    Hi Everyone

Berniesmaster - everything was sounding so great until you mentioned the shower etc

Savingforoz - could you send me the hummus recipe please?

I'll try and find more pleasures today...

    1) making a snail and a sheep out of plasticine at work today. I have so much to do but there was a pack of plasticine on my desk which was begging to be used. They both turned out well.

    2) NSD (11th of the months that I have recorded... there may have been a couple more)

    3) Lovely homemade bread to wake up to. I've started adding a third wholemeal flour to it which is really yummy. So I had peanut butter and apricot jam on toast for brekkie (don't knock it until you've tried it!)

    4) Senior management were out of the office today so there was some laughter (and making of little models)

    5) Free ice creams from the sample freezer... I love the new magnums!

There we go - a much improved list of pleasures on yesterday.

    Have a wonderful weekend everyone

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

    Hi all

Savingforoz, watch the OS meet thread as there has been a request for a Saturday fish and chip shop meet (you can have all sorts of vegan things there, too, including very nice salad and fav mushy peas, and probably among the best chips in London!). We always have a great time and it would be great to see you again!

Here are my pleasures for today:

1 - After a difficult moment with DS we managed to patch up and clarify the issue.

2 - The weather is still holding and I am enjoying it while I can!

3 - Found a whole load of tiny 70's dresses in a skip, they say size 12 but it is more a size 6-8 of nowadays! Will make marvelous Morsbags with the fabric and save the buttons, ribbons and zips for my own sewing projects. The offcuts will be turned into patchwork Morsbags!

4 - Two lots of laundry (including the skip clothes) done and out in the garden drying.

5 - My friend came and we had a short (but fun) Morsbag session.

6 - A wonderful piece of news: the council called me today and we have finally been allocated an allotment, a small-ish one (which suits us fine), very near our home. Can't wait to start digging!

7 - I am managing to stay on a Slimming-World-type eating plan and feel I might have lost some weight but I haven't weighed myself so I cannot be sure. I feel light and good and do not see quite so many chins when I look in the mirror, so that must be going well!

8 - A friend called me and said that she would come over after dinner to drop a few chili plants.

Have a great evening everybody xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

woo hoo, it's the weekend :):):)

    1. The sun has made a very welcome return to my area today :)
    2. DD's dance teacher has put her forward for her first ballet exam, I wasn't sure if she was ready but apparently she'll be fine!
    3. Did a Reverbe and found 1p
    4. Have done 99% of the packing for our holiday and the house isn't too much of a tip.....far less to do than I would normally have at this time of day before a holiday.
    5. Have booked myself in for a gym induction, just hope I'll be having a good back day that day. All I want to do is learn how to use the new-fangled machines and then I'll go and do a workout on a PAYG basis, doing as much as I feel I can, when I can.

Had a really bad night's sleep last night, I felt really miserable and unhealthy and got worried that I was going to die in bed with DD beside me and how unfair that would be on her!! Haven't felt like that since she was a baby and I was first on my own, wish I knew what triggered it so I can bundle it up and throw the negativity away :(

Anyway, hopefully as I've had a chilled out day today, I'll be able to rest tonight before our long drive to Devon, so not looking forward to the Stonehenge bit, it's always really congested around there!!

Hugs to all, I doubt I'll be back online before next Saturday, so hope everyone gets good news, has lovely days and lets the sunshine into their lives xx

Hi berniesmaster, not sounding silly at all, don't worry! I make an assumption that most people on this thread know what they are because I have been posting about them a few times, but of course this is not always the case.

Morsbags are fabric bags that a lot of people make with scrap fabric and then give them away for free to acquaintances, friends and also strangers. This means that the recipients will use less plastic bags, which cause untold damage to the environment and marine life. It all started here: www.morbsags.com where you can read the story. My friend and I are one of the "pods" who make them.

We do not give them to the general public because when we tried we found that people were very suspicious of receiving something free from strangers in the street . Instead, we decided to make contact with our local independent little shops and to give them a steady supply. The shop-keepers can either give them away to customers who do not already own a fabric or reusable bag, or "lend" them to people who perhaps forgot their own bag at home.

