I've had an odd day - I can hardly walk with a strained groin muscle (!), and this made me miserable - so I thought I'd list the good things that have happened, stop moaning and cheer myself up!
1. Had the house to myself (son and his gf away for the night)
2. Went to the local carboot sale and got quite a lot of plants which I've never grown before - and all reasonable prices
3. Watched the robin in the garden chase off another one, and then feed its baby which was hiding in the fruit trees outside my kitchen window - aaaahhhh
4. Got a text from my dear friend
5. Downloaded my lo-ong travel blog and started editing it for publishing
6. I've still got the evening to go - it's quiet, birds singing, hens in bed (theirs), and I'm contemplating the bookings I've had for the fledgling B&B, had too much supper, chilling with the telly.
So - despite hobbling, overall the day was up. Evening, all!

Evening all,
nuttybabe - just had a gander at your website, your sock monkeys are fab!
I have just remembered I have to attend a medical tomorrow, so will post my pleasures now as I won't have time in the morning.
Todays pleasures:
- Dog groomed and bathed, we do it ourselves as professional groomers cost too much! She looks like a show pooch now (that was until she went into the garden and rolled around in the dirt :rotfl:)
- We didn't fancy the traditional sunday lunch today, so I roasted a gammon joint from the freezer, which we had with salad and fresh bread instead. It made a nice change and we will get another meal out of the leftovers too.
- Eventhough the weather has been rubbish, the sun came out about 6pm and I sat outside for a bit, it was very peaceful.
- Saw lots of birds gathering food and nesting bits, at one point there were 5 different birds in our little garden.
- We were going to treat ourselves to a takeaway curry for tea, but decided not too as we are still full from lunch! So I will have a small supper later. I think cheese, onion marmalade and crackers will be just the ticket.Value of prizes 2010 - 2017: £8374 Wins 2022: Magic set

Evening all,
Hope you are enjoying the last hours of the weekend.
1) I've done loads of gardening today - cleared a big patch of weeds and cut back a number of bushes to give me room to plant my veggies. Now I am just waiting for the rain since they were all looking a little thirsty. I don't think that the rain that was promised and threated all day will materialise
2) Made some fruit scones and then some banana bread - yum!
3) Lovely hot bath this evening so I don't have to shower in the morning. I have to be in the office at 7am so really don't want to faff when I get up.
4) Young Guns 2 on TV tonight... takes me back to being a giggly 13 year old and having a serious crush on Emilio Estevez...:o
5) NSD - I am going to try for another NSW this week, though I am not too sure how I'll get on.
6) Found a penny while planting my seedlings.
Have a great week.
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Evening all! Hope everyone is OK.
My 5 for today:
1. Making a yummy batch of homemade hummus, which will do for my lunches for a few days, along with pitta bread.
2. Taking my faulty set-top box back and getting a replacement. I got the distinct impression that the customer services guy was looking at me in that certain way, if you get my drift...:D.
3. Doing a Reverbe and finding a penny when I stopped to put air in my tyres. OK, only a penny, but better in my purse than on the ground. Reverbe, where are you? Hope you are OK.
4. More of my yummy spicy carrot and lentil soup for lunch with a homemade herby roll, with homemade chilli for tea. Yum!
5. Finding some good free open source software that I can use when I get my new netbook. I am trying to persuade myself that as a good MSE moneysaver, I can use open source software which will do what I want every bit as well as Microsoft Office 2010. But a little voice in my head keeps saying "but I want Microsoft..." Grrr! So far I've not managed to sort the little voice out....Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
My five for Sunday
1. Went to the garden centre and bought enough surfinias and pelargoniums to restock the hanging baskets, plus a huge pot of lilies and some odds and ends. Unfortunately it came to a little more than the £25 voucher I had...:o
2. Had half of my bunch of asparagus for lunch with some whoopsied salmon and mange tout, it was deeeelicious
3. Planted up the baskets this afternoon with yellow and lime surfinias and white pelargoniums.
4. Neighbour came in for a cuppa and we put the world to rights
5. Had a brief but good phone call with my lovely friend who is quite weary today but still managed to laugh a little
Night night, sweet dreams

