Here goes for my five.
1. Lovely sunny day which makes you feel better.
2. Realising how lucky I am to live in such beautiful countryside.
3. NSD
4. Planting out more of my seedlings from from free seed packets. Very rewarding.
5. Coffee in garden reading a magazine which a friend had given me.0 -
Morning all! Hope everyone has a good Sunday. My 5 (OK, 10) for yesterday:
1. Delicious curry out at my local curry house with a fellow MSE-er. It's mega cheap and it was great to catch up.
2. Walking home from the curry and finding a whole, wrapped in plastic, cucumber in the gutter. My friend took it home for her rabbit. Made an interesting twist on doing a Reverbe!
3. Doing my tax return online and finding that I'm due a £20 refund. Every little helps! I think I shall start a savings fund to save for the classic VW camper van that I've always wanted when I get back in 2011 from my year away.
4. Making spicy carrot and lentil soup for lunch and having it with a homemade roll. Just half a packet of lentils and some carrots, some of which were past their best anyway, made enough soup for six lunches. Bargainaceous!
5. Transferring some funds into my SIPP to ensure I'm a rich old lady.
6. Getting all but one of the items on my "to do" list done.
7. The wine that I took up to the curry house (it's BYO) really wasn't very nice, so I brought the remainder home and that will go in a casserole in the slow cooker during the week. I loathe waste and it should be fine in cooking.
8. Catching up on more missed sleep - had a refreshing nap before I went out.
9. Reading some great online fiction.
10. More lovely cuddles with Fudge and Willow.
Have a good day, everyone. I have my fingers crossed for when I take the car in tomorrow for the MOT - hopefully won't be too expensive! The car is 13 years old but has always been extremely reliable (Citroen Saxo) and has never cost very much at all to get through the MOT. Hope that continues tomorrow, as money is a little tight this month, what with having a new TV aerial fitted, etc.Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
Morning all,
Loved reading the poster who had ordered some freebies for their parents (and dog), that was really nice.
1. Understanding my notebook a bit better. Think it's always good to push yourself with technology and I love my notebook!
2. dw and wm on, lovely that smug feeling that I can be on here and stuff is being done, so no time wasted.
3. my loved one giving a review of the waitrose versus lidl hot cross buns, how they sliced and toasted etc. Waitrose won!
4. completely rearranging the living room furniture yesterday and to boot realising that a piece of furniture I thought I had to buy, I dont't need to, i just need to relocate a piece from the lounge.
5. filling the dogs treat ball now instead of filling his dog bowl with food. you forget that sometimes they want to have fun and a challenge. he eats everything up no probs when its in the treat ball!
Have a great day everyone, no matter what the weather.Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

Morning all,
Yesterdays pleasures:
- DH got up early to cut, reseed and feed the grass so it will look lush and green this summer. He also tidied the boarders, I love it when our garden is neat and tidy (It doesn't happen very often!)
- The sun shone for most of the day.
- Resisted temptation to have a BBQ and went with the preplanned tea using up bits from the fridge.
- We didn't go out all day, so had a NSD :T. Which never happens on a saturday in this house.
- Noticed that our salad leaves are growing at a tremendous rate and may be big enough to eat soon.
Just remembered my favourite pleasure for yesterday:
- Freecycled my first item! It was something that was too good to throw away and yet not suitable for a charity shop. It went to a really good home and I even got a little thank you email from the person too.Value of prizes 2010 - 2017: £8374 Wins 2022: Magic set
Debt free thanks to MSE0 -
Afternoon all.
Having been away for a couple of day I'm not going to try and reply to everyone, so I'll just say hope you're all well and hugs to those who aren't.
Here's my five a day for the past few days:
Friday
1) Drove all the way from Portsmouth to south London and back without getting lost once.(And I now have a new respect for anyone who drives long distances for a living - I was exhausted by the time I got home!)
2) I was a bit worried about finding things to talk about with my grandmother - apparently she had the same concerns - but we were fine and the time flew by.
3) Popped in to see my other grandmother and she passed over some curtains she doesn't want anymore. They're not really my taste but at least they'll keep out the light from next door's conservatory, which they use every morning before going to work - at 5.30am!
4) Got home too tired even to read my book, so I flopped on the sofa with a glass of wine and watched few more Hairy Bikers episodes - hooray for internet television!
5) I was so worn out from all the driving that I went to bed early - I was in bed by 10.30 and asleep by 10.35.
Saturday
1) Nice sunny morning so I got a load of washing done and out on the line, and it was nearly all dry by the end of the day.
2) Also did some gardening, including planting out by nasturtiums, which were getting a bit big for their pots.
3) Saw the first two blue butterflies of the year - quite appropriate for FA Cup Final day.(Which was between two teams who usually play in blue, for non-football fans wondering what on earth I'm talking about.
)
4) Although Portsmouth didn't win the FA Cup, they played well and didn't disgrace themselves (apart from a truly shocking attempt at a penalty).
5) Treated myself to a Chinese takeaway in the evening, using the £20 my grandmother insisted on giving me for petrol - petrol's not quite that expensive yet (although it may only be a matter of time), so I used it for fuel for me instead.
6) And the portions were huge so there's more veggie noodles in the freezer for next time I fancy a Chinese. (There would have been BBQ ribs left for next time, too, except I couldn't resist polishing off the whole lot.)
Sunday
1) Long lie-in this morning - I think the excitement of the last few days finally got to me.
2) A lazy day of doing not very much at all, which is greatly under-rated, I find.
3) Ordered some hostas from a company my mum tracked down for me which has a special offer of free delivery in May - I'm replacing a rare hosta which died last winter and I haven't found anywhere since, plus a couple more for luck as I love hostas.
4) My azaleas and rhododendrons are out in flower, and look so lovely with the bluebells.
5) Dinner from the storecupboard / freezer - I'm getting ever-closer to emptying out the freezer enough to let me de-ice it.
Have a lovely rest of weekend, folks.Back after a very long break!0 -
Hope everyone is well, I'll be reading through everyone's posts later

Wyld Stallyans Rule!Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
