Finally feel better! (I should be as thin as a pin!:D).
Ladyhawk: I wish it was The Housemartins.
Lysasparkles: I'm not keen on fruit either. I have to eat my apple driving home from work, so I don't notice I'm eating an apple IYKWIM:o
Sparrer: Glad to hear you a getting some furniture for the Beach hut. I will have somewhere to unpack!
Yesterday
1. All my yr11 back from work experience.
2. Fun lesson with one yr11 class involving balloons and computers, and nothing got broken:j
3. Enviromental group decorated all the pots of seed ready for car boot on saturday. They look quite sweet. Just wish we had a bit longer for the seed to actually sprout!
4. Lots of YS in MrM. Though a bit surprised at the bill. Overdid the bargains!:(
5. Watching DS2 driving his hamster in RC truck. Reminded me of Tales from the Riverbank. Strangely enough the hamster likes it!:rotfl:
Have a lovely day. HE x0 -
My 5 for yesterday:
1. Finding out my gym will open at 6.30am on a trial basis, 3 days a week. Normally it's 7am and that's means I can only do a quick 1/2 hour of cardio before having to dash off to work. Now I'll be able to do 40 minutes of cardio and 20 with the weights. Much better.
2. Getting a hug from one of my gym buddies.
3. Finding out that the prospective tenant that I have lined up for my house when I rent it out is still interested.
4. Driving to my favourite client. The premises are in the middle of a forest and the drive there is really picturesque, especially on a bright sunny day.
5. Making a batch of soya yoghurt.
6. Finishing my short story and publishing it on the Web.
7. Being organised and preparing a spicy bean and vegetable casserole for the slow cooker.
Ok, that's 7!Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
savingforoz - any chance of giving us the link to your story?
Hi to everyone - haven't been here lately as life has been a bit dispiriting - tired out and weary with giving 24/7 care.
Never mind all that - had a GREAT day today!
1. The Crossroads carer came from 9 to 3, so I had 6hrs off!
2. Drove up to Stroud and met up with DD3 and DGD3 - lovely to see them and be able to spend time with them.
3. Stroud International Textiles Festival is on, and went to two excellent exhibitions. Was really inspired!
4. Even shop windows round the town have special displays set up by textiles students - it was fun looking out for those.
5. Had a nice lunch - veg soup (v. tasty, think it had butternut squash in it) with lovely multiseed bread. Sat out on the cafe's little patio in the sun to eat it, and while waiting looked at today's papers from their rack.
6. Have come home fired up to get my fabrics and threads out - ideas are swirling round in my brain! And, DH goes to his day centre tomorrow, so I should be able to get something started.Keeping two cats and myself on a small budget, and enjoying life while we're at it!0 -
A really grotty day Lungs wises, spent the day wrapped up on recliner with aching arms lots of drinks and coughing up gunk thank heavens for nebulisers & inhailers. I'll try and find some pleasures for today it does me good to find little positives.
1. logging in to this tread and finding someone else close to where I live. HI Winchelsea
2. managed a bit of ironing before collapsing in tears - hubby then finished the ironing off. (love him to bits)
3. After throwing a massive wobble DS finaly agreed to stand with me while i bought the bits off ebay to to repaire the notebook he fiddled with and cocked up (would have been more impressed if he had paid for the case & usb dvd reader). but that's another story.
4. DD finaly decided to go on the course offered by Job Center
5. Blood sugars coming down to a reasonable level so a sweet milky ovaltine for tea tonight (along with insulin)- real comfort food. The ovaltine that is not insulinIt matters not if you try and fail, and fail and try again; But it matters much if you try and fail, and fail to try again.

wogglemaker - I'm sorry you've been feeling so lousy today. I hope you feel much better soon.
Winchelsea - sounds like you had a wonderfully inspiring day. I really admire you arty / crafty people who can look at a bit a fabric and see all the things you can do with it.
jex - another great chicken story. :rotfl: I love reading about your girls - strange when I don't like chickens much usually. How did your ice cream experiment turn out?
berniesmaster - glad to hear you're a bit better, and I hope you enjoyed your wine.
My five for today:
1) It's been lovely and sunny all day. I couldn't do much about it as I was at work, but at least it looked nice outside the office window.
2) Very quiet day at work, so I had time to do some of my OU course. Naughty, I know, but...
3) it means I don't have much studying to do this evening so I can watch the DVD of the musical I'm going to with my sister on Friday (my sister's seen it at least half a dozen times and can quote most of it from memory, so I've got some brushing up to do!)
