well done and congrats to all . I get lots of pleasure reading all your OS pleasures. Makes me remember that life is more than spend spend spend.
Today I had a strange day at work but the sun shone although the wind was very windy!!! lol.
5 OS pleasures were
1 DD2 getting up early, actually washing before school, making her own lunch and sorting The Boys( wilbur and Mojo the ferrets)withthout being reminded. She didnt slam the front door!! hooray for her.
2. Having cuppa with DH before work, rare event.
3. Sun shining always makes me feel good
4. Watching DD'S 2&3 Swim.
5. DD1 did washing up without complaining.
Must be something in the water cos all girls on good form today. Not sure about tomorrow DD2 has corse work due on fri and I know for a fact that she has only just started it, lots of shouting and blaming everyone else to come!!!!!:rotfl:
If you dont laugh you'd cry 13 is soooo difficult.
Big hugs to all mums of teens
xxmum to Min Pops and Wiggy et al.

:j:beer::j Newly wed well done girl
A bit of a mixed day today, mostly good bu one grooty lead to another as it usually does.
Here are mine for today - as others have said it does make me feel better to think of little positives.
1. lovely sunny day in Gloucester
2. lovely birthday cards an pressies from family
3 Nice cards from 2 old family friends - the notes in them will get my ears re peirced
5 lovely meal out with hubby and dd
6 lots of lovely music burned to disk and on to memory stick from an e music offer
7 Good news from out patents visit (thorasic medcine) things moving forward, unfortunately I need to up the steroids again but lungs need it.
8 c pap machine and nebuliser serviced at the same time which included a chat with an old scouting collegue who works in Medical Engineering
9 Cucumbers nearly ready for picking
10 Tomatoes beans and a few other veg coming on nicely
The downside of 7 & 8 was cram crackering myself due to an early start to try & find parking and a lot of walking (Hubby couldnot take me sa the builder who did our patio once again promiced to come & clear up ( again he failed). A nap was needed this afternoon.
I hope every one has had a good day

Oh bother... I had just written notes to all of you and then deleted it by mistake.
Suffice to say... well done to those who have done good things, hope those of you are feeling poorly feel better soon and most of all WELL DONE NEWLYWED!!! I am so pleased for you.
So mine for today:
1) Met Janet Street-Porter today... not that she was a pleasure! In fact she was not very pleasant at all! But the event I met her at was really good and I got to do some good networking... particularly with a rather cute young gentleman... well it was just nice to chat to some totty!
2) Lunch at the event was very yummy - quality cold meat and salads with lovely fresh bread followed by fresh strawberries. My favourite type of lunch.
3) NSD... an unexpected one since I was planning on going for drinks tonight with a friend.
4) Lovely curry from the freezer for dinner.
5) The warmth of the sunshine... when it could be bothered to shine!
Nighty night night.... enjoy your first day tomorrow Newlywed
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
wogglemaker - is it your birthday today, or am I misreading your post? If it is - happy birthday! And I hope your lungs decide to co-operate soon and make it an even happier birthday for you.Back after a very long break!0

Hope you'll soon be home Happydaze, from whatever you're doing. Well done on the charity shop find
So sorry to hear about your DM elizabunny, good to know she's in a caring place. Aww bless your DH, nice that there are still some romantics in the world. Roten luck about the tooth but pleased (and surprised!) you've got an appt so soon
Sounds like you have very special weekend Shadowsfall. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on your possible new career
You keep on like that savingforoz and you'll be sitting on crates! Make sure they leave you a bed and a chair
Don't lose the label for the carrots wssla. Never heard of Atlas carrots, one I shall have to look up
Good to have you back Caterina, hope you enjoyed your time away even though you were itching to get back to the allotment. Hope you enjoyed the dim sum, there's nothing like that here in the sticks, only basic 'Chinese' food adapted for the Western palate. Roll on the time I can go back and eat a proper meal as it should be cooked. Everything crossed you get the news you want re the job
The hamper is a good idea Tealady, your dad will appreciate some of his favourite things. Good news re the hotel, a true OS style find :T
Congrats on getting your shopping exactly right maryb, it's not easy sometimes. Good luck for a repeat on Friday
Sounds like you had a busy day in the garden nuttybabe. Had to smile at the trouble with the mowers, perhaps the previous owner left it because they didn't realise the power lead was loose either! Their loss is your gain
Congrats on the dla Bernie, great news. I hear you about being too tired to shop, often by the time I've sorted the animasls and myself out and driven to the village I just want to go home again. There's an old crocks forum on here somewhere, I must look for it. Good for you on the 6 choccie biccies followed by burgers, we all have to have a treat sometimes or life would be very dull indeed
Well done on getting the controversial colleague to listen, CCP. It's always good when common sense prevails
That's two of us got the squirty cream voucher catznine. Big decision now is which one to choose. Good job on the gardening, mine was out of bounds today so had to do horrible housework instead
The soup, scones and jam sound yummy zara, I picture you sitting in your sunny garden with Mr Blackbird serenading and a tray of delicious hm food beside you
Pleased you had a good visit with you mil Ginger Snap. Congrats to your DS on his
success and his very well-deserved medal :T
Blees the DD's ralloctiger, I only had two and that was bad! If it's any consolation they get worse before they get better :rotfl:
A very happy belated birthday wogglemaker, hope it was a cracker. Good for you using the money fr having your ears pierced, hope you can get some pretty earrings too
I'd heard that JS-P isn't too friendly Ladyhawk, I often wonder why people seemingly admire others who are rude, and put them on a pedestal rather than in their place. Pleased you made up for it by finding a toyboy to chat with, albeit only temporarily
My 5
1. Postie brought me a voucher for a canister of squirty cream
2. 16 year old next door came to my door in tears, wanted a cuddle! Her parents are away on their own for the first time ever and she was missing them sorely. 21 year old sister isn't really a cuddling type so Sparrer was called on to do grandmotherly duties
3. nsd
4. Painted some more plastic flower pots in the blues of the beach hut. I have some yellow and white acrylics so am going to paint flowers on them
5 Half the old shed has gone. It's too big and bulky to move all at once (the wheel arches on the van were almost on the tyres when the vanwas half laden) so the other half is going in a few days. I now have an area about 9' by 6' to decide what to do with. I shall sit and contemplate it for a few days before I make up my mind
Night night, sweet dreams
S x
(please forgive errors, just too lazy/tired to sc tonight)