    This has a multiple effect:

1 - We have a constant demand and do not have to go looking for willing customers.

2 - We make a small contribution to the community by encouraging customers to return to the local shops (to return the bags or even just because once they make contact with our friendly shop-keepers they enjoy the personal shopping experience and keep returning there)

3 - The more morsbags are in circulation, the less plastic bags get used and end up doing damage to the environment

4 - We maintain an excellent personal relationship with our local businesses

5 - We hope that, at some point, someone sees someone else's morsbag and comments "hey, that used to be my curtain/pijamas/quilt cover/whatever...." and so we hope to promote more community spirit by getting people to interact

I could go on because I am a real morsbags fan, but I shall stop now otherwise I get preachy :rotfl:

    Hope this explains clearly! x

    Good evening all.

Kittikins - I'm sorry you had such horrible thoughts last night. I hope you sleep better tonight and enjoy your time in Devon - and good luck with the dreaded Stonehenge road (I know it well from my own childhood holidays :()

Caterina - :T on your excellent find - much better than them just going in the skip. :)

Ladyhawk - you always have such interesting things in your office. I wish we had anything interesting in mine - the occasional HM cake is about the best I can hope for.

berniesmaster - very well done on having to take the trousers back - it's always satisfying, isn't it? (Not that's it's happened to me often, tbh. :(:o)

savingforoz - only 4 months to go? Doesn't time fly! Enjoy your weekend playing with your new toy. ;)

newlywed - I know it must be hard, but try not to despair over the job situation - the perfect job is waiting out there for you somewhere. (This happened to my sister, so it's not just a theory! ;)) Good luck with your latest application - fingers crossed this is the one.

    Right, my five for today:

    1) Finally finishing my damn report just before lunch. I've never before been so glad to see the back of a document.

    2) Deciding I do like my banoffee flapjack / cake concoctions after all, which is actually a bit of a shame as I have no hope of recreating them.

    3) Found some huge packs of proper Italian ricotta in Waitrose, reduced to 25p. I bought two to put in the freezer, and would have bought more if I hadn't spent the past month trying to empty the freezer.

    4) Being asked by another shopper to confirm the bargain she'd spotted. Money savers can spot each other from opposite ends of a supermarket aisle, apparently. :)

    5) It's Friday. :) It's a Bank Holiday weekend. :D I've got the next two weeks off work. smiley-happy093.gif

And on that note, I must go and put my own fakeout dinner in the oven. Have a lovely weekend, all.
Back after a very long break!

    Good Evening all,
I need to catch up with you all still, but here are yesterdays and todays pleasures:

    Yesterday
    - Visit from health visitor for DD. She got the ok on her measurements (slightly under average weight and over average height, but nothing to worry about!) and she is doing everything she should be for her age. She was given the free bookstart bag of books and a free toothbrush and toothpaste.
    - As I was having a bad day, I decided to bake some Apple and Carrot mini muffins. Which are aimed at toddlers, but they hit the spot for grown ups too!
    - DH had a very long day (up at 4.45am back home at 8.30pm ) working in London and had the tube journeys from hell. So brought takeaway home for tea, which was a real treat.
    - After health visitor left, I noticed she had written a lovely little note in DDs record book, saying what a happy contented daughter we had and put next to it "Well Done Parents" :o
    - Running down the food stores. It seems to be working and I realised how little waste we create now, as we use every last thing.

    Today
    - Visit from my parents! Yay!
    - My Good Food magazine arrived, which I will go through this weekend and mark the recipes I want to try.
    - Boiler repair man came and the boiler was in perfect working order. It appears the leak came from broken guttering on the roof pouring water into the boiler vent . So we now have to get guttering fixed before we go on holiday .
    - Spoke to to a lovely local guttering repair man who says he will come out tomorrow to look at it :A
    - Chicken and bottom of the fridge vegetable stir fry for tea.
