Sorry you don't feel well, CCP - hope you get better soon xLife is not a dress rehearsal.0

Oh dear CCP, sorry to read you're not well, was it fizzy pineapple? Hope it's a 24-hour thing and you're right as rain by tonight.0

Hi all
CCP sorry to hear you are unwell and hope you get better!
savingforoz, how disappointing about the woman letting you down and pulling out of the rental, but I am sure that it is only a minor obstacle and soon someone much better will turn up and will be the perfect tenant!
Welcome to all the new people (quite a few since I last popped in) and (((HUGS))) to all who need them.
Here are a few pleasures from the last couple of days:
1 - All the lovely birthday wishes that people sent for my twins (21 year old, can you believe it, it makes me feel OLD!).
2 - Visiting the allotment and clearing a lot of weeds in a short time as the earth is quite soft.
3 - DH doing the He-Man thing on the allotment and clearing a LOT of stuff all by himself!
4 - Started an outdoors keep fit program with an instructor and a small group of people, hopefully it will motivate me to go back to the gym after a few sessions.
5 - Compliments about losing weight (I cannot see it but other people comment on it so it must be true!).
6 - Tea and dark chocolate digestives as a treat in the afternoon.
7 - About to go to the allotment to do more clearing (and feeling delighted that I have an allotment to go to!).
8 - Anticipating the excitement for tomorrow job interview.
9 - Finding this morning that DS had come back home in the night and hugging him after not seeing him for what seems a long time!
10 - DD JUST ARRIVED BACK LITERALLY AS I WRITE! I AM OFF TO HUG HER NOW!!!!
Have a good evening everybody xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Haven't posted here for a while, but here's my five for today:
1. Baked four loaves of Weezl's no knead bread and feeling smug because I saved fuel. (Usually I only bake one or two) Thank you WEEZL :A
2. Knitted a pretty drawstring type bag using wool left over from my other project. I try to find ways of using up my stash to save money and resources. Just have to sew it together.
3. Got two packets of fresh fish in breadcrumbs - nice fat fillets for a total of £2. I can cut them in half and freeze. They'll do us both for two meals.
4. Noticed today that my first ever green vegetables are actually growing well. I can't remember which are cabbage and which are brocs. The slugs and butterflies can't get through the fine netting.
5. The garlic cloves I planted in the snow are big and strong and I've got a ripe strawberry picked to top our yoghurt this evening0 -
Afternoon all.
Thanks very much for your sympathy - it's much appreciated and I am feeling a bit better now, thanks. Kittikins - I think it might have been a fizzy banana, actually. I knew there was a reason I've never liked over-ripe bananas. _pale_
Caterina - I'm glad you're enjoying your new allotment. Good luck for the interview tomorrow.
Kitchenbunny - thanks for reminding me of kofte - I haven't had those in ages, and will have to slot them in to my mealplan at some point now you've reminded me. (You can tell I'm feeling better by the fact I'm talking about food again!)
Right, let's see if I can find five pleasures for today:
1) Having barely slept last night, it was a great relief to go back to bed for an hour or so after phoning in sick this morning.
2) Took advantage of being at home to do a batch of washing and put it outside to dry - and it hasn't got rained on (yet, anyway!).
3) Felt a bit better this afternoon and did a bit of studying while watching the football.
4) All my campanulas are out in flower. They grow like weeds in my garden, but at least they're pretty weeds.
5) And there was a ladybird on one of them - the first I've seen in my garden this year.
Hope you all have a pleasant evening. Personally, I'm already looking forward to an early night! (Pretend there's a sleepy smiley here, please - I can't insert one as the website I use for smilies doesn't seem to be working at the moment. I'll come back later and add one, if I remember.)Back after a very long break!0 -
No worries, CCP - glad you're feeling better
Those kofte were delicious and I really want them again, asap. Tonight is completely out of sync with the mealplan as plans have changed, so I ended up going to Mr M and buying some chow mein sauce, some RTC turkey steak and some noodles and will just do that for tea. Tasty! Here's my five for today:
1. Finding that lovely turkey steak reduced to clear. There was loads of it for far cheaper than chicken! I've used one breast portion for tonight and the other has gone into the freezer - gone are the days where I'd use 2 portions for 2 people! I now bulk with veggies and I think we both feel the healthier for it.
2. Serendipitously, the vending machine on the station was broken when I gave in to temptation on the way home and tried to get a chocolate bar. So thankfully, I didn't spend on overpriced chocolate
3. Getting tea prepped, sandwiches made and the kitchen tidied before DH gets home.
4. Deciding to try and leave a day between hair washes. I usually can't stand to have "second day hair" and I can get grumpy over it. I want to try and break myself out of that habit.
5. The sun came out on the way home. OK, so it's gone in again now, but it was nice to see it. I hope we see more of it!

Kitchenbunny: Well done on the turkey bargains! I have just got into YS food, rummaging through is better than a jumble sale! Serendipitously is SUCH a fantastic word BTW.:)
CCP: Really glad your tummy seems a lot better. You are lucky the campanulas grow well for you, they are so pretty.I have just bought a white plant for MIL who has been ill.
Budgeteer: DOes Weezle's no knead bread still taste light and springy? I am intrigued!
Caterina: Your allotment sounds fantastic, and the exercise has probably helped you lose the weight, well done! :T
Kittikins: your fete sounds brilliant and well done on the tombola gifts- I usually end up with 15 year old soap. At our fete on Saturday my poor DS won back all the things we had just donated!
Sparrer: Thanks for the kind remarks about me standing up for myself, its certainly something I have really struggled with as I hate upsetting people. That's kind of you saving the eggboxes, you are right they are like gold dust for folk with chickens. I even resorted to buying some from ebay as we kept running out.
Nuttybabe: Please which recipe for HM pizza do you use? I have used one of Delia's that I found online which is good except OH says the dough rises too much and he would prefer the pizzas thin and crispy not deep pan!
Mine for today:
1. I had a phone call last night from my late husbands ex-wife for a "chat". Years ago this would have really upset me as she can be extremely aggressive and manipulative. However I kept calm and managed to stay civil to her so felt really proud of myself and relieved that she doesn't seem to have the power to upset me like she used to!
2. OH let me sleep in this morning (phone call last night was a late one) and took the kids to school. He can be so kind!
3. Went to Asd@ and was very excited to find lots of Whoopsies so my freezer is stocked with all kinds of bread, quiches and meals for next week at a fraction of the cost. (Why did I never realise the wonder that is Whoopsied food before?!?!)
4. DD went off to her Isle of Wight trip this morning and gave me a big hug and told me she loved me as she said goodbye.
5. Sold another thing on ebay, my paypal balance is looking healthy at last!
Have a good evening everyone.0 -
Evening all
Sparrer I hope your conversation went all right!!! And yes, I did get the remote!Watched another 2 games today so tonight the remote is mine again!!
CCP glad you are feeling better. i made the mistake of eating an out of date sausage once and it wasnt pleasant!
Budgeteer I love weezl's receipes!!!!
Mine for today
1. Left for school run on time
2. Cleaned the kitchen (twice) and hoovered downstairs (twice)!! Kids and their crumbs!!!!
3. Dd has been a little angel all day! NO mood swings and NO trantrums. :T
4. Made Weezl's bean pate for ds1's school lunches this week. We both think it tastes rather nice.
5. We had toad in the hole for tea (made with sausages my sister left at the weekend - £5.70 for 8!!!) Everyone ate it all (dd ate a huge pile of carrots AND parsnips!!!) and it was very nice but there is no way I would spend that much on 8 sausages!!!!!
