5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Hi all
No show yesterday, sorry, so much to do and so little time, where did I ever find the time to work?
Sparrer, sorry to hear about your friend and that you are feeling down (((HUGS)))
house elf - definitely in tune with you on the cream tea, however I was really disciplined and asked for mine without clotted cream and also gave DH almost half the cakes (but ate my sandwiches and scone all by myself!).
Here is a handful of pleasures in random order:
1 - The rain watered my garden
2 - The sun is back and I am back in flip flops and sleeveless tops
3 - Visited the allotment with DH, it is a glorious little corner plot, you would not even know you are in London!
4 - Discovered that quite a lot of the allotment holders already know me, in fact my immediate neighbour is a midwife who I used to know when I was a doula, she is a lovely woman! It looks like there is a great opportunity for making new friends, everybody seems very friendly and welcoming!
5 - Today I started a volunteering little job, with an organisation that helps older people, I went in with the development worker to a woman's home and started helping her put her paperwork in some sort of order. Very pleasant woman, a good experience altogether.
6 - After leaving the woman we went for tea and a cake in the Reminscence centre in Blackheath
7 - To make up for cake I was super-extra disciplined and only had banana and soya yogurt for lunch.
8 - Also dinner was very disciplined (Slimming-World-wise) but delicious: green lasagna with spinach and mushrooms, no tomato sauce, just wet by vegetable stock and then in oven, it was delicious. Followed by fennel and tomato salad, then an apple.
9 - I am starting seeing a difference in my body shape after nearly 2 weeks being careful about what I eat. No big effort, just being mindful. Size 16 skirts no longer tight at the waist! Not weighed myself yet, though, but plan to do so when I come back from holiday.
10 - Discovered that DH is in fact entitled to quite a bit of holidays so his last day in his old job is on Friday, then 1 week to the Isle of Wight, then back for a few days then weekend in Cardiff. After this he starts working in his new job, but because he would have been still entitled to a few more leave days he is going to get them paid off in lieu. WINNER!
Now I am off to bed to read my mags. Love to everybody xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Evening,
CCP - Hope you have a lovely time with your parents
Mine for today:
1. Enjoying a quiet hour to myself this morning before DD was up and about. Spent the time reading.
2. Bit more time spent in the garden but had to give up as the pollen got to my eyes. They are still itchy now.
3. There was a bit of an incident on the bus back from town (a horrible racist man was shouting lots of racist comments on the bus) so DD and I got off and walked home instead. Pleasure is DD didn't witness any violence which I felt it could reach quite easily plus we enjoyed the walk.
4. DD cooked dinner tonight for everyone by herself. She made spaghetti bolognaise and it was very nice. She does take after her father in the kitchen though and likes to use every utensil she can lay her hands on.
5. Prepared some veg that was starting to wilt. All bagged up and in the freezer ready for use another day.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Thank you everybody for your kind thoughts and wishes. It was of course a foregone conclusion that my lovely friend would go to hospital eventually, and while it doesn't make it any easier to deal with I know he's safe and getting the very best care.
My 5
1. The weather, of course
2. Spent the morning with DD and the family, DSiL made the shutters for my beach hut while I was there, cutting a heart-shape out of them before I took them home for painting
3. DS phoned, his OH is on holiday with some girl friends and seems he and the children are having a great time with football, DS3 (whatever that means) going to the beach etc. He's just a big kid at heart
4. A friend in America, who I lost contact with some time ago, made contact via Facebook. We have a lot of catching up to do
5. Called in to Mr M on the way home from DD, got 241 Magnums, yummy, and 2 x 90p Linx shower gels for the Christmas present box.. I saved almost £4...of course I'd have saved a lot more if I hadn't bought the Magnums but you have to have a treat now and again
Night night, sweet dreams

Sounds like you're a Bristol girl, molliethewestie, like me!
My 5 for yesterday:
1. New season NCIS on TV - cracking good episode last night.
2. Delicious homemade chilli. I used black eyed beans instead of kidney beans and it made a good change.
3. Nice chilled evening at home.
4. Moving things along with Mum's care home funding - got a nice fat cheque last night for the amount overpaid so far.
5. Seeing piccies of a MSE-er's newborn kitten on Facebook. So very cute!Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
Girly pardon my ignorance but what is a dp? I see it on your pleasures every time you post but never know what it means. Have also seen a DM on the thread recently and at a loss as to what that stands for also. What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0

Hello lovely people5. Planted out my giant pumkins - as far from the house as poss!Shadowsfall - my sister and I refer to our mum's mum as 'our little nanny' - I'm not sure why as she's the same height as me. It's an odd coincidence, though.Kitchenbunny wrote: »4. Epilating. It's nice to have smooth legs without shaving.Girly pardon my ignorance but what is a dp? 1. Getting very near to finishing a project at work that has taken weeks longer to do than anticipated as it kept evolving under my hands! So I'm glad it'll be done today. :T
2. It's so nice driving to work when the sun is shining and the kids are off school! The traffic is so much calmer.
3. We got Orange wireless broadband last night so no more bad connections!
4. Enjoying my subscribed threads on here and chatting to everyone on them.
5. Wearing summery clothes today, it's really nice. Tuesday's weather made me appreciate that! :cheesy:
6. Dyed a few more things last night so that was good. It's like their new again in a way.
7. When I got home yesterday I could smell the river from the garden (it's quite a way and there are a lot of trees in between) and it was so nice. It's a good smell - clean and earthy. :starmod:
8. My nails are looking pretty good atm. I took the polish off yesterday and they've held up well with a day off. PYNT I think!
9. My cardigan smells like Tangerines coz I washed it with soapnuts and essential oil. Gets things really clean and smells lovely.
10. Made a scrapbook by hand rather than paying £10+ for one. Was pleased that I saved the money and created it myself.
Have a great day0 -
Shadowsfall - I love my epilator! I've had mine for 8 years now  and wouldn't be without it. I do try to get a bit braver than doing just my legs, but so far haven't "plucked" up the courage
Here's my five pleasures for today:
1. Again, rabbit-spotting on the station this morning. It always starts my day nicely when I see wildlife in urban areas.
2. Going on a bit of a shopping spree at the local supermarket for some retail therapy and only spending £2.78! I feel really good about myself and did get a lot of stuff. I bought (singly) an apple, a pear and a kiwi fruit (as knowing me I'd either forget about them or not eat them) and some scouring pads, a packet of Thai curry paste for tea, some Value crisps (24p) and a carton of passata. I'm sad, I know, but Mr Ms Value Range packaging reminds me of the Dharma initiative brand in Lost! Geek humour
3. The sunshine. It is really quite therapeutic, even if I had to carry my fleece back from work.
4. A spot of sewing. My cross stitch is coming along nicely and I'm hoping to get it finished by the autumn so I can start on something new. Although I've not framed the big project from last year yet... I'll get to it
5. An old gent courteously told me that ladies should walk on the inside of a path and that made me smile. I sometimes wonder if chivalry is dead, and every so often I'm reminded otherwise.
Not much planned for this evening. I've come back from work exhausted and in dire need of a soak, but for some bizarre reason I'm feeling like cleaning house. I'll cook tea in a mo and then put my feet up - I've planned a big cleaning session for Saturday.Hope everyone has a lovely evening.
Kitchenbunny xx
Trying for daily wins, and a little security in an insecure world.0 -

4.Enjoying a tea of pasta and left-over parma ham, cooked by kind OH
5.Looking forward to partaking in some chocolate and very non-slimming world ice-cream later to celebrate number 3!0 -
