Hi everyone,
CCP - thanks for the virtual hugs. I had a chat with my mum on the phone last night which cheered me up.
Acey - sorry to hear about your cat - glad he's ok now even if he is minus a tail!
Carolyntia - Best of luck for your new start tomorrow!
Gingersnap - mummy and baby foxes? well I am sure it made sense to them!
Newlywed - Glad to hear that you are feeling positive and your plants are growing well
Molly - Yummy - I love the sound of the peach upside down cake!
Kitchenbunny - well done on doing all your ironing. Despite my very good intentions mine is still in a heap on the armchair in the lounge...
Sparrer - isn't it nice when our brothers spoil us?
Tealady- thank you for your kind words. I am quite a strong, independant and determined person who would never admit to being homesick in the real world so it is nice to be able admit it here and not be judged for it.
Savingforoz - what book are you reading? anything good?
1) Baking bread rolls to take round to a friend for a late lunch
2) planting out my herbs and my blueberry bush
3) NSD - that is the 12th that I recorded in May, though I think that there may have been one or 2 more.
4) Lunch with my friends who are about to move to London... and we were lamenting the fact that it is so difficult to meet men these days. I thought it might be a straight girl thing but apparently it is just as difficult for gay men.
5) My salad is all ready for work tomorrow. So I am going to have cheese rolls with mixed salad, potato salad and coleslaw. YUM
Have a fabulous evening and hope you all have a good week.
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Welcome new posters, I'll catch up with posts as soon as I've finished watching Terry Pratchett
Yesterday
1) breakfast in bed courtesy dp
2) cuddles from dd
3) visiting Whitehall garden centre, with free activities for dd
4) eating first home grown produce from the mini greenhouse, a cucumber
5) a friend looking after dd whist we visited mum
6) visiting mum, although she's down she's thinking practically and she did ring the hospital rather than leaving things to go from bad to worse, I'm hoping this is a good sign
7) chatting with friend and partner afterwards, whilst enjoying a glass or two...
Today
1) breakfast in bed courtesy dp
2) cuddles from dd
3) dp looking after me whilst I was suffering from a massive hangover...
4) planting up dig in French beans
5) watching Terry Pratchett's Going Postal and Richard Coyle"We have to be kind because everyone is fighting a great, great battle" - Sir Richard Attenborough
"There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women" - Madeleine Albright0 -
Acey - welcome back! Sorry to hear about your cat.
Here are todays pleasures:
- Lots of gardening done. Weeded the front garden and got rid of all the dead plants. DH sorted out the wasp nest that had taken over our shed too!
- Getting my pre-pregnancy clothes out from storage and finding lots of clothes I had forgotton about, including a pair of jeans that fit me perfectly:j.
- Did a meal plan using only food I have in the house, so I shouldn't have to buy any groceries this week.
- Fake out night (love that term!) Homemade pizza for tea with some of my favourite toppings: shredded chicken, bacon, sweetcorn and cheese.
- Watching Going Postal on TV. I am no fan of Terry Pratchett normally, but I have really enjoyed this and might give his books a try again.Value of prizes 2010 - 2017: £8374 Wins 2022: Magic set
Debt free thanks to MSE0 -
Carolyntia, wishing you all the best for your new job.
CCP - the problem with Portsmouth is that I no longer live there...obviously I was a calming influence. I spent 10 very happy years in Pompey - seems another lifetime ago now.
Acey - so sorry to hear about your cat's tail. Please give Puss a kiss and cuddle from Auntie Savingforoz.
Ladyhawk - the book was "On Writing", by Stephen King. It's part autobiography and part advice for wannabe writers (like me). It's so funny, even when he's talking about the bad parts of his life, like being an alcoholic and drug addict.
My 5 for today:
1. Making bread and smelling that gorgeous smell wafting through my house.
2. Getting started on setting up my sexy new netbook - did all the set up procedures, partitioned the hard drive, sorted out backups, etc, and set up my new external hard drive. Now to sort getting my programs and data on there. I'll do it all piecemeal over the next few days.
3. Being able to wake up without the alarm clock and being able to go to the gym at 9am rather than either 6.30am or 7am, as I usually do. Did a good 40 minute cardio session.
4. Getting a refund for the sleeping bag that I bought, so more money in the coffers this month.
5. Having another go at meditating. It's something I've been meaning to do for ages, but somehow the time never felt right. Now it does and I've had a few goes at it - one didn't work so well when I fell asleep instead! I do find it very difficult - my mind is wandering off on lots of other things and I can't seem to keep it focused for more than half a minute! I'm sure that's probably quite normal for beginners.Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
Evening,
Acey - Welcome back glad the cats ok
Mine for today:
1. Lots of cuddles of DD this morning, she wasn't feeling too well so reverted back to being a child rather than the stroppy teenager we normaly get these days
2. Both DD and I needed flat shoes. Managed to get some for both of us in Debenhams on a buy one get one half price.:money:
3. Lovely dinner of gnochi and bolognaise bake toppe with three cheeses (which means all the bits of cheeses that were lurking in the fridge)~
4. Few bargains in waitrose
5. Knowing I don't have to go to work tomorrow:j
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Hi all
late so quick update.
Yesterday pleasure: lazed all day in bed, also other pleasures but the main one was really giving myself permission to do absolutely ZILCH, I really needed it!
Today:
1 - Out and about with DH
2 - Visited a lovely exhibition of Renaissance drawings at the British Museum (Fra Angelico to Leonardo), of course used 2 for 1 vouchers!
3 - Had a voucher for reduced price cream teas and we used that too
4 - I was really "good" and had no clotted cream and even gave a little bit of my cakes to DH, for the sake of self discipline. Very proud of myself
5 - I have eaten so little around this treat that I feel ok about it (had a few nuts and a banana for breakfast and then a very light, fat free veg soup in the evening)
6 - The best pleasure was to have made contact with my sister who now lives in Spain via facebook (with whom I have had hardly any contact for years), she persuaded me to download skype and we spent the last couple of hours catching up
7 - My sister sent me some amazing music (sevillanas) that I love but had lost the tape, now I have them on the pC!
Good night everybody xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
A bit low this evening as my lovely friend isn't doing too well and has gone into hospital today. However I'm sure I can make five..
1. After letting the furpets out and making a cup of tea, I went back to bed and had a lie-in til 9.30am
2. Cut back an ivy which was threatening to take over the fence. For the first time ever my hands didn't itch or swell up when I scooped it into the bin, which usually happens even though I wear gardening gloves. Hoping this means I'm at last becoming immune but will still be extra careful
3.Cleared the lawn of pots and planters in prep for mowing but it started a very fine rain so hopefully will do it tomorrow. It saved me the arduous task of watering this evening
4. Phoned DM this morning, which is her actual birthday, it sounded like she had a party going on in her flat! Phoned her this evening to say good night and she had more friends in. Pleased she lives in sheltered accom so she's not on her own today
5. Changed handbags and found £2.40p,which is more for the holiday fund :j. Every little helps
Night night, hugs to anyone going through a difficult time just now
