    my 5

    1. Good drive to Henley and back, it's not possible to practice fuel economy on Mways but thanks to the volume of traffic slowing everyone down I got away with using less than 3/4 tank today. Filled up while I was there as petrol is 4p cheaper than my local filling stations :D
2..DB and DSiL took us all out for lunch but wouldn't accept any pennies from me even though it's my DM too, whose birthday we were celebrating:A
    3. DB gave me some 'lime stuff' to mix into my tub of soil to give my peony tree a good start. :D
    4. Had a beautiful carvery lunch and didn't need to eat again today
    5. My pension is in the bank, I've had a pay rise of £7 a month - less tax of course:eek:

    Night night sweet dreams
from a very weary Sparrer x

Here are my five for yesterday. :)

    1. Having a look around a car show. It was expensive to get in though :s
    2. A nice lay in in the morning.
    3. Trying a new recipe. Ok, so it didn't work and I won't be repeating it, but it was nice to try.
    4. Finding a dark chocolate I like and using it as a "treat"
    5. Doing all the ironing! That means I can relax today :)

That's the first time I've woken up at 9am for a while. I hope I don't manage to do that again tomorrow when I'm supposed to be at work! I'm planning a baking day so my oven is completely full for Wednesday, so I'm planning a list of what I can make and what will fit, etc. So far, I'm going to use the block of puff pastry in my freezer to make some chorizo empanadillas (little chorizo pasties), some thyme crescents (herby croissants), and some biscuits - possibly Twink's. That'll fill a couple of shelves, but I need something that looks low and slow to go in the bottom of the oven. Back to the research!

Hope everyone has a lovely day :)

    Kitchenbunny xx

A big welcome to newbies :hello:

    Here are yesterdays pleasures:

    - Finding a swimming costume from last holiday that may fit me, so no need to buy new one. Also found my sarong that matches it too.
    - Roast pork Loin (1/2 price from Mr T's) with HM stuffing, Roast potatoes, Peas, Carrots, apple sauce and gravy for lunch.
    - Making a peach upside down cake with tin of basics peach slices.
    - Getting washing done and dried outside.
    - Realising how little we are spending on groceries at the mo, by shopping for most fresh produce locally. When we get back from holidays I will start the grocery challenge again.

Mollythewestie, please how did you cook the shoulder of pork? Did it need any treatment apart from shoving in the oven? (Not cooked it before but the Tesco offer looks tempting) Thanks.

    Afternoon all

Sorry I haven't been around but the 10 year ex has been here for the weekend :D. I'm very glad he visited....he helped calm me down after the enormity of everything hit me.....had a few panic attacks about the new job and the move

    So my most recent ones:

    1) 10 year ex visiting - it was lovely to catch up :D
    2) Going to the pub to visit my uncle and catching up with everyone there
    3) Not as much rain as I thought we were going to get
    4) Everything packed and ready to go tomorrow morning
    5) Looking forward to a nice relaxing bath and a glass of wine later
    6) Mum sold a load of my stuff at the street sale today
    7) Taking a load of stuff to the tip....garage is looking a bit emptier :)
    8) Checking the satnav works ok and everything is fine

I actually feel a bit calmer now....still very apprehensive though. Just want to get it over and done with.

Hope you're all ok and had a good weekend.

    C x

We had pork loin, not shoulder. Pork loin is very much a just stick it in the oven type meat.
However with shoulder, I find long and slow is the way to go! We have used this Simon Rimmer recipe lots:
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/pulledporkwithsausag_88807
It just falls apart after cooking and is a good value recipe too, as the leftovers can be used in other things (meat shredded and mixed into pasta sauce etc).

    Afternoon all.

Well, I survived my night out in Portsmouth last night, despite a huge fight breaking out less than a foot from where we were sitting. Sadly, that sort of thing is pretty common in Portsmouth these days. :(

    Anyway, my five for today:

    1) Got home very late last night, so had a good long lie-in this morning.

    2) Treated myself to fish and chips at a pub down by the harbour - it wasn't very OS or MSE, but it was very tasty, and I won't need any dinner now.

    3) The pub was packed so I ended up sharing a table with a very nice family - they were quite apologetic when another table became free and they went off to sit by themselves. :)

    4) I was very good and only bought myself one pair of earrings from the jewellery / craft stalls I found after lunch - the couple running one of the stalls were so lovely I couldn't bring myself to not buy anything from them.

    5) Out again tonight, for the pub quiz. Despite the lie-in I'm still feeling very dozy so I don't think it will be another late night - and I'll be keeping a keen eye out for more flying furniture!;)

    Have a nice evening, all.

Carolyntia - good luck to you - I'm not at all surprised you're panicking, but I'm sure it will all be fine when you get going.

Ladyhawk - hugs to you - I hope you're feeling happier today.
Back after a very long break!

    hi all,

Carolyntia - they already told you that you'd be just perfect for the job - so it'll all be fine. Just get through the first day and then you'll wonder what you worried about ;)

    Mine today:

    1. A lay in
    2. OH treated me to a cooked brekkie at the local cafe
    3. Meeting up with friends at the park for a picnic lunch
    4. Brief spells of sunshine
    5. The rain held off
    6. My rose is flowering and very pretty yellow
    7. Repotted some of my plants yesterday and most seem happy
    8. Pepper plants are growing
    9. OH has some more work in the pipeline, so the money is still coming in, thankfully.
    10. I feel happier and more positive today - let's hope that lasts :o

    Mine for today:

    1. Watching DD ad DS and their friend (aged 9, 10 and 11) play in the garden and summer house for hours today- apparently they were playing mummy and baby foxes, obvious really! The chickens certainly gave them some funny looks as the kids crawled around the garden making yelpy noises!
    2. Making the kids boiled eggs and soldiers for breakfast using three HUGE eggs from our best layer (the one who was poorly the other day)
    3. Having a NS day...my first for too long to own up to on here!
    4. Gorgeous carbonara with left-over gammon from yesterday for tea
    5. A long soak in the bath with some of my Christmas Elemis Milk bath- lurvely!!!
