Hi all, have a nice time away Caterina.

    Here's mine today:

    1. Sunshine
    2. A lovely walk by the sea
    3. Careers fair being more useful than I expected.
    4. Learning that some of the council admin jobs have several hundred people apply - shouldn't really be a pleasure but makes me feel better about the fact that they don't even respond to my applications or want to see me :o
    5. The guy from the CV course giving me some tips on my CV to make it "punchier" :rotfl: and learning that I can book up an appointment with his colleagues for free
    6. Learning that the job center staff member who told me the CV and interview techniques courses were too basic and I'd be bored - was most likely to be wrong!! I spoke to 3 different companies who run these courses and they all gave suggestions and seemed to imply they can help with my CV and interview tips.
    7. Learning that I could have gone on some free learndirect courses (they aren't all for numeracy and literacy) some are management and customer service courses. Have put my name down for the next quarter.
    8. Finding out about an online training course for CV and interview tips for "professionals" and being told I would qualify and it would apply to me and would be free (job center staff member said it didn't apply to my line of work)
    9. Giving my CV to a recruitment agency who seemed very interested in my skills and experience.
    10. Being told that I have a good set of skills and experience and should be an asset to a company - after applying for 50 jobs you do start to wonder :o
    11. Feeling a bit more positive now about people helping me and will be speaking to the job center to arrange some courses and won't take "you'll be bored" for an answer (I'm somewhat bored at home after all).
    12. My courgette seedlings shooting up :D
    13. The first flower on my Cistus Alan Fradd has come out :D

Crumbs that's lots more than I expected to find when I was halfway round the career fair thing and ready to give up hope :o
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?

I'm not going to post any pleasures today because I'm having difficulty finding them. Everyone has bad days though, and I'm sure I'll be back on better form tomorrow. Take care, all.

    Hi Everyone

First of all I want to say goodbye for a few days to all of you, I am off to the Isle of Wight tomorrow for a week and then a few days in Cardiff with DH (who needs to go there for his martial arts stuff so I am accompanying) so you might not see me for a little while.

What type of MA does your DH do? I have spent many a very enjoyable afternoon at a dojo in Cardiff... but boy to they breed them hard down there! The mats were always paper thin and really painful to land on if you weren't warmed up properly.

Kitchenbunny - so sorry you are having a rubbish time at the moment. Anything we could help you with?

So - just got back from Plymouth - never been there before but such a lovely part of the world. The presentation that I went to give there went ok... though I don't think that we are going to get the job. My part went well though so am relieved about that. It was such a long way to go for a 5 minute presentation!!

    1) Glorious sunshine and being in a beautiful part of the world to enjoy it.

    2) Reading my new Jack Reacher novel on the train back.

    3) The furbabes being happy to see me when I got home.

    4) My plants all growing well. Hope they don't die while I'm in Norway!

    5) Easy dinner of soup when I got back at 9pm this everning - it was rather yum.

Night all... gonna sleep well tonight!

Kitchenbunny a big hug to you.

I've been in hospital with the worst chest infection I've ever had, two full weeks and still not 100%. So here is a random assortment of pleasures.

the support and understanding given and recieved from people who are all ill with different problems

The care and understanding given by all the staff I've got to know over many years of being admitted to the same ward.

watching pidgions playing kiss chase on the hospital roof at 5.30 am

Beautiful sunsets viewed from the eighth floor of the tower block.

Having my first diabetiic hypos in hospital but recognising the signs and dealing with it properly.

A quick trip round Tesco when I got home for a healthy living shop.

sleeping in my own bed, wirh hubby at my side - best of all

house elf, so pleased your friends family is all okay. What a terrible thing for all the families in the area, including the mother of Derick Bird who lost two sons.. Lol at your Uncles Mandarin blunder - I can get by but as you say, the 4 tones can be very subtle so best not to say anything if I'm not 100% sure :silenced:
Shadowsfall it's been just over 3 years since I had a cigarette and would have one tomorrow if I was offered. 5 years since my last drink and wouldn't give tuppence for any more alcohol. Strange, isn't it? Wise words of your cousin's. 'Things' can be replaced, people can't :)
mollie the tea sounds good enough to eat - I love home made wedges. I sprinkle an oxo cube on them which makes them really yummy
ginny don't you just love Econ7? What a huge saving it makes. I envy you your chickens, I don't have room so like hearing about everybody's here:D
savingforoz hope you're enjoying your net-free time. Well done on the groceries, good planning there:T
Ginger snap you did the right thing when you weren't feeling 100%. Retail therapy - very sensible! Your chickens did well, all five producing a present for you :)
Caterina a little late but hope you have/had a wonderful holiday. My love to the island if you should read before you go tomorrow :D
newlywed what a wonderfully positive day at the careers fair, so pleased for you that you got all that good advice, and info about the courses too. Grrrr at the silly female who told you it wasn't worth bothering, that's hardly encouraging to someone who's so willing to work
Kitchenbunny (((hugs))) to you, as Ladyhawk said if you feel like sharing we're here, if not we're here anyway and wishing you well :A
Ladyhawk I'm pleased the Devonians didn't keep their promise while you were in Plymouth, they've been threatening to 'cut the Tamar Bridge rope' holding the two counties together for years, so Cornwall will float off into the distance :D. No love lost between those two, lol.
wogglemaker sorry to hear about the infection, this disease is a beetch. Thank goodness for the NHS, we can get treatment when we need it and not have to pay a fortune in insurance or go without.I was so fortunate my physios recommended a certain medication last Autumn, I've only had one infection since. Hope you'll feel better now you're home :)

    My 5
    1. didn't get up at silly o'clock this time but a nice gentle 8.30am. Had the washing out and the front garden (paving slabs) weeded by11am :)
    2. Postie brought me a small Tesco points voucher, not much but it will help during the Summer holiday :D
    3. I reached target on a survey site so I could apply for £15 of vouchers:T
    4. The apples on the espalier are getting a little bigger every day, I give it lots of water in this weather and it seems to be paying off. Sad to say I'm pleased to hear it might rain on Sunday, but only because the water butt is empty :(
    5. Advertised loads of plastic pots on freecycle and they've gone already :D

    Night night, sweet dreams

A big thank you to you all. I am feeling a little better today. Yesterday I was having some major self esteem issues, that's all, and some days they are easier to cope with than others. Here's to it just vanishing overnight. I know it won't, but there you go. (((hugs))) I really appreciate the support.

So, what've I been up to today? Well, aside from an hour extra in bed, I've cleaned the bathroom thoroughly, washed the kitchen floor and did some exercises. Not sure what we're going to do for the rest of the day, but I'd like to watch the rest of the Lost disc we got from LoveFilm. I'm getting to be quite an addict! Anyway, here are my five pleasures from today:

    1. That extra hour in bed. It made a difference, even if I was only dozing.
    2. Getting the cleaning done. I'm starting to feel a little bit houseproud - I've never been like that, not really.
    3. Watching the penultimate episode of Great British Menu. I wasn't so much interested as how the actual cooking for the Prince of Wales went, but I was interested in who was going to cook and which dishes would be chosen. That was nice.
    4. Finding that I still had an old wraparound skirt from a previous holiday to Portugal. I thought I'd thrown it away, but I've got it on now and feel quite happy with it.
    5. Buying a cherry tomato seedling from a charity thing at work for 50p. I'm hoping to overcome my awful track record by nurturing this one properly. I've even done research! Only, I've gone and left the thing on my desk at work! Doh. I hope it's ok. Maybe I'd better not name this one, as I did my poor basil plant, Manuel. Poor plant.
    6. Yes, I managed to find a good thing about yesterday. I had a pot of nondescript tomato-ey spicy-y chicken-y stew thing in the freezer which I added some extra cinnamon and cumin to and made a Moroccan-style chicken dish to have with pasta. Even in the midst of bleakness, a tiny glimmer of light (even if only from the fridge... ;) )

Anyway, I hope you all have a lovely day. Thanks again for the support.

Molly - well done on sticking to your list! I always have difficulty doing that, especially when I see things with little yellow stickers on. When I pass my driving test I've already told DH I'll be off to the supermarket at odd hours to get the bargains! ;)
Annelouise - those spring rolls sound lovely! If we had a deep fat fryer I'd be forever making these, along with prawn toasts.. mmm
Villagelife - is it difficult to make elderflower cordial? I love the stuff, but I get a bit put off making it myself. :)
Sparrer - having a lay in is one of the best pleasures of all!
Wogglemaker - I hope your chest infection goes completely soon. I had one earlier this year and I'm still coughing. :( I watch the pigeons play kiss-chase on the station while waiting for the train home. I imagine they've got a soap opera soundtrack going on. Mind you, I do get odd looks from some of the other passengers when I laugh!
Ladyhawk - I envy you having furbabes. I want a couple of cats, and have already picked out the names. We can't have any pets thanks to the rent agreement, but when we get our own place - kittens will be one of the first things we get!

    Sorry for the ramble

Caterina I'm so jealous of you having an allotment, we have a 2-3 year waiting list here
Ginger Snap and laurel7172 glad your hospital visits went well
molly Carluccio's is a rare treat for us too, and both Bristol restuarants are lovely, we went to Cribbs Causeway this week as it's half term. Total £36 for the three of us including drinks and coffee, dd had the children's meal though she stole some of my Penne Giardiniera penne with courgette, chilli and deep fried spinach balls with parmesan and garlic...lovely and very filling!
Reverbe as Shadowsfall says, dp is darling or dear partner
Shadowsfall I'm a recent convert to epilating, used to have waxing and it's so much more convenient (and cheaper)
Tealady so sorry you and your dd had to experience that

...catching up with posts again later as dd normally dear/darling daughter is currently being 'doing-my-head-in daughter'...back later...:)
