This is my first posting on the boards, though I have been lurking for ages enjoying this thread. Please be gentle with me if I make a mess of my posting!
My 5 pleasures for today:
1. One of my chickens has been off the lay for a week or so and looking sad (we thought the worst..) but it turns out she was just moulting and she laid a gorgeous extra-big egg this morning! I was so proud of her.
2. OH made a delicious quorn bolognese for tea and I remembered to freeze the extra for a lunch in the week
3. DD came back from her friend's tonight with a bag of rhubarb and half a delicious victoria sponge courtesy of her lovely nan.
4. I washed the kitchen floor (was disgustingly bad!) and found it strangely therapeutic
5. Watching the sparrows taking our chicken's moulted feathers in their beaks to line their nests.0 -

Evening all! My 5 for today:
1. The smell of my wholemeal rolls baking. Yum!
2. Coming home to my curry bubbling away in the slow cooker.
3. My monthly grocery shop costing less than I'd allocated to it.
4. Finding a cheap sleeping bag in Tesco that's just the right size to fit in my rucksack.
5. Good session at the gym and feeling great afterwards.Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
Evening everyone!
WELCOME GINGERSNAP AND ZEDDY:hello:
Tealady - Joe Bonnamassa sounds like he plays the type of stuff I like - bluesy rock. who would you compare him to?
1) Laughing at how interesting you find my job - yes I am very lucky but it is not without it's pain, stress and extreme frustration.
2) Going to watch the Guinness Premiership Final at Twickenham - as a completely disinterested spectator it was a great game. Made even better by the fantastic tickets we had which were on the halfway line.
3) "Fixed" my vacuum cleaner... turns out it wasn't broken in the first place
4) Going to the rugby with a colleague and her daughter who live in the enxt town over. It was a really fun day out.
5) Meeting my friend K and her lovely boyfriend for a drink aftern the rugby. I haven't seen her for a few months so it was lovely to see her.
I am shattered... so snoozy time for Ladyhawk!
Sleep well
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
house elf hope you get a nice refund from the IR, don't let them hang on to it til the end of the tax year. They're terrible for trying to do that
savingforoz good that the finance for your DMs fees has been sorted, another dept that likes to make things difficult for us, and themselves. Well done on finding the right sized sleeping bag
CCP we both have talking cats, one of mine comes in and says 'good morning', the other one only says 'hello'...well I think so, anyway. I'm with you on the Eurovision song contest
Kitchenbunny, drumsticks and fruit cake, yummy. What time's dinner?
bernies pleased you got the shower fixed. Have a great holiday and come back raring to go
Tealady rofl at the bald heads and extra space - I know just what you mean :rotfl:
Zeddy welcome -congrats on the lie in. What a clever/brave little DD in the pool
molly good that you're getting the guttering fixed, hope you manage to get the stains out of the bedding.
GirlySquare isn't it good when you find a book you haven't read? They don't last unread for long though. So sorry to hear about your mum but at least you have the week off to visit her. Wishing her well.
Ginger Snap welcome. Pleased your chicken started to lay again, there's nothing like 'home grown' eggs. Lol at the sparrows recycling the feathers :T
Ladyhawk pleased you enjoyed the game,it's a favourite of mine. Congrats at 'fixing' the vac cleaner...better than paying out a small fortune at the electrical shop
my 5
1. Went shopping for some 1 foot square paving slabs but no luck, so came home with 2 bras and a bag of chocolate fudge. That's perfectly logical, isn't it?
2. Postie brought my the £1.99p tree peony I sent for, thanks to the Freebies Low Spend board :T
3. The Susan Boyle Story, and Eurovision Song Contest. Managed not to miss too much of either by using the breaks on 3, and switching over during the boring bits on 1. Wish I could work out how to use the replay thingo
4. Big bowl of pasta, pesto and Parmesan for dinner followed by half the blackcurrant cheesecake I found yesterday
5. Just had a shower and tan in prep for a big day tomorrow...going to my DB's house where the family is going to celebrate DM's 89th birthday. I have the tedious drive again and an early start so will say
night night, sleep well

Hi all
I thought I was going to put today's pleasures but just realised that they are yesterday's instead as it is past midnight!
Here they are:
1 - Breakfast in bed courtesy of DH (the natural order is being restored hehehe)
2 - Walk and tea in a cafe with my friend (not far because of rainy day but good company and nice tea)
3 - Easy lunch of leftovers from last night (veg chili con carne and rice) mixed with a tin of sweetcorn to stretch, fed 3 of us easily!
4 - Pleasant restful afternoon reading the saturday paper
5 - This is a fantastic pleasure, I went with an Italian friend to see a concert by an Italian singer, Claudio Baglioni, at the Royal Albert Hall. We had an amazing time and it was a real walk into memory lane! I laughed, cried, shouted, danced, clapped my hands and stomped my feet, together with dozens of other Italian fans there, it was truly a glorious evening!
6 - As I had £2 credit to spend on MP3 downloads from Amazon (an offer I had for a few days) I downloaded my 3 favourite Claudio Baglioni songs, of course!
Good night everybody xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Helllllooooooooooooo!

3)Mooched about town in the rain yesterday but got lots of jobs done
4) Scrummy lunch of ys pate and bread
5) Lovely misty walk in the evening - a bit damp but very invigorating!
Have a great Sunday - will pop back later with today's pleasures!Clearing debt to save for a simple wedding.Starting 2016 With debt of £77000 -
Morning all
Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend, shame the weather isn't like it was this time last week - typical! My five for yesterday:
1. A lie in until 9am then a long hot bath instead of my usual super-quick shower.
2. A lazy afternoon at home reading, pottering and lots of cuddling with the kids
3. Easy tea of hotdogs and curly fries eaten in front of tv, watching You've been Framed, DS (23m) loves it when people fall over lol
4. A few glasses of rose wine and some new to me mags to look at
5. A talk with DH when the kids were asleep, making plans - so excited now! :j
Take care all
