5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Evening all
Sparrer - especially now!!!! We are going to be worse off next year!!! You must have some self control to only have 1/2 mars bar a day!!!!! I would wolf the lot down which is why I rarely eat chocolate now - no self control what so ever!!!
Mine for today
1. The sun shinning
2. Cleaned kitchen and hoovered downstairs
3. Found out today my sil is pregnant
4. Watching the budget, it was quite interesting and things are not going to be as bad as I thought for us (I do need to find a job when ds2 starts nusery in september though but have time to try and find one!!!)
5. made spag bol for tea with enough bol for 1 more spag bol and 3 pasta bakes!!! :T
I hope no one is going to be too worse off from the budget. Have a good evening everyone.0 -
Evening everyone,
Back from Paris and had a really good time... except getting very lost on the way to the office so I ended up walking around in a giant circle for an hour and a half in heels and a with a very heavy backpack and a very heavy hangover!wssla00 - LOL at your over-abundance of tomato plants! I can beat you - I've got ten - but then I like tomatoes. I think I might have a few too many, though, and am already making arrangements to offload some of the surplus to colleagues at work. :rotfl:
I sympathise... I think I have 20 something tomato plants at last count... though some may not have survived my weekend away... I really should pop out to water them.
So my 5 for the last few days
1) Meeting some really nice people at the hostel who were also travelling on their own. We did the tours together and ate our meals together which was all very nice. And when my camera died they immediately started taking pics of me so that I would have a record of the last part of the tour.
2) NSD today and yesterday... yippie!
3) Walking up the Eiffel Tower... I am petrified of heights and only managed the first level but I was happy with that.
4) The gorgous chinois brioche that I brought home with me...
5) Not travelling back with my colleague who is exceptionally pompus and arrogant. I got the earlier train accidently on purpose! So I got to snooze and read my book in peace.
Oh and the date has had to be postponed to next week.... which gives my hair a little more time to grow out of the rather severe bob that it was cut into last week!
Nighty night
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Hey all
hugs to all who need them! I think between all of us on this thread, we could supply the tomatoes for the OS community LOL
OK...here are mine today:
1. The subcut is less scary than I thought! I hope it is going to work for me!
2. LP results are back.... resp nurse said they looked ok then a consultant looked at them and she came back saying she couldn't confirm the results but they look like they are alright so that's one less thing to worry about!
3. Having a bottle of cherry coke as a treat. It's my guilty pleasure!
4. Eating another strawberry from the garden
5. Enjoying the sunshine for a little while today! So nice! I am even starting to get a tan!
Enjoy the day (well what's left of it) allsee you tomorrow xxx
Feb GC: £200 Spent: £190.790 -
Evening all.
Ladyhawk - it sounds like you had a lovely time in Paris. I hope some (or preferably all) of your tomato plants survived your absence.
My five for today (as usual in a bit of a hurry as I'm typing this at half time in the football match I'm watching):
1) Finally finished the nightmare report which I started before going on holiday last month. :j:j:j I'm really very glad to see the back of that report!
2) Popped out a lunchtime to get some face powder, and found they had a special offer where, if I spent another £1.50, I would get a free lip gloss. I took the opportunity to treat myself to some cheap and cheerful yellow nail varnish, which I've wanted for a while (my catchphrase is 'the world needs more yellow things'), and got a very pretty, honey-coloured lip gloss for nothing.
3) Watching the football in the office at work today with my colleagues. Yes, I know we weren't supposed to, but we were working as well (honest!).
4) Made veggie pakoras for dinner tonight. I've never made them before and wasn't at all sure how they would turn out, but they weren't at all bad - although not perfect, so I have room for experimentation.
5) Did a bit of sorting out in the kitchen - turned the crust off last week's loaf into breadcrumbs, and froze half a bottle of milk, as I'm fed up with throwing both away.
Hope your all well, and the budget hasn't financially ruined anyone.Back after a very long break!0 -
Hi all, still catching up with your posts
ACEY sending you hugs
Mine for the past few days:
1) a beautiful sunny weekend in London
2) Southwark Holiday Inn Express using Priority points included breakfast, very friendly, and they stored our bags all day Monday after we checked out
3) a great location to stay, within walking distance of St. Pauls, Tate Modern, Millennium Bridge and a London bus tour stop five minutes walk away
4) using Tesco Clubcard vouchers for the London bus tour
5) elephant spotting
6) chilling out
7) sitting on a bench in St. James Park on Monday morning watching three herons standing on a rock
8) me attending a day long personal development event/workshop on Monday whilst dp and dd went to Hamleys (again) for dd and art galleries for dp
9) friendly, helpful Londoners offering directions"We have to be kind because everyone is fighting a great, great battle" - Sir Richard Attenborough
"There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women" - Madeleine Albright0 -
Ladyhawk, glad you enjoyed Paris! How are the furbabes?
