Newlywed- do you use S-M-A-R-T in your interviews?

Basically if it is a competency based interview, they are usually looking for these types of answer. If you want any more info on it lemme know.... those types of questions are b*ggers

hi ginger snap have just posted the recipe on "what did you bake today thread" the cakes turn out more like a muffin. i made them with all ( nearly all) T's value ingredients. So quite economical. but i expect even better with real butter etc. I forgot plain yog so i opened a muller corner, my friend said she used strawberry yog so you can improvise.
hope the sun shines on your baking this weekend.
ps supposed to use full fat coke but again you could use cherry or like me tesco value.

    Hi everyone

I haven't posted on this thread before, everyone seems lovely though, so I thought I'd give it a whirl! My five for today are:
    1. Having a bit of a lie in this morning (an extra half hour)
    2. Enjoying a (free!) cup of tea at work with whole milk (mmm, nice and creamy!)
    3. Reading my book on the bus
    4. Having a lovely walk home in the sunshine
    5. Doing the grocery shopping (I love supermarkets!)
I actually have more than five for today but hey, I will remember them on days next week when it's not a Friday!

Hope you're all having a nice night, whatever you're doing.

    Jo :)

wssla that's an amazing loss, congratulations :T
candlepower good luck with the diet, that sounds like a strict one! Hope you feel well for it
CCP I'll definitely be going back to the island :D. The shed is going to a member of my fellowship, he has an allotment and sadly has a terminal illness but other members go along and look after it for him. He can sit in the shed doorway and enjoy a cuppa and some company...I can't think of a better use for it :). Given up trying to work out how to put on a pic of the beach hut, it's beyond me. I'm just not tech minded :o
Ginger Snap and nuttybabe my no calories day was a bit of a misnomer, I ate food with minimal, or 'negative' calories which according to the 'experts' take more cals to eat and digest than they contain. I had grapefruit for breakfast, soup made with onion, garlic, cabbage, celery and broccoli, and apples, pineapple and tangerines through the day, plus green tea to drink. I certainly wouldn't want to do it every day but I reckon once a week it must be good for me
Welcome Jo_Rourke, good to have you aboard

    my 5 -

    1. As above, the old shed is going to a very good cause
    2. Advertised the contents of the old shed on freecycle and have already had some replies
    3. A freecycler who came this afternoon gave me an old fashion beach bucket the same colour as the beach hut, which will sit on the bench outside and be planted with herbs, and she took some bits for her garden
    4. a nsd, forgot to count but am doing quite well this month so far
    5. my lovely friend was feeling better last night when we spoke on the phone. I'm just so grateful for this web site for the ability to phone him at 1p a minute, takes a huge weight off my mind and our phone calls do brighten him up Thanks Martin :money:

    night night, sweet dreams

    Greetings all

    :hello:Welcome Jo!

Candlepower - lol! I thought it was some colonic irrigation seminar you were at and not a nutritional one! :o It sounds interesting though!

Sparrer -glad the old shed is going to a good home where it will be appreciated. You are a kind lady!

Busy busy day at work which meant that I only left the office at 7pm. But as I was working in London and only got in at 10.30am I thought that was fair enough. I had a really weird call at 9am though on my house phone. I usually don't answer it because the only person who has my number is my mum and she usually txts me before calling. Anyway, a scottish lady came on the line and said "Sorry to bother you but I am looking for a neighbour of yours, Mr X (I didn't actually catch his name) and he lives at number 35. Do you know if he still lives there? I responded no and said good bye and put the phone down. But now I am curious - how did she get my number? and what was it really all about? Very curious indeed.

Anyway so my pleasures for today:

    1) Lunch at a neighbourhood cafe with our PR manager and CSR manager who I get on very well with.

    2) Finding out the other PR manager is pregnant - she is lovely and I am really pleased for her.

    3) Meeting my friend L and several of her friends for a drink after work and to watch the football. (L and I just chatted really as we both don't really enjoy it)

    4) Getting my emails down to under 100. I feel under pressure if they go above 100 in my inbox

    5) Chatting to my colleagues in the London office. They are such a nice bunch and it is nice to see them.

Enjoy what's left of the evening.

    L

    My five for yesterday are
    1. Walking my dog in torrential rain! Once I've got over the fact that I will get wet, very wet it is enjoyable. Its walking in drizzle that I don;t enjoy.
    2. Managing to attend pilates class. Makes my back feel so much better.
    3. A friend giving my DS2 a lift to a meeting and staying for the meeting and then giving him a lift home.
    4. Picking flowers from the garden so have fresh flowers in the house which does lift my spirits. I must try and do this all the time.
    5. Achat with a friend who I haven't spoken to for a while.

Not bad for a day that I thought that I would struggle to find 5.

    CCP, enjoy the carnival!

Acey, glad Puss is OK, even minus a tail.

    My 5 for yesterday:

    1. Finding someone who will take a lot of the remaining furniture in the house, so my lodger can move her stuff in.

    2. New season The Mentalist on TV.

    3. Finishing work at 4pm - always good.

    4. Phone conversation with old schoolfriend in evening and hearing that the tumour in her thyroid was benign.

    5. Making a batch of homemade yoghurt.

Gotta fly! Have agood day, everyone.

Welcome, Jo! Good to see new faces around. :) This thread always makes me look for the little things and helps a person to keep their chin up in a world of downers. Here's my pleasures for yesterday:

    1. Getting home earlier than normal thanks to the buses running *gasp* on time!
    2. Finishing the Pratchett book I was reading. He always makes me laugh.
    3. Doing a bit of sewing outside. Well, I was sat on the back doorstep looking out into the garden, but it was nice.
    4. Talking to a friend to whom I've passed on frugality tips and hearing her say how useful they've been. :)
    5. Where I usually use 2 chicken breasts in a curry, I cut it down to one last night and bulked the rest out with vegetables. And no one noticed! ;)

ACEY - I get hayfever too. It isn't pleasant, is it? (((hugs)))
Ladyhawk - cafe lunches! I remember those... I don't do them anymore (I've set myself so many little projects I don't get time :s ) but they were lovely.
    Jo - I love supermarkets too :D
Nuttybabe - Saturday night is my fakeout night :D I love it - pizza tonight :D

Hope everyone has a lovely day. Not much planned here apart from a bit of cleaning and I kinda want to have a go at making bread from scratch. I need to buy another loaf tin or I'll end up with so many rolls! I'll see how it goes. :)

    1. Got up early to turn on the washing machine while economy 7 is still on. Heard a rattle from the drum, and found a £1 coin.
    2. Going through the contents of the cupboard and found some Knorr pilau rice stock cubes that I didn't know I had. Crushed one into the split peas I was cooking. Tastes great, and I have enough liquor left to make soup with.
    3. Son rang. He has just landed a high-paying job. I am so pleased, one would think it was I who had landed it!
    4. I had misplaced a share certificate. It turned up in another file.
    5. My neighbours have gone off on holiday for a few days. Great. I can get my bass guitar out...