4) One of my favourite dinners tonight - refried bean burritos. It won't be quite as tasty as usual as I'm trying to be healthy and haven't used my usual inch of cheese on top (OK, a slight exaggeration!), but it will still be good.
5) I finally gave in to the inevtiable and booked an appointment with my GP tomorrow to see about the stomach pains I've been having. Murphy's Law being what it is, that should mean I'll wake up tomorrow morning feeling fine.
Have a nice evening, everyone.Back after a very long break!0 -
Hiya
Mine for today
1 Leaving for school run on time
2 cinnamon swirl for breakfast
3 made bread rolls
4 did some of flyladys jobs and sorted through all the paperwork lying around and in the sideboard.
5 easy tea. just chucked a tin of toms with some veg from the freezer in a pan and added cooked pasta and topped with cheese! yummy!
have a good evening everyone.0 -
Evening all,
Winchelsea - I have utmost respect for you being a carer full time for you DH. What an act of selflessness. Utterly commendable.
Just got back from the office... but it's been a good, if not loooong day. It has left me rather weary.
1) Having lunch outside in the sun - not too hot and not too cold... it was juuuuust right.
2) NSD... and that was after wandering around town with a boss's PA and seeing all sorts on nice stuff in M&S
3) Wearing my summer skirt for the first time this year.
4) We got a goodie bag sent in from a supplier today that caused much hilarity are it contained the most random things... toilet roll, water, juice, mixed nuts, hand soap and condoms! And not just any condoms... multi sensation ones at that! Cue lots of juvenile innuendo.
5) Some yummy fresh asparagus for supper... not sure what to do with it as I have had rather a lot of it recently just boiled/ steamed with butter...
Have a lovely, restful evening everyone.
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Evening,
Not feeling too good tonight had an upset stomach and a headache most of the day.
Anyway mine for today:
1. Everyone over slept this morning but still managed to get to work/school on time
2. Washing dried on the line
3. Wedding photo album that I had ordered for my step-nephew arriving and they were really pleased with them
4. Chinese takeaway for dinner as really didn't feel like cooking
Hugs to all who need them0 -
lol house elf, I decided against carpet so it'll have stripped wood flooring
. If we'd played with balloons at school we'd have got a detention and comps weren't even heard of...I'll bet you have as much fun as the students
savingforoz at risk of repeating myself I do envy you having the strength to go to the gym. I have zero willpower then wonder why I'm as wide as I am high (not difficult though at just under 5 feet)
Winchelsea sounds like you had a good respite from caring today, and more to come tomorrow..well deserved, I used to work with dementia patients and like Ladyhawk I admire you very much for doing what you do.
wogglemaker I hope you soon get back on the course. I finished it a while ago and am now on my 2nd 12-week exercise programme. It's making a very noticeable difference even if it isn't as energetic as the sort savingforoz does
I had to smile when I read your no 4 CCP, I'm trying to eat healthily too but I got in late from a meeting and fully intended to make a salad but forgot to take the prawns out of the freezer. So I had a sausage sandwich and will have the salad tomorrow . Hope you find that your tummy prob is something which can be cleared up quickly
Yum nuttybabe, cinnamon swirls for breakfast! The tea sounds good too, anything tomato-y, pasta-y and cheesy has got to be yummy
Lol at the goodie bag Ladyhawk, can just imagine the hilarity it caused. Congrats on your control when you were looking at the shops, that took strength!
Hope you feel better soon Tealady, a Chinese can cure most ills I find.
My 5
1. Exfoliated and dehaired before applying instant tan all over, then stood like a stick person for ten minutes while it dried. Not a pretty sight . But 12 hours later it didn't look too bad if I do say so meself
2. Had breakfast in the garden, watching the mogs and dog sunbathing. The dog was too lazy to go indoors for a drink so he drank out of the watering can which wasn't quite full, so it was quite funny watching him stretch his tongue down to reach the water
3. Rescued some baby wipes that had been drying out been in the car for weeks, by pouring some water into the tub. They're useful for wiping sticky steering wheels, dusting the dash board, removing caps to put air in the tyres etc...when I remember to use them!
4. Remembered I'd stored some tins and packets in one of the under bed drawers at the beginning of the recession. Did an inventory and I'll have lots of beans, hotdogs, meatballs etc for the children to enjoy on our holiday
5. Postie brought me quite a haul today, two wee samples of anti wrinkle cream, 10 decaff teabags with a m/o voucher for more, and a revised breakdown cover as they'd only given me roadside when I'd paid for relay. To compensate they've knocked off the price of roadside so I got relay for £29 less than it should be :T
Night night, sweet dreams