CCP - any chance of the pakora recipe?
My 5 for today:
1. Trying a yummy new recipe - made felafel burgers, and very nice they were too. Off now to wrap the remaining ones for the freezer.
2. Enjoying playing with my new phone and getting it set up how I want it. I do like gadgets...
3. Good day at work, getting plenty done.
4. Lovely card in the post from my friend.
5. Managing to retrieve some photos, which I thought might be lost, of former foster cats. They are all very cute!Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
Girlysquare - that reminds me of when ds1 was about 3. We went for a walk on a nature trail and he decided to go elephant spotting!! we didnt see any!! He was devistated!
I am adding a 6th for me. Just been chatting to my neighbour who is out of hospital today. he fell 7ft onto concrete and broke his hip and has been in hospital for months after lots of complications!!! He seemed quite happy (thankful to be out of there) and just told us story after story. I am really happy that he is out and back to his old self (as much as he can be - still got a bit of recovering to do). Really puts things in perspective!0 -
Evening,
Girlysquare - my DD is older (14) but loves elephant spotting as well
My pleasures for today:
1. realising we will be ok for money and can manage even though we are going to lose out in the budget cuts, it wasn't as bad as we thought it was going to be,
2. OH getting a bargain in Sainsburys on some beer he bought they had mispriced the box of 8 beers to the price of 1:money:
3. Good monthly meeting with my boss and getting some details of the next project I am going to be working on. I'm a bit scared of it but he thinks I'll be fine, this year has been such a learning curve in my new role
4. Walking home from work in the lovey sunshine
5. Warm chicken and bacon salad for dinner using up some more of the freezer contents.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Evening all
thanks sparrer - budget could have been worse, DH has had a 2 year pay freeze and we will keep family tax credits, so there we are, will have to wait about pension news.
Righto, by the way, my Mum didn't have the heart to get rid of any tomato plant seedlings and at one point this year had 83 plants!!!
1. Lovely sunny day, DS came home from school and wanted a cool bath, so we tipped in toys and bubbles, I dangled my feet in and we scoffed ice lollies:)
2. Went up to lottie and met lovely old boy who has had his plot for 53 years, he is so nice. My lovely neighbour also gave us some horseradish yesterday and we passed on some tomato plants - what a nice community.
3. I made Mums and Dads at school laugh today. The council after being asked several times by me and others, to trim the brambles and nettles near pavement on way to school still haven't - it's very narrow and we have to walk on a very, busy dangerous road, so I walked down to school with scissors this afternoon and snippped a load offpeople power !!!
4. lovely HM pizzas for tea made by me and DS.
5. watching Dr Who film DH taped for us.
Sweet dreams

5 for today!
1) Helped out at school all day and it went quite well.
2) The supply teacher for Reception used to be in my class at High School! So I had a chat with her at break time.
3) Popped to Sainsburys and got lots of fruit and veg. The boys were good while they were there. When I was in the queue, I wondered where smaller son had gone. I turned round and he had gone a couple of metres behind me, into the sugar and tea aisle. He was kneeling on the low shelf where the sugar bags had been, shovelling spilled sugar into his mouth! Well, he is being assessed for autism and whether he is autistic or not, one of his "things" is getting obsessed with food and hoarding it (e.g in his bed). So I just said, "C, please stop eating the sugar and come back and stand in the queue" but the lady waiting behind me looked appalled and went to the end of another queue!! :-D
4) Had a cheating, ready made pasta meal for tea followed by fresh pineapple.
5) Got up to date with the hoovering, tidying and washing this evening. Both sons have had rather a late night because they really like "Inside Nature's Giants". We don't get up until 8am so they'll survive just this once.
6) Had a phone call from my mum and brother and my brother was pleased with the contacts I had found him yesterday and has sold 50kg of cherries so far and has more orders. Mum has organised a pub lunch for me (with she and dad) on my birthday later this week.
Bit peeved about the budget but you can't have everything!
L
P.S Got rather a difficult couple of weeks coming up and wondered if there is a blog section on MSE? I don't want to take over the 5 Pleasures thread with doom and gloom but would be good to get it out somewhere!0
