arran m treacle scones sound yummy - can we have recipe please?
CCP the flapjacks sound, umm...interesting..I love making up new recipes but like you can never remember what I put in . Glad you decided you liked them though
savingforoz will be out of the link at the weekend, she has her new toy. Congrats on reaching monthly targets, I remember how good that feels
bernies I am soooo green, you are too small for your new trousers . You may have had an up and down day but the trousers are definitely the silver lining
Ladyhawk I love peanut butter, and apricot jam,but never tried them together...might just do so for breakfast. Free Magmums, how lucky!
Caterina congrats on getting the allotment, I don't know where you'll find the time but I do know you'll manage to stretch the day even more and make a huge success of it
Kittikins have a lovely holiday and bring back lots of Devon cream. It could go with arrans treacle scones when she gives us the recipe. A piece of useless info - a golden syrup and clotted cream sandwich in Devon is called thunder n lightning, don't know which is which though
nuttybabe you're off on your hols too? Have a great time wherever you go, and bring back lots of happy tales
newlywed the best things are worth waiting for, it'll happen when you least expect it and when it does this wait will fade to just a memory. Do you slug bait? I use crushed egg shells, slugs won't go on them and they're full of nutrients so do a double job(the neighbours both sides have got all of my slugs lol)
molly another one off on holiday...have a good rest and come back refreshed and raring to go. Good news re the gutter man, hope it gets fixed before you go
zara congrats on finding the book, isn't it a good feeling when something like that happens? Bluebells and birds, sounds perfick
my 5
1, the beautiful sunshine
2. A neighbour has offered to dig out a small area for me to lay a paved path
3. nsd
4. spoke to and sorted out the water and electricity people. My bank a/c will be £90 richer in a few days :T
5. Watching the Chelsea Flower Show.
night night, sleepy tight
S x0 -
Hello Peeps!
Sparrer - I am enjoying all the Chelsea Flower Show progs at the moment too. There was talk of taking a group from school to Gardeners World Live, as the community allotment we help out with are having a stand. Hope they still want to invite us!
Ladyhawk - you just have the best job!
Carolyntia - belated congrats :j
Thursday and Friday were difficult days at school. Any break in routine is difficult for lots of our pupils and it usually ends in disputes and fights.
Thursday
1. Prince of Persia was a jolly romp with gorgeous scenery and gorgeous actors.
2. Very filling tea of reduced Costco meatballs and spaghetti in quick sauce. Mmmmmm
3. Got P60 and noticed I am on emergency tax code. Will contact tax office this week!
4. Nipped into MrS near the Uni on the way back from dropping DD at swimming and got lots of bargains as the students are too busy revising to shop! Will be inviting friends over for lamb chops and advocado prawns all for a quarter of the price! :money:
5. Finished some work for another member of staff. Clear concience!
Friday
1. No early morning swim as DD had 2 exams.
2. Last day of term.
3. Dog walk around the lake.
4. Ordering some wine and the tomato deal (51 packs:eek:), from MrT on line with a £10 off code which got the total down to half the original price. Will be OK for spag bol for a while! :money:
5. Phoned DM to arrange a visit for Sat, but as none of the DGCs could go, (They all refused to go!), we have a repreave until next week. Have now threatened DGC with loss of privilages if they refuse to go next week!! Can start the cleaning instead. Yay!
Have a lovely bank hol weekend. Ollie, Acey, Jexy where are you? Hope you are OK. HE x0 -
Hi Everyone
Savingforoz - could you send me the hummus recipe please? Done - in your PM box
Making a snail and a sheep out of plasticine at work today. I have so much to do but there was a pack of plasticine on my desk which was begging to be used. They both turned out well.
L
This made me smile - sounds like you had much more fun at work that I did!
Caterina, I'd love to come up for a weekend meet, so I'll keep my eye on your thread.
Kittikins, I hope you enjoy your gym session. I know it's not everyone's thing, but I have taken to the gym where all other sorts of exercise haven't stuck, and I go 5-6 times a week and get so much out of it.
Sparrer - well done on sorting the gas and electric, that £90 is better in your pocket than theirs.
