown and cleaned fridge for me. Bit worried as it usually means she has done something wrong or is after something if so helpful:D
    5. Lovely walk home from work in the sunshine

    A rather late 'evening all'!

    Here's my five for today:

    1. Quite a lot of maths revision with DS2 with not many objections from him either (and quite a bit of laughter too), ready for final exam next week.

    2. Phone call from my mum (who's in her 80s) who'd heard that our local sewing machine repair place has been able to fix her machine which she really wants to keep going since it's light enough for her to lug around and she knows its little ways. We'll collect it for her next week. I really like it when things can be repaired and 'kept on the road'.

    3. Got organised yesterday after the vegbox turned up and meal-planned properly for the week so did a Mr S shop this evening for the extras we'll need. I'm feeling a bit more organised.

    4. I know this will not seem like a pleasure at all to the football fans around here but I timed an afternoon nap to coincide with the match - suited me perfectly!!! :rotfl:

    5. Bought ice cream cones and a scoop as a treat for DS1&2 (with the secret plan that this might work out cheaper in the long run than them helping themselves to unlimited icecream - the scoop isn't very big and neither are the cones). Of course, I had to try one for pud just to make sure everything tasted OK. :D

Must get to bed. Sweet dreams.

Thanks for the title Ginger Snap, I'll look out for it, and (try to) keep an open mind when I get to read it. Wishing you all the best for Sunday, you're a real :staradmin to do the race
I'm going to read Paul McK's 'I can make you thin' nuttybabe, I was told by a friend this evening you can throw away all the low/no fat foods in the fridge. I've had my copy for a year but not even opened it - I start tomorrow! :rotfl:
Thank you tealady, I just love those colours. The hanging baskets full of Surfinias make a beautiful show, never tried them before and even I'm impressed
Oh ACEY I'm so pleased for you, however you get it, it's well deserved. That really is terrific news :T
I haven't heard it called Chi since I lived in L'ton, ralloctiger, brought back quite a few memories I can tell you - not least of the day/night I spent in St Richards giving birth to DS :D. And I love your version of window shopping, I think we're of very similar mind ;)
I know just what you mean about the football Broomstick, see my No 5 below ;)

    My 5 -

    1. Up early for a tepid shower. I needed another one afterwards though as I always think it's a good time to clean the bathroom
    2. Postie brought me my Renault World Rally tickets for September...thank you freebies board.
    3. She also brought me an ISA statement, I'm so pleased as I didn't think my little bit of savings was worth anything but the interest really surprised me. Not quite enough for a weeks groceries but not to be sneezed at :)
    4. Was told that my local farm shop does fresh meat for pets, including big bags of chicken wings. I'm going that way on Monday and will get some, it'll be a big saving on the supermarket prices. I should just add that they're not for me, my dog has one for breakfast every morning :D
    5. The tennis - sorry to all the footie fans but this is a one woman household and I love my tennis :T

    Night night, sweet dreams
