Hiya all
Well, I spoke to mum today. Not as good as we hoped but not as bad as it could have been. She will be starting radiotherapy in about a month and has a 6 week course of it. Then she will be on pills for 5 years as this cancer is caused by hormones. At least no more surgery and no chemo. She sounded ok when i spoke to her.
So mine for today:
1 left for school run on time
2 Toddler group this morning and we painted although the mums seemed to run out straight after snack which is when i do the singing!!! Maybe I scared them last week!!! :rotfl:
3 Under 5's cooking. We made burgers and the kids had them for tea.
4 Family seal. Made masks so lots of glue and glitter!!!
5 After speaking to my mum i have been feeling a bit down but all 3 kids have given me lots of cuddles. ds2 hugged me for an hour (he was a bit grumpy as he didnt get his nap this afternoon, but I needed the cuddles so let him cling to me!!!)

Hi all, my five for today:
1) breakfast in bed courtesy dp
2) cuddles from dd
3) window shopping in the sunshine at lunchtime
4) telephone conversations with colleagues
5) roast for tea"We have to be kind because everyone is fighting a great, great battle" - Sir Richard Attenborough
"There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women" - Madeleine Albright0 -
Here are my five pleasures for today. On the whole, it has been a bit rubbish today but there you go. Swings and roundabouts, eh?
1) Finishing Nella Last's Peace. What a lovely book and such an inspirational woman.
2) Seeing all the little bunnies in the countryside on the way to work.
3) Finding some great new recipes.
4) A simple sandwich at lunchtime.
5) Watching the squirrels while waiting for the bus - cute!
As I said, it hasn't been the best of days. What with things not working and all, I could well do without it! It's nearly over though - just got to wait for DH to get home. Hope it isn't too long. Anyway, have a good evening, everyone.
KB xx