My 5 for yesterday:
1. Friday is a short day for us at work (we leave at 4pm) and made even better by knowing it's a bank holiday weekend.
2. Letting a long-standing client know that I will be leaving, and hearing her saying lovely things about me.
3. New season The Mentalist on TV in the evening.
4. Doing more research about what to do about a mobile phone whilst I'm away - the fact that I'm going to so many countries makes things a bit more complicated, but I think I've got it sussed what sort of phone and SIM I need.
5. Receiving notice that the funding for my mum's care home fees has finally been sorted. It's only taken the council just over a year...Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
Afternoon all.
I'll get mine in early today as I'm trapped at home by typical bank holiday weekend weather.:rotfl:
My five:
1) Long lie-in this morning.
2) Treated myself to a very rare cooked breakfast - bacon, scrambled eggs and tomatoes on HM toast (toasted HM bread, that is. As far as I know you can't yet buy ready made toast, although it may only be a matter of time.)
3) The weather meant that I've got lots of studying done, and good thing too as I was getting a bit behind.
4) Listening to my cat doing train impressions - "m'yow-miaow!". OK, it doesn't come across in print, but it was very funny!
5) Eurovision song contest tonight. And I refuse to be embarrassed by my fondness for the whole ridiculous spectacle.Well, maybe a bit embarrassed!
Hope you've all had a decent day, despite the rain (or even without the rain if it's just the south coast getting drenched).Back after a very long break!0 -
Hi guys
Here's my five pleasures for the day:
1) Helping some friends move house. It took the place of a workout and was a good catch-up session.
2) Making a marinade for some chicken drumsticks so it'll be a nice crispy baked chicken dish tomorrow night.
3) There's a low-fat fruitcake in the oven, baking away.
4) Seeing a squirrel. Always makes me smile.
5) Shopping around Mr S for a change.
Have a nice evening, everyone
Kitchenbunny xx

Evening
Mine for yesterday and today
Friday
1. As had just missed the bus decided to walk to work for a change as the weather was nice. I got to work at the same time as the next bus so quite pleased with myself
2. Went off site to our secure data storage area and had a productive morning sorting out our backup tapes for storage.
3. Lovely baguette for lunch from my favourite cafe
4. Evening out wit OH to a concert at Hammersmith (Joe Bonnamassa), OH taste in music but I still enjoyed it. Most people haven't heard of him but is a very good musician if you like rock/blues type music. Was a bit worrying though as the place was full of aging rockers. You know you are getting old when the stage lights reflect off all the bald heads and they reduce the number of people they let in to allow for the middle age spread:rotfl:.
5. Managing to catch a train straight away when we came out of hammersmith and getting a seat.
Today
1. Lovely lie in, have really struggled to get out of bed on a morning this week so was really needed
2. All of us having a good session in tidying the garden today
3. Watching a robin trying to eat a worm that was nearly as big as it was
4. Sausage sandwiches for brunch
5. About to have a curry and watch the new sherlock holmes film.
Have a great holiday to all of you going away. Hugs to all who need them0 -
My first time to this thread......Am loving reading all these.
1) Taking my DD (she's 1) to her swimming lesson, her smiling all the way through it and loving every second. For the past month she's cried a lot at the bits where she goes underwater, so she hasn't done it, but today she loved it and voluntarily 'jumped' in and came up smiling
2) Waking up assuming it was around 7am but it was actually 8.45 and DD had slept until then and so had I!
3) Deliciously simply prawn and taglatelle dinner
4) Glass of wine this evening
5) Found out our charity newletter had gone to the printers today, I'm so excited to see it in official print.0 -
Good Evening OSer's
,
A quick 5 for today:
- Guttering repair man came, gave a reasonable quote and will be here on tuesday to fix problem, as he is very local he can fit us in between other jobs :T
- A little freebie of a body spray through the post (It may have been a competition win, though not sure)
- Family cuddles and reading with DD this afternoon.
- A simple tea of rustic bread and pate, but I may have some supper later when watching UK entry getting nil point later in Eurovision!
- Hay festival on Sky Arts :j. Hay-on-Wye is one of our favourite places as we are avid readers, although we have never been to the festival, I would love to go in the future.Value of prizes 2010 - 2017: £8374 Wins 2022: Magic set
