Hugs newlwed, wish I could help, I understand how scary it is to be looking for work xx

nuttybabe - I find it quite funny when DD has her little moods, thankfully it only happens when she's tired, with suitcase-sized bags under her eyes, but it can be hard to not bite back at times, depending on how tired I am, time of the month etc....I just try to remember that she's only being like this because I've let her stay up too late and it's not a 'real' event, just a reaction/frustration to what's happening. When she's rested she's back to being my best friend again :0)

    1. DD's school work has been deemed so good it's gone to the headmaster for review and will be on display for visitors for a few months!
    2. DD was crowned writer of the week in class yesterday :)
    3. Hopefully my last working day in office until after half term, going to work from home tomorrow and get packing in between emails :)
    4. A bit of sun has returned, which really lifted my spirits, phew!
    5. Have started packing for our holiday on Saturday, yippee!
    6. Did another P!necone survey today, my second this month, lucky me :)
    7. Bought some proper (as opposed to £5 Mr A jobbies) trainers in anticipation of trying to start some proper exercise soon, back permitting. Sadly, I think I've spent a lot of June's clothing/other stuff budget already, this month has been HARD :(

Hi all, I am back online! Thank you everybody for your congratulations re. DH's new job, he is truly delighted and so am I!

The first news I picked up were the great news of Carolyntia's new job, CONGRATULATIONS, well done! It seems that a lot of people are moving jobs these days, I have a couple of small jobs in the pipeline, one is the childcare one that I had talked about before, but the second one is more interesting and related to the fact that I would like to start my own business doing administration and paperwork decluttering for people too busy or disorganised. A professional declutterer that I had contacted a few days ago asked me for an interview and wants me to help her with clients' paperwork! So I have a little trial job next week!

Too many pleasures to list for the last week or so, therefore I shall group them all together in a random order:

1 - Our Ukrainian guest was very pleasant (and not a mad axe murderer!).

2 - Good to have the house back to ourselves, though!

3 - The weather has been glorious

4 - Most of the veg plants that were inhabiting my bedroom (the only south-facing room not too accessible to the cats) have now been planted in the garden and seem to be thriving

5 - So many opportunities for work seem to be opening up for me out there!

6 - Seeing DH so happy for having finally got a job where his skills and seniority are being recognised (as well as having great conditions of service).

7 - Managing to keep the house tidy (if not terribly clean) most of the time.

8 - Today's special pleasure, a small but perfectly formed OS meet in Lewisham where I shared a delightful afternoon with LilacLillie and JackieO, we even had a text from Marie and I called her on the mobile and we all had a chat with her!

Good to be back and hope all of you are well xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    Evening everyone

Newlywed - Something will turn up soon for you i'm sure.

    Mine for today:
    1. Finally got all the invitations sent out for parents party in July
    2. Managed to sort out some of the accomodation problems for the party. This one has been getting to me as there was no where for my SIL and children to stay and I didn't want her to feel pushed out. My cousin is now going to let them stay there:)
    3. Easy dinner of pasta and tomato sauce for dinner.
    4. NSD today for me
    5. Deciding what training I'm going to do this year at work. Was undecided but the guys at work have helped me make an informed decision, just need to get it booked no.

Hugs to all who need them

Thanks for all your congratulations folks :D

Today has been a bit hard going. I found out this morning that I will be starting in Aberdeen on Tuesday . Scary! I don't feel like my feet have touched the ground. All I can think about are the million and one things I need to do.....getting more than a little stressed :o. I've got to go into work tomorrow to clear my desk and I know it's going to get emotional so I'm not keen. I'm planning on going in early to get it over and done with.

    Ok mine for today:

    1) Rang the mortgage company and everything is fine with them
    2) My bed and breakfast accommodation is sorted out
    3) Flight booked for Tuesday morning (still need to sort out a taxi)
    4) Arranged a hire car - I think I really need to start getting my bearings very quickly and the only way I know to do that is to drive about - got satnav so will travel
    5) Long chats with friend in Inverness, 10 year ex and the 2 year ex.
    6) 10 year ex is arriving tomorrow and is going to get the boxes out of the loft for me
    7) There's a street sale at mums on Monday and she's offered to sell some stuff for me if I take it over on Saturday or Sunday :)
    8) 2 year ex has promised to help with the house move
    9) Seen my lovely back garden ducks.....I'll be leaving a note to the new owners to make sure they are looked after

Thanks again for all the congratulations and messages. Hope you are all well and had a good day.

    C x

    1. Postie brought me my water bill, I owe them 89p so they say they're putting my DD up £6 a month. Oh, no they're not! A telephone call will soon sort that out. On the other hand I also had my electricity bill, they owe me £91 which, they say, they will carry over toward future bills. Oh, no they won't! I pay enough each month to get a credit of that much so a phone call will soon see the excess in My bank account, not theirs. The greatest pleasure here is putting these faceless corporations in their place :p

    2. A very kind freecycler gave me two big earthenware pots for my fuschia and alstroemeria which are bursting out of their currents homes :D

    3. I freecycled my hand held steam cleaner to a vintage car enthusiast for his engines. It was one of those gadgets one buys fully intending to clean everything in sight, but I gave up after two days living in a sauna :doh:and went back to stardrops, vinegar and bicarb

    4. Tidied the freezer drawers (how do they get in such a pickle when there's only me in the house?) and found enough meat etc to last three weeks or so, and much to my tummy's delight a little blackcurrant cheesecake which is pudding for the next couple of days

    5. Added up the rewards of surveys so far this year - which I should do every six months but was impatient - so far £135 in vouchers and £90 cash, which goes toward Christmas pressies :T

    6. The best OS of the day...at risk of being repetitive the daily 1p a minute phone call to my lovely friend in Beijing, which I'll make as soon as I've finished this post :)

    Night night, sweet dreams

Morning all. Here's mine for yesterday:

    1) Working at home again. :) I don't do it often so it always feels like a pleasant novelty, although by mid-afternoon I was desperate for some company so I could whinge about just how boring writing my report was (i.e. very!).

    2) Made some banoffee muesli flapjacks during my lunchbreak - you can't do that if you're in the office! ;) (And never mind that they're the oddest flapjacks I've ever made - they've come out with an almost cakey texture, which I've yet to decide if I like or not.)

    3) Had a nice chat with a lady from my energy company about the fact I'm not receiving their bills until 2 to 3 weeks after they're sent. There's nothing they can do about it, of course, but at least they now know I'm not trying to avoid paying the bills on time - I'm just not getting them for some reason.

    4) The sun came out in the afternoon so I could get my hostas into their new homes.

    5) Spent the evening very lazily reading a book my sister lent me, rather than doing any studying. Naughty, really, but I couldn't bear to look at a computer screen again after spending all day working on my very boring work report (which is also why I didn't post my pleasures yesterday).

Right, I must go and finish off that report. <yawn!> I'll catch up with you all later. :)
Back after a very long break!

Hello all! Can't remember if I've congratulated Carolyntia - if not, well done!

Glad the OS meet went well, Caterina!

    My 5 for yesterday:

    1. My shiny, sexy new netbook arrived! I'll get it set up over the Bank Holiday weekend. It will be perfect to go off travelling with. Just over 4 months now until I go! :D

    2. Enjoying homemade hummus for lunch -every batch turns out very different but this really was yummy. Lovely smooth texture.

    3. Enjoying a chilled out evening at home and grabbing an early night.

    4. Reaching my monthly billing targets at work - sad, I know!

    5. CSI on TV in the evening.

Enjoy the rest of your day, everyone.
Life is not a dress rehearsal.