Evening all.
I'm really not sure I can think of five pleasures for today, but I'll try:
1) My favourite tree is still out in flower and still really lovely - it's a recurring pleasure as I have to walk past it on the way to the office every day.
2) My colleague who was so tactless on Tuesday was really sweet to me this afternoon - it's the first time she's spoken to me since Tuesday so I think she realised what she said wasn't nice and was a bit embarrassed about it.
3) Ordered a copy of the Hairy Bikers mums book through the work book club - cheaper than Amazon and without any of the usual faff over delivery. It should be waiting for me when I get back to the office on Monday, with a bit of luck.
4) Watching the cat playing with his toy mouse.
5) Dinner from the freezer tonight. I'm slowly running down the contents so I can defrost the freezer, which it desperately needs - another week or so and it might be do-able.
Have a good evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Evening all,
Sorry to hear so many of you have had a bad day hope it's better for all of you tomorrow.
Mine for today:
1. Got to work to find lots of people ill with a sickness bug not a pleasure, the pleasure being I am not one of them thats ill
2. Free lunch today as loads left from the exec meeting as all the directors were sickly.
3. Walked home from work plus walked DD to guides and back. The walk was lovely and there were some lovely smelling trees not sure what they were.
4. Received some dog treats in the post, mums dog will be ver happy
5. Outnumbered on TV
Hugs to all who need them0 -
2) My colleague who was so tactless on Tuesday was really sweet to me this afternoon - it's the first time she's spoken to me since Tuesday so I think she realised what she said wasn't nice and was a bit embarrassed about it.
That's good, CCP, I guess maybe we all put our foot in it at times and say thoughtless things. Glad things turned out that way. Thinking of you and your gran x.
Caterina, somehow I can't quite see you as a Stepford wife! Sounds like you've had a good day.
My 5 for today:
1. Getting rid of a job at work that had been bugging me and which I hadn't really got the time to do. I found a willing volunteer to take it over for me. One to cross off the list!
2. Having a good day at work generally - cracking on well with what I had to do and getting it done quickly. Makes the day go by better.
3. Delicious homemade butterbean and mushroom curry with rice for tea. Yum. Had some soya yoghurt with it and I think Alpro may have changed their recipe - it's always tasty but this was especially creamy and yummy. I do like food...:D
4. Making really good progress with editing my short story. Just need to tweak the opening and think of a suitable title. Funnily enough, food is a strong theme in it
5. Seeing a cute little rabbit as I drove home, although I did pray that he didn't shoot out into the dual carriageway. I work in a semi rural area and regularly see squashed animals as I drive to and from work, sadly.
6. Grooveshark was down this evening, so I cracked open Windows Media Player and found loads of albums that I've not listened to for a while. Meat Loaf is coming out of the speakers as I type...
Hugs to all who've had a bad day or who are just in need of one (a hug, not a bad day!)Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
Hi all, here are mine for the day-
1. Spending a while in my sunny conservatory reading my book, almost finished now!
2. Had some stitches out after an operation, don't need the dressings on it now and a bit of a relief it doesn't look any worse than I expected!
3. I've stretched a weeks shopping over more than a fortnight now as couldn't get to the shops. My freezer's looking much more manageable and the fridge is almost empty of wrinkly bits.
4. Some of the wrinkly bits (see 3 above!) are soaking in a pan ready for making into marmalade tomorrow. I'd have thrown them away before but today I have the ready chopped oranges and a home made apple pie.
5. Stretched the last bit of food for tea by making home made rolls and some lemon iced buns, it's amazing what you can make out of very basic ingredients.
That's all, off for a lovely lie down now, sleep well everyone x.
PS I second the 'where's Ollie?', hope all's ok x£2 savers club no.107 :j £36 so far.0 -
Shadowsfall the terrible thing is, DM is 89 in a few days and I'm 26 years younger...we should know better!
niksyg he'll be pretty put out when I hand the treats over the garden fence to my neighbour
Caterina please don't keep doing your ironing, my conscience is severely rattled by the pile I have sitting on the dining chair
bunny too and alisong, Ollie last posted on 31st March....I'm seriously concerned now too
my 5 -
1. Bought a chook in Mr A for £3, it's done two roast dinners, a salad, a sandwich, and I stripped the rest, put it in the wok with red onion, red pepper, tomatoes, mushrooms, some odds from the bottom of the fridge and a few handfuls of pasta. It's made 7 portions for future dinners so 11 meals in total, which I'm really pleased with
2. Had my lunch in the garden where I can smell the white lilac tree and watch the washing blowing dry in a tiny breeze. Perfick
3. Postie brought me a nice letter from the local council to tell me my CT is going down :T. Only by a couple of £'s but every little helps
4. De-haired the downstairs carpets. I love my Miele CatnDog
5. Bought DM a subscription to her favourite weekly magazine for her birthday, which including postage was £4 cheaper than if she got it from the shop
6. Just gong to speak with DF in Beijing :heartsmil
Night night, sleepy tight

:j Ola! Hope all is well in the land of Pleasure Thread. What happens if I get offered both
Do I do what I know, or leap into the slightly unknown? Wish I hadn't lost all my confidence with redundancy
nuttybabe glad to hear things are better than first thoughtKitchenbunny here's to a better day today  alisong well done on the stretching! sparrer  that's amusing indeed! Good on you both! Also, thanks for reminding me of a pleasant thought I had while leaving OHs this morn........;)
1. Smelling the wuverly wild plants and flowers in OHs garden and lane when I left this morning. He shares a house with two 20+ boys and none of them do any gardening so it's quite amazing what grows wild there!
2. My first lovely thought of the day was that I will be planting lots of lovely things in my garden and will be smelling them as they blossom over the next few years
3. OH felt better today and was very happy to see me and be taken care of. Aww. I bought him soup :heart2:
4. As he was walking out the door he picked up my hand and kissed it, hee!
5. Was singing in the car yesterday on the way home and it was the best I've sang for a while - confidence issues. This is a big thing for me as I write and want to be able to sing my songs. Was rather proud.
6.Going to write up my toilettries stash today - this will be a mission but fun! I enjoy lists :rotfl:
7. I think... maybe... summer IS arriving :T
8. Looking after the rabbit that OHs house mates bought and are now bored of - it's hard to describe how much this gets to me - it's a pleasure to be able to make sure he has what he needs as he is a lovely little chap. OH and I are on the case to have him rehomed asap as I can't have him at my place as he'd get eaten by doglet or catlet!
9. Going back to mine after workies where OH will join me amd we shall have a lovely relaxed evening on the couch :kisses3:
10. It's FRIDAY!!
Thanks for reading, have a lovely day today everyone
