:eek::eek: What's happened to the forum?! I go away for one day and they change everything - I really wondered if I was on the right forum for a minute! :o

I didn't post yesterday as I spent a long and very warm day at a partner's site in the depths of the Hampshire countryside, and by the time I got home I just wanted an ice cold beer, food, and bed. ;)

    My pleasures for yesterday:
    1) We took the scenic route to the partner's site, and very scenic it was too. I wasn't driving so I could just sit back and admire all the greenery.
    2) The site is home to more swallows than I have seen in my entire life - every step was accompanied by the swoosh of swallows flying past your ears. :)
    3) Befriending a small tortoishell cat who lives at the partner's site, and who decided it would be fun to accompany us on our tour of the site. There's something pleasantly surreal about watching a small cat trotting along as part of a tour group! :rotfl:
    4) Very unOS, but... I treated myself to takeaway pizza when I got home. :o I had a voucher code for 25% off which is why I went for pizza, but it didn't work - unfortunately by that time I had set my heart on pizza and went ahead and ordered anyway. :o
    5) Cold beer to go with it - just what I wanted after over an hour in traffic on the motorway to get home.
    6) Hearing from my mum that my grandmother seems to be recovering after a fall at the end of last week. We were all a bit worried as she seemed to be rather confused - she's usually sharp as a tack despite her illness - but she's picking up again now.

    Today's pleasures:
    1) Working from home to write a report on yesterday's visit, which meant a bit of a lie-in and time for a shower before switching on the computer.
    2) I haven't finished the report, so I'll get to do it again on Thursday (not tomorrow as I really better show my colleagues I still exist :p).
    3) LO pizza from last night with salad for lunch. Yum.
    4) Received the hostas I ordered a couple of weeks ago, which include a replacement for my favourite, rare variety hosta, and it's just as pretty as I remember my old one being.
    5) Something with bacon for dinner. I need to either eat it or freeze it and, as I'm trying to empty out the freezer, there's really only one choice. ;) All I've got to do is decide what exactly I'm going to do with it.

Carolyntia - good luck with your interview.

berniesmaster - that's horrible news about your kitchen. :( I hope it's fixable fairly quickly, or at least without too much hassle for you.

newlywed - hope you get that job, or another one even better, very soon. My fingers are pretty much permanently crossed for you at the moment.

Back after a very long break!

    Evening all,

Am feeling a little weary as I was up early this morning to get down to London for a training course that I was helping deliver. It all went well... well the feedback seemed to be good.

    1) Spending the day not having to deal with the usual day to day stress of work

    2) My train home was delayed by about 45 minutes so had ample time to get on with my book "Decoding the Heavens" which is about the worlds first calculator/ computer thing. It was written by a friend of mine and it has taken me 2 years to get round to reading it... I am a bad friend!

    3) Chatted to my friend L on my way home - she is off to Dubai on hols tomorrow - lucky thing. I suppose when you sell your soul for money (ie working in a job she hates because it pays exceptionally well) you can afford to do such things.

    4) Recieved a post card from L from her last holiday in Mauritius... posted 17 May

    5) Posted off another book that I have sold on amazon

    6) NSD

Hope you have a great evening.

    L

    Hi

We had the same problem. when we got our new kitchen, they pulled out the kitchen and found a huge hole under where the fridge freezer was and had to have the joists done and they also found damp so had to have all that done at the same time which put the kitchen on hold! And with 3 young kids (the oldest being 3 at the time and youngest not even a year!!) it was hard work but we got through it!

I hope you get it all sorted soon.

It's a very sticky and muggy evening here in Bristol, after a glorious day!

    My 5 for today:

    1. Coming across some useful free software which can monitor how much time you spend online - I can waste quite a bit of time online, so I'm hoping this will cure me of my bad ways!

    2. Going to see my client who has offices in the middle of a forest - the drive there is superb.

    3. Taking advantage of the gym's new opening hours to fit in an hour's workout before work, and seeing my gym buddies.

    4. Having lots of laughs with my boss - things were strained for many months after we had the disagreement that led to me deciding to leave, and now they're back to normal.

    5. Getting an email with some pics of my last foster babies, Penny and Gizmo, and hearing that they're doing OK.
Life is not a dress rehearsal.

    Evening all :hello:

Thanks very much for all your good luck for tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed. With any luck I'll be house hunting in Aberdeen very soon. Hey Jexygirl how far away from there are you?

    1) Getting all the details for my trip this morning (all expenses paid :D)
    2) Another slow day at work
    3) Watching the swallows flying around my back garden
    4) Chatting with my friend in Inverness - they would love it if I moved to Scotland
    5) Lovely chilled out evening

Hope you all had a great day. I'll report back on the interview tomorrow. It'll be a long day as I've got to get up at 4.30 am . Luckily I've got Thursday and Friday off.....the first two days I've taken off this year.

oh - I forgot a 7th pleasure... I did a press interview today! And I didn't even say anything controversial (I hope!) and the journalist was really nice - so fingers crossed that she hasn't managed to read something into anything innocuous that I said.