Sparrer - the flowerpots must look great painted blue. I've seen the idea in magazines but have never managed to do it.
My five are
1.Washing machine put on and used cheap electricity.
2.Washing dried on line.
3. Lovely sausages for tea that were BOGOF.
4. Lovely walk with the dog both in he morning and evening.
5. Finishing my book.
6. Actually managing to find enough pleasures to post as it was one of those days yesterday. Heres hoping today will be better.0 -
Wogglemaker - Happy birthday:bdaycake:for yesterday.Hope you had a fab day.
Newlywed - Hope you enjoy the first day in your new job0 -
Bonjour à tout et à tous -
It's been a long time since I posted here[or anywhere on mse]much - excluding lurks - and I feel ashamed, which in turn has felt sufficient grounds for not posting.
Things have happened, are happening, so for now I will only say I'll post again at times.
1. Feared that the wretched weather would spoil elderflowers for champagne and cordial making, so successful at first attempt last year. There are brown rain-ruined bracts, but I can gather more than enough and will do so today.
2. Established skype contact with young Polish chap, met in January several years ago when we were both stuck o/n at Boulogne[blizzard delayed ferry]. Will be helping him with more English exams: RP, descriptive grammar, history, news and vernacular - reading Guardian online aloud to me for correction. I am pedantic task mistress, gleefully.
3. Gym&swim yesterday, restart last week. Local college is now with GP referral scheme, which is superb. All swimming is free - so 3min walk and open from 0645h every day. Absolutely no excuse now. Met another newbie last night, about same level i.e. competent swimmer, but a couple of bad old habits to break. Think we will help each other.
4. Saw the long-tailed tits dance out back in the air, singing as I dithered about France/dates.
5. Sent something silly to mot's family pusscat- the Most Excellent Dibley.I AM NOW GOING TO SHOUT THIS IN BIG CAPITALS:
I ask all of you, please to send a fellow feeling, a soft hug, a nugget of strength and endurance, a good thought, any prayer of any kind, DAILY
to mot and her loving support, italian tony, and to mot's brilliant teenage twins, Felicity and Adam[there's a book for you in Dibley's package, Adam. Yes, it's boring ampersand, grinding Reading into you again, by hook or by crook!:D.]
Any of you who read mot's Threads know what a remarkable woman she is. Is it any wonder that i.t. and she should have found their way back together after years during which Life set them on separate paths?
Now Tony needs everyone's help, love, support, meaning Julia, Felicity and Adam do, too....and Tony's family, including his papa, now 96.
Again we witness bad things happening to good people and ask for a 'Why?'.......
These days, life includes SOS bus and National Trust volunteering - extreme ends of spectrum.
I began a major task yesterday and answered a freecycle lady who wanted scraps of material for a school project - this will be a pleasurable sorting job. My carboot is completely stuffed with remnants atm. Have more cases in loft and no.1 shed....plenty of choice.I wish a day of small pleasures to everyone. W.H. Davies poem is an excellent memory point:LeisureWHAT is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare?—No time to stand beneath the boughs,
And stare as long as sheep and cows:
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass:
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night:
No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance:
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began?A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

I need to add separately that it was spotting newlywed's wonderful news re: job, that drove me to keyboard.
I add my 'Well done!'s - such relief and joy for you, at last, through much persistence.
Good luck to Caterina too - I am pleased when I read happy mention of OH and solicitous acts. It's good to see C! Your twins now coming of old-style age too! Another cause for real celebration and congratulation - just think how you've come through these last 2 years.....CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:
