Just a quick visit as I'm at work. My 5 for yesterday:

    1. Delicious curry at a new curry house. Huge portions!

    2. My friend picking up the tab for the meal, which was very reasonably priced.

    3. Hearing that my friend's friend does want to rent my house whilst I'm away, on a long term (4-5 years) basis. And she wants to be a lodger before I go, so I'll get some extra money for the travel fund.

    4. Getting shot of an irksome job at work - all done and sorted.

    5. Yummy rice salad for lunch - a nice light summery lunch.

    6. All the bits and pieces that I'd ordered arriving - stuff for my netbook and some storage bags for my stuff when I'm away.

    Have a good day, everyone.
Life is not a dress rehearsal.

    Hello

Hope you're all feeling well with the bout of sunnyness that has appeared again :) and no more cats have lost their tails! Poor kittykat, glad it's ok.

    1. Going to see my little nanny tonight as OH is doing some work there. She makes me laugh with her faffing and mumbles :)
    2. Watched Gavin and Stacey online last night while waiting for the tumble dryer. I was almost glad I had to stay up for it to finish!
    3. Made a bag charm and then earrings for my Rockabilly costume last night. Fun fun.
    4. Looking forward to getting more washing done tonight!
    5. Also looking forward to eating lunch... I'm hungry already... gah.
    6. It's sunny :T
    7. Going to tidy my room tonight and it will be lush to be in once again.
    8. Went to bed last night in my plush pjs, what a treat.
    9. The cat wanted a cuddle when I got in from work yest; apart from the jumping on my lap while I had a plate of sandwich on there, it was quite sweet.
    10. Probably going to watch a film tonight and chill out with OH. Simple and lovely.

Have a lovely day all

I didn't forget to post last night, I wrote one of me epics to include everyone, honest! Then I fell asleep and must have hit the wrong button because when I came to, there it was gone . So tonight I will post before I go to bed, not when I'm in there all comfy and cozy :o

Hope everyone is enjoying the return of the fine weather, pleased it's like this for the children's half term :T

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunnier weather!

    My 5 today:

    1. Friend over for lunch and we all enjoyed butternut squash and sweet potato soup (from freezer) with HM garlic french stick. Very yummy, even if I did rather overdo the garlic..
    2. We are chicken sitting a friend's 2 hens for a fortnight from today, so lots more eggs (and also noise, poo etc...ho hum)
    3. Made Slimming world HM fish and chips tonight so proud of myself for actually using a recipe from one of my books, rather than just looking at the pictures like I usually do!!
    4. Went to the garden centre and got geraniums to finish my planters on the decking, also planted up sweet peas and a morning glory with tall canes for them to climb up.
    5. Bought reduced (had voucher) copy of Gardener's World Mag as it had vouchers for 2 for 1 at local NT gardens until mid July. My OH says he will come with me to one or two and might even treat me to a cream tea!

    Evening all.

Well, my dear cat paid be back very generously for giving him a chicken supper - he pee'd all over the bag of cat litter. It's the kind that goes solid when it gets wet, so I've now got three quarters of a bag of unusable cat litter. I swear he's going to be turned into fur mittens one of these days...

Anyway, this thread is about pleasures, not feline irritations, so:

    1) Managed to fix my 'broken' hairdrier - all it needed was a new fuse. Now why didn't I think of that yesterday?

    2) A very productive day after yesterday's extreme laziness - the kitchen floor's washed, the rest of the flat's dusted and vacuumed, the bathroom's cleaned (a bit half-heartedly, but it's done), two lots of washing are done and out on the line, and I managed some studying too. Unsurprisingly, I'm smiley-sleep024.gif

    3) Discovering the two lots of washing aren't dry. That's a bit of a backwards pleasure, but it means I can't pack my bag for the weekend, so I don't have to feel guilty that I haven't (IYSWIM).

    4) Dropped off a few bits at a local charity shop - they'll be getting stuff again as, unlike the last shop I donated too, this lot actually said thank you.

    5) Relaxing now with a very well-deserved cold beer. smiley-eatdrink009.gif

Ginger Snap - your lunch sounds lovely. Personally I don't think it's possible to have too much garlic in anything. ;)

sparrer - sorry you lost your post, but I hope you got a good sleep, anyway. :)

ginnyknit - good luck with your ricotta. If it goes well, could you let me know how you made it, please? I've been talking about making some HM soft cheese for some time, and ricotta would be wonderful (spinach and ricotta lasagne - mmm!)

Shadowsfall - my sister and I refer to our mum's mum as 'our little nanny' - I'm not sure why as she's the same height as me. It's an odd coincidence, though.

savingforoz - I'm glad you've sorted out a tenant for your flat, and it's particularly good that it's going to work out as an extra source of money for you, too.

Tealady - sounds like you had a really nice day out yesterday. I've only been to the V&A once but I loved it - it's a bit of a trek from where I am now, but I'll have to make the effort and see if it's as good as I remember.

Kitchenbunny - I hope your baking went well today. I'm glad you haven't posted a list of what you made yet as I haven't had dinner and it would only make me feel hungry. ;)

molly - I hope your finger's better today. I've made a habit of cutting myself badly recently, so you have my sincere sympathy.

newlywed (from yesterday, but I didn't get round to responding) - I really hope your contact with the agency works out for you - my fingers are tightly crossed in your direction.
    *******************

I won't be around until next week now - my DM's coming to stay with me tomorrow and Friday, then I'm going to my parents' place for their local fete - it's huge, with live music, craft stalls and a food festival (), so I'm really looking forward to it. See you all when I get back!

Back after a very long break!

Ok, here are my five for the day! CCP, if you haven't had tea yet, look away now :p

    1. Making chorizo empanadillas (little pasties), garlic and herb pastry twists and low-fat apricot cake bars. The cake tin is well and truly stocked!
    2. There are some chives flowering in the garden, I thought I'd dug them all up, but no! They're attracting the bees in the evening sun - beautiful.
    3. Eating up a tin of soup that had been in the cupboard for about a year and a half. It wasn't up to much, but at least I don't have to worry about it going out of date!
    4. Epilating. It's nice to have smooth legs without shaving. :)
    5. It hasn't rained. Yet!

Ahh, the end of another day. I had a broken night's sleep last night, so no doubt there'll be another of those tonight. It always seems like I can't sleep when it's warm, and it is fairly warm this evening. Oh well... The empanadillas are just lovely - so tasty - and perfect (in my view). I meant to get some photos of them, but right now I'm sat down and it feels like too much work :p Take my word for it; they're tasty though!

    Have a lovely evening, everyone.

sparrer sorry to hear you're not having the best of times

    Yesterday
    1) breakfast in bed courtesy dp
    2) cuddles from dd
    3) spending the day enjoying wandering around the Mall whilst buying clothes etc. that we really needed
    4) treating ourselves to lunch at Carluccio's and it being a lot less than we thought it would be
    5) visting the local garage as there was a knocking noise at the front of the car, and discovering it was a broken shock absorber bracket, costing £200 to fix because the bracket and shock absorber are one unit. It could've been so much worse though, and the garage guy got the part and fixed it within the hour
    6) an early night watching repeats of QI and Mock The Week

    Today
    1) breakfast in bed courtesy dp
    2) cuddles from dd
    3) enjoying an hour by myself at the local library whilst dp and dd had a haircut
    4) getting a mini greenhouse from Wilco's for £10
    5) Asda pizza for tea loaded with six toppings!

    Evening everyone...

Phew! I'm really sleepy. I was up late last night watching the season finale for CSI NY and then did a 12 stretch in the office. Though I did manage to escape over lunch to look at new glasses. I bought mine about 7 months ago and they have never fitted properly. The ones I have chosen are half the price of my origninal ones. At first they didn't want to refund me the difference but I think that they are coming round to my way of thinking! Fingers crossed. They adjusted my current ones but have made them worse :( Really annoing since I won't have time until I get back from Norway to get them adjusted again.

    1) Got loads done at work. I am project lead for something and the team that I had been allocated were not particuarly enthusiastic at the kick off meeting - but the meeting today went a lot better and I managed to delegate a whole load of work so am a happy bunny!

    2) The person who's birthday cakes I made last night worked from home today so missed out on the cakes which went down a storm. We saved him a slice though.

    3) Walk into town in the sunshine at lunch time.

    4) NSD - 2nd of the month

    5) Some nice emails from several colleagues saying thank you for the work I had done for them.

    Have a great evening.

Girlysquare - I am very jealous of you having lunch at Carluccios! We haven't tried it yet, is it good? We love Piccolino's in Cabot Circus, but it's not very MSE, so its a rare treat these days.

    Good evening all,
My cut finger is much better now, I have been so accident prone recently its become a running joke in our family:o :rotfl:

    Here are todays 5:

    - It was my routine blood test today (not a pleasure in itself). But it gets it out of the way for a while and I no longer need them done every 2 weeks, I only have to go monthly from now on :j.
    - Got some bits of handwashing done and dried on the line.
    - Started packing for holidays, still 8 days to go though.
    - Healthy tea of vegetable cous cous and chicken.
    - (Hopefully) an early night with my book.
