Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
Evening all, and particularly to new posters!

    Here's my five for today:

    1) Not bad weather after yesterday - it's still very windy, but at least the rain's gone.

    2) Arranged to go and see my parents next weekend (well, it's arranged as long as the friend I'm seeing this evening agrees to look after my cat, anyway :o). I haven't seen my dad for more than a couple of hours since Christmas, and then I had flu so we didn't get much chance to chat. :(

    3) Finished stripping a rubber chicken I put in the freezer earlier this month - it's a cold, messy sort of job, but I always find it rather satisfying.

    4) The hostas I planted earlier this week are very happy and throwing out loads of new leaves - and, thanks to a judicious application of organic slug-repellent, the leaves haven't been munched yet. :)

    5) Meeting friends for a drink later this evening. I just hope it doesn't turn into an argument over my refusal to go for a curry like it did last time - I lose my appetite after about 9pm, but one of my friends insists on seeing it as a personal insult that I don't want to go with them.

    Have a nice evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

    Hi everyone,

    Hope you are all well.

    1) Feeling a little sad this afternoon. I don't get homesick often but for some reason I had a bout of severe homesickness complete with tears this afternoon! I don't cry! Having a good cry occassionally is rather thereputic though.

    2) Took a block of cheese back to Asd@ as it was slimy and had a weird something growing on it. The nice lady at customer services thought that it might be a batch problem as it wasn't the first lot she had had back.

    3) A few whoopsied fruit - blacberries and strawberries which have been frozen for a time when I can be bothered to make jam and some gorgeous mangoes. My local Asd@ has far fewer whoopsied items then the one near work which always seems to have loads.

    4) Popped into HB to pick up some small plant pots for the herbs that I had bought from Asd@ (50p each) and ended also buying more tomato and strawberry plants. I seriously have a problem with buying veggie plants! 8 plants only cost me about £3 though so at least they were MSE.

    5) Lovely veggie soup that I made with all the whoopsied veggies from Thursday.

    Enjoy he beank holiday

    1) Going to my nephews birthday
    2) Seeing all the children have fun on the bouncy castle
    3) Watching SiL with my DD and her making her giggle
    4) Bringing cake home from the party for tonight
    5) Finally figuring out a combination of veg to go into my carbonara which actually tasted scrummy

Ladyhawk, I also bought some of the 50p Asd@ herbs (coriander, basil and parsley)...was wondering about planting the parsley into the garden. Do you think it would survive or should i just put into a larger pot and keep in the kitchen?

    My 5 for today:

    1. Waking up late knowing my DS (9) could be relied upon to let the chickens early so they weren't squawking the neighbourhood out!
    2. Getting free tickets to see the local circus from a friend and taking him, his daughter and my DD out for a nice, cheap afternoon's entertainment
    3. Enjoying a really yummy Nigella recipe ham in cola for tea with jacket potatoes, chutneys and salad
    4. With a lot of planning bringing the Asd@ shop for the week in at £93...sounds a lot but usually we spend at least £140 so progress is being made...
    5. Seeing my roses are starting to bloom in the garden, I am esp. loving a very fragrant shell pink one

    Hi All,

Attempt No 2 at posting:mad: Everything disappeared when my laptop sneakily decided to update something. Beautiful sunny evening here, but too windy to pop out into the garden to plant some more veg. Will wait until tomorrow.

    Yesterday

    1. Popped up to the market while DS2 did his dance class. 20 avocados for £1. So.......
    2. Avocado and prawn starter when friends came for tea.
    3. Gay pride parade brightened up a rainy Sat afternoon. Ooooo they must have been chilly in some of those outfits;)
    4. Coupon shopping in MrT. Even the checkout guy was impressed.
    5. Friends brought their new iPads over. Very beautiful and stylish piece of kit. It was nice to touch even if I can't afford.

    Today

    1. Made Gloop.
    2. Nice salad lunch of Nigella Ham, (Snap to Ginger Snap!), LO prawns and more avocado.
    3. All children out for tea, so nice easy thai curry from the freezer for DH and me.
    4. Free film. 'Shes Out of My League'. Thanks to See Film First. Better than I thought it would be. DS1 would really like it, but he is not 15 until August!
    5. Got all the dishwasher washing up done by Economy 7 and washing on the line to dry. Yay!

Berniesmaster - Yes I am a teacher. I teach maths to 14 -19 yr olds with sp needs. This is only my second year of teaching, I'm not a maths specialist and I'm nearly 50, and some days are really hard and tiring, but I love it!:rotfl:

    Happy hols:) HE x

Hi everyone. Not posted on here for a few months.
    Mine for today are:-
    1. Sleeping in until 9.45am, after a late night's telly.
    2. Two steaming mugs of tea in bed.
    3. Admiring all our veg and herb plants that are growing beautifully.
    4. Cooking and eating a roast pork shoulder dinner, with homemade apple sauce, roast potatoes, cauliflower and broccoli cheese and chanternay carrots and peas and gravy. And a rather lovely, chilled bottle of sauvignon blanc to go with it all.
    5. Watching telly with the French doors open and listening to the birds chirping and singing.

All is right with my world. Hope it is with yours too!

    Hi Ginger,

I'd plant mine into the garden, except my little darlings would wee on it and I prefer my herbs to not taste of cat wee!! (in fact Felix likes to squat over my tiny courgette plants... if he is not careful he is going to be made into gloves sooner than he realises!!)

So mine will be in little pots on the windowsill for a few weeks and then I will put them outside with all my other pots.

Evening all! It's so nice that it's Sunday evening and yet I don't have to go into work tomorrow. I have earmarked the time to get my shiny new netbook up and running.

    My five for today:

    1. Buying my new sleeping bag then getting it home and realising that it was obviously made for people no taller than say 5'. There's nothing on it that says it's a child's bag, yet it came up to somewhere just north of my boobs. So it's going back for a refund, which is more money saved, as the one I have, whilst old, is probably still OK for the job. So, some money saved there.

    2. Meeting friends and going to a fair down by the waterfront in Bristol. It's been a lovely sunny day, there was music and I resisted all attempts by the stallkeepers to part me from my money. Plus I got some useful tips from my techie friend about setting up the netbook.

    3. Taking advantage of the sunshine to walk part of the way to the fair, so getting some useful free exercise. I wore my pedometer and when I got home I'd clocked up nearly 14,000 steps.

    4. Making a new batch of soya yoghurt.

    5. Picking up, and reading, one of the books that I'd requested from the Central Library.

    6. Getting a call from my gym buddy to say that the woman who may become my tenant will be in Bristol next weekend and wants to come and talk with me. Thanks, N, you're a star!
