1 Put a wash on overnight to do on cheap rate electricity. DH snored so loudly I woke up early so was in time to put a second wash on before the cheap rate expired. (not sure that's a pleasure but certainly money saving!!)
2 found a voucher for a cheap haircut and as I have a loyalty card that also means my next haircut after that will be FREE!!!
3 Had a voucher for £2 off a £20 spend in Sainburgers which needed using. Managed to buy stuff we will use that was all on offer (so good value anyway) and got it to come to exactly £20!!! I was going round the shop looking for something that cost exactly 34p 'cos I wasn't going to let it go over £20
4 when I paid my £18 the machine spewed out another £2 off £20 voucher so I will be able to use that on Friday when I do the main weekly shop. (wonder if I can bring that one in at exactly £20?)
5. found the bill for an expense I can reclaim from workIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
newlywed - congratulations on your job. Starting tomorrow must be great.0

Evening all
Newlywed congratulations on the job. :T:T:T
Mine for today
1. A lovely sunny day.
2. Left for school run on time.
3. Filled up garden bin this morning cutting back huge plants from what should be the lawn!!!! And when that was collected filled it up again by cutting the lawn! Took me quite a while as our lawnmower kept clogging up and then stopped working. So I dug out the one that was left by the previous owners of the house and it was brilliant (after I worked out that the power lead was a bit lose and that was why it kept stopping:rotfl:), finished the rest in double quick time!!
4. Cleaned kitchen and hoovered down stairs (and no sign of mice so fingers crossed they have gone elsewhere!!!!!)
5. The bean pate on home made bread for lunch. It was lovely! And ds1 wants that for his lunch tomorrow as well! :j
Have a good evening everyone.0 -

Evening all.
Firstly, and most importantly - WTG newlywed! :j I hope you have a fantastic first day tomorrow.
My pleasures for today:
1) Being back at work. I've got a lovely bunch of colleagues (and the one not-so-lovely one wasn't in), and it was great to be back arguing about football and vuvuzelas - and doing the odd bit of work, of course!
2) Had a rare success convincing a notoriously stubborn colleague in another department that he should amend his proposal before submitting it - for once he accepted that, if I said it wouldn't get approved, it meant it wouldn't get approved - usually he argues for days, then tries to go behind your back to get what he wants.
3) Had some salted pistachios with my lunch. They were a childhood favourite of mine but I haven't had them in years - I'd forgotten how nice they are.
4) Got some studying done when I got home, so I can watch football and / or do some gardening after dinner without feeling too guilty.
5) Made a huge tray of pasta bake for dinner - it was supposed to also do me for lunch tomorrow, but there will easily be enough for a third meal, too. I just hope it tastes as good as it looks.
Have a lovely evening, everyone.

Good evening everyone! Hope your days have been good ones.
Mine for today:
1. Visiting poorly MIL this morning and feeling glad to be able to help her with a few household chores and cheer her up. She is so sore and bruised from her fall with very swollen legs (they think her kidneys are not working properly either, hence the swelling). Despite all this she was able to laugh and chat and we enjoyed each others company.
2. Finally getting fed up waiting for the tiler to come back to us and get the job done (there's only so many times you can be fobbed off with "I'll be there in a week or two") and got another guy out to quote. He seems decent and gave a reasonable quote so fingers crossed the bathroom will soon look a lot better.
3. My DS loved his inter-schools athletics competition today and won a medal in the relay. He narrowly missed out in the long jump but it didn't matter and it all did wonders for his confidence.
4. Enjoyed a veggie curry, which OH made last week and froze half of, for tea. We never used to bother to do that with leftovers and its a really good feeling to be more frugal!
5. Found a book cheap (ish) on ebay that looks like it will be good money saving reading at bedtime! Am looking forward to it arriving.0 -
Firstly, thank you Caterina for your kind words. I hope you have good news from your interview and a nice time celebrating tonight. Well done newlywed and congratulations!!
Today I have:-
1) Managed to get lots of baking done, very satisfying.
2) Broken my front tooth on a peach stone!!! but managed to get an appointment to get it fixed friday.
3) Line dried and aired both dogs cushions and blankets.
4) Found yet another lovely message from DH pinned to my cupboard.
5) Managed to get all finished, showered and into PJs by 7.30p for a relaxing evening, while DH watches footie.
Have a good evening everyone!Sealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin
