Evening all. My 5 for today:

    1. Deleting lots of old files from my PC, after backing them up. Will make transferring all the data quicker and easier at the weekend when I put everything onto my new netbook. Geeky, I know, but I'm a technophile!

    2. Gorgeous sunny day in Bristol, and enjoying the fabulous view of the Avon Gorge/Suspension Bridge as I drove home.

    3. Hearing from a client that their book-keeper is always very complimentary about me.

    4. Hearing that my work colleague had had her offer on her very first house accepted (and laughing at her description of the truly terrible decor that she will have to put up with for a while. Lime green walls, anyone?)

    5. More gadgets arriving for my netbook, including a tiny wifi finder. OK, not very moneysaving, but it's all within budget, and certainly a pleasure!
Life is not a dress rehearsal.

I like the idea of using black eyed beans in chilli savingfooz, it's always worth trying something different as very often it works :D. Congrats on the gadgets, I'm only going to Morecambe for a week and haven't got a clue what I need to go on line there, or how the things work!
Reverbe a slight variation on Darling partner or mother, I always think of the D as 'Dear'. :D
Shadowsfall good for you getting the project out of the way, what a nice feeling.
Kitchenbunny how brave you and Shadowsfall are. I tried an epilator once and took it back to the shop complaining that they'd sold me an instrument of torture :(. The saleslady gave me my money back and said they get a lot of returns...thank goodness the shop had such a generous returns policy!
Ginger Snap congrats to your DH on getting the contracts, a lovely feeling for you both.
newlywed the banana pecan cake looks delicious. I'm no great shakes as a cake cook but I've got some very ripe bananas so I'm going to have a go at it tomorrow
Laurel I hope you feel better after your day in hospital. It's lovely to know the family is there to support you
Tealady what a nice surprise for your DD. Re the red glow, in true OS fashion I always use plain yogurt which is so soothing after a bout of too much sun. Hope it doesn't keep you awake tonight

    My 5
    1. I think I must be unwell :p, I was up at 6.30am, had the washing on the line by 7, did some painting, had a shower and had the lawn mowed by 10 o'clock! I haven't been up at that time, nor been so energetic since long before I gave up drinking and smoking :D . I'll probably sleep all day tomorrow but it was a such a good day I don't mind..
    2. Postie brought me some money off coupons for tea, my favourite drink, and vouchers for extra Nectar points :D
    3. Used three of the four tubs a kind freecycler gave me to repot some shrubs which were bursting out of their original ones. I now have a much happier yellow buddleia, fuschia and salix.
    4. Going to a newly discovered £1 shop not too far away, I haven't been to one for years, and only spending £1 as I thought most of it was a bit tacky. Unfortunately there was a shoe shop two doors along :o but, as my youngest DGD says, 'a girl can't have too many pairs of shoes can she, Grandma?' Sensible girl :rotfl:
    5. Going to (try to) stay away until midnight so I can phone the hospital, they're 7 hours ahead of us, using the 1p a minute number to see how my very dear friend is. Luckily the staff is mostly English speaking as my Mandarin really isn't very good. Shame on me, but I'm English and we do like to think everyone should understand us, don't we?:o

    Night night, sleepy tight

    Evening,

Molly - Very envious! No Carluccios in Birmingham :( we have to go to Bicester.

Shaddowsfall - Can I have some of your energy please? This week has been like wading through treacle!

Having a bit of an Eyore moment, so now is definitely the time to look on the bright side........

    Yesterday

    1. Took DS2 to see Streetdance 3D (High School Musical for British people ;)) We both enjoyed it.
    2. Another pack of 1/2 price loo rolls with an extra 50p off.
    3. Finding a designer shirt in Oxfam for OH when I took my 'dorky' shoes back. Also, a Tshirt for DS1 and trousers for DS2.
    4. Walk around the lake with OH, DS2 and dog.Really pleasant, but.......... Flat tyre when we got back to the car. :(
    5. Weetabix cake and HM dog biscuits. Thats me and the dog sorted for snacks!
    6. Finding out that a friends family who all live in Workington, Cumbria are all safe after yesterdays shootings. His mum and sister were in the safest place as they work at the nuclear power station, which was locked down for the afternoon. Never thought I would say that about a nuclear power station!

    Today

    1. Yet another 1/2 price pack of loo rolls and extra 50p off!
    2. Collected some bedside drawers from a lovely Freecycler. Finishes DD's newly decorated bedroom off perfectly. :)
    3. Listed some items on Ebay.
    4. Tax owe me a refund :j(Can pay off another credit card).
    5. Sausage and mash with onion gravy for tea. :)

Sparrer - hope you get through to your friend OK. Hope he's more comfortable in hospital. I have heard Manderin can be quite subtle in pronounciation. My Uncle was very proud of his few phrases learned on a merchant ship with a Chinese crew. Unfortunately when he tried to say goodnight in his local Chinese takeaway, it turned out it was something completely different :rotfl:Shamed!

    Night Night HE x

laurel7172 Hope you have a comfortable few days with the goodies in the freezer :)
sparrer wow, I never thought of that. I suppose they do get returns on epilators come to think of it! It's good once you get used to it and the new ones are more gentle. Oh and
WELL DONE on the no-smoker status!
house elf sure - here's some winging it's way to you now! Ping! :D

Hope everyone is enjoying their Friday! Weee!

    1. It's the weekend and it's sunshiney.
    2. My cousin reminded me via his F@cebook status not to take material things too seriously:
"Pixies of 'drunk midnight capers' have run off with mobile to use it az a cosmic jetski" :rotfl:
    3. PYNF - pretty.
    4. Spending the day with wee nanny and OH tomorrow as he's doing carpentry things for her.
    5. Went and read down by the river when I got in. It was so warm I was only wearing a bikini. Very relaxing and pretty.

Hope you all have a lovely day :hello:

I'm posting mine for today early as I don't intend to go online tonight or tomorrow morning.

    1. Finishing a job at work that's been hanging around for a while and I'd been procrastinating like crazy about it. Banged it out today and it wasn't anything like as bad as I'd thought it would be. Such a relief to get it done.

    2. Anticipating new season The Mentalist tonight on TV.

    3. Early finish for me on a Friday - I'll be leaving in 1/2 hr.

    4. Anticipating yummy savoury rice for tea.

    5. Doing my menu plan for next week and I reckon I'll only need to spend about £2.50 on groceries when I go to Sainburys tonight after work. Bargainaceous!

    Hi all

First of all I want to say goodbye for a few days to all of you, I am off to the Isle of Wight tomorrow for a week and then a few days in Cardiff with DH (who needs to go there for his martial arts stuff so I am accompanying) so you might not see me for a little while.

Behave while I am away, don't do anything I wouldn't (this leaves you PLENTY of scope for mischief, do not fear hehehe)

Then, here are my pleasures for the last couple of days, in random order:

    1 - Weather

2 - Friend around for lunch and drove me to Council offices to get allotment key

3 - Visit to allotment, first crop (was already there) rhubarb and beet leaves for dinner tonight

    4 - 2 washes done

5 - DH's last day at old job today, I am so glad for him and so proud of him

6 - Anticipation of two whole weeks with him until he starts his next job

Love to all, see you in a couple of weeks xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