Hello!
My five for yesterday -
1) Went to pick a double bed for the spare room that we got off ebay - they guy had dismantled it and let me have it for £25 instead of £27.
2) Went home and spent the morning sorting out the upstairs - stilllots to do but it's starting to look much better...think leave in 2 weeks may be taken up with decorating!
3) Lovely walk in local woods, the longest pup has had so far, and he was really good.
4) Delicious tea (from meal planner) of pork chops with apple, mash, broc and peas...mmmmm
5) Watching Ross Kemp return to Afghan DVD with OH under a rug with tub of Mr T rocky road ice cream....
And 6) Whilst we were watching that, I had an apple cake in the oven, with a tweaked recipe from a free recipe book and it came out looking gorgeous! Taste test later this morning!!Clearing debt to save for a simple wedding.Starting 2016 With debt of £77000 -
 Helloooo everyone in Pleasure Thread land
Sorry to hear some are glum or not well - I am currently doing a cold which is ever so fun. Glad to hear that posting continues in spite of sickies and gloomies. Well done everybody!
Shall jump straight in...
1. Getting a mention in a couple of posts - really lovely and I always appreciate it when someone takes the time to reference something I said or say helloSo thanks!!
2. My iPod just popped on one of my fave tunes - Del Amitri 'Last To Know'. Wee!
3. I got my sewing machine back after a fix up yesterday and I made 80% of a new bag... have to finish a couple of bits. I bought a skirt from a charity shop with the idea to make it into something. I just had a play about and did it all by eye and I'm impressed with myself! I'm looking forward to being able to make clothes and things for the house as I progress.
4. OH telling me over the phone that he was hoping to rescue me a husky pup as a suprise but couldn't afford it. Silly lovely man! I told him he can rescue me one when we have our own place. He's an Aries and rather spontaneous! I adore huskys so I'll look forward to having one in the future.
5. I have a new bed finally. I couldn't fit my old lovely bed in my new little room so I've been sleeping on an air mattress - hideous!!! Finally found one of the many beds stored away actually fits my room. It's amazing compared!
6. A funny one :rotfl:OH and I picked up my parents from a party they were at. There was singing, requests for kebabs and lots of giggling from the both of them. We laughed all the way home! Then DF decided to get DM out of bed by pretending he'd been locked outside. When she finally got up and opened the door she saw him hanging out the bathroom window waving at herIt was very silly! Nice to see that at 55 you are still allowed to be very very daft!
7. Prior to the drunk parental incident, OH and I were chasing each other with washing pegs and laughing A LOT about nothing in particularIt was really fun and I love it when mad moments occur from nowhere!
8. I've been re-reading Eclipse (part 3 of the Twilight saga) :heart2: oooh! I love it so. It's bliss to escape into a book!
9. Saturday afternoon before the sun set, OH and I went down to the river at the bottom of my garden and sat in a tree together over the water. It smelt lovely and the sun through the leaves was so pretty. Even the swarms of midges were hypnotic! He did pretend to push me in the water though - boys!
10. Walked through the garden afternoon time and noticed how pretty all the blossom was and that the birdies were singing pretty songs. Our 'garden' is just cleared shrub and rubble as we are about to build a house so thinking it's pretty is a funny thing!
Took a while and I got to 10! Woo. Thank you for reading, have a lovely day all. Be back later to have a gander0 -
Hi all
I did not go online yesterday (YAY! a NCD!) so here are my pleasures for yesterday and I shall come back later or tomorrow for today's ones.
Sunday:
1 - Long lie in
2 - Breakfast in bed courtesy of ME! Again! It is getting a bit too frequent, DH is going to lose the habit, gotta do something about it next weekend, surely!
3 - Managed to get 4 pots of marmalade out of the oranges that I had bought for the family while I was away and that were languishing sadly in the fruit bowl. Although not as fancy as seville marmalade, it is still a good and perfectly acceptable alternative for a nice breakfast. All family members liked it, anwyay!
4 - Started reading one of the books that I picked out of a skip a few weeks ago, lots of Rebus thrillers, this one I am reading is the Early Years (a collection of the first three books, so far I have finished Knots and Crosses, horrifying but a great read).
5 - More stretching of the M&S 2 for £10, after using the salad for lunch on Saturday (the berries - pudding - and the 2 lt orange juice - drink- from the offer are still in the fridge waiting to be put to good use), I made diner for 3 (!) using the cod fillet, a very tasty mediterranean cod, tomato and potato stew and flavoured it with marjoram from my garden. We loved it!
Have a good day everybody and see you all later xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
