5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Evening all!
I have had such an awesome day (well besides being woken up at 3am by a feline intruder... and then having to get up at 5am to get to to work...)
1) I FLEW THE HELICOPTER!!!!! Yes ladies, that's correct... they gave me the controls and I flew the helicopter for about 5 minutes. It was so difficult but so much fun. I eventually got confused and had to hand back to the pilot though. Our 4 passengers were very nervous!!
Well... not much can beat that but we had a great day.
2) Picked my own asparagus for supper. We were eating it straight out of the field and it is so different when it is fresh. I love asparagus at the best of times, but just picked stuff is amazing!
3) NSD
4) Speaking to my mum and dad on the way home from the airfield. My dad loves all things flying so was very excited to speak to me (even though he hates phones)
5) Coming home to the lovely smell of beef stew in the slow cooker. Though I have eaten so much today that I really don't want it. So I'll thicken it up and bung half in fridge and half in the freezer.
Anyway - have a great evening everyone.
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
CCP oh my goodness, how insensitive! No wonder you felt down
newlywed well done on getting the second interview
wssla00 great news
berniesmaster hope your application is approved soon
My five for today:
1) breadfast in bed courtesy dp
2) cuddles from dd
3) yummy Asda pizza for tea with six toppings
4) chilling out on the sofa afterwards
5) catching up on posts whilst dp watches the football"We have to be kind because everyone is fighting a great, great battle" - Sir Richard Attenborough
"There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women" - Madeleine Albright0 -
Wow, Ladyhawk! Sounds fab!
CCP, aren't some people insensitive? I can't imagine saying something like that to someone!
My 5 for today:
1. Yummy spicy pasta for lunch and spicy patty for tea with mash & veg. I do like spicy food...:D
2. Making good headway with revising my current short story.
3. Doing the bulk of an unpleasant job at work. Nearly there now; I should be able to finish it soon and get it out of the way. It will be the last time I ever have to work on that particular one.
4. Good chat with one of the bosses at work. He reckons the firm is set to lose about 1/4 of its fee base  over the coming year. Now that's not a pleasure and I hope for his sake that it doesn't happen, but it did reinforce my feeling that I'm doing the right thing in leaving the firm.
5. Getting an email to confirm that one of the books that I've requested from the library is ready for me. Hopefully the others will be ready soon. I do love our free library service! :jLife is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
Evening all,
Feeling tired today. Early night beckons.
1. Only having soup to eat this evening as both felt so tired but it was nice and light.
2. Picking up some bits from a fellow freecycler, makes you warm and fuzzy.
3. Warm house.
4. A hot drink bought by a friend today who said I looked like I needed it, must return the favour.
5. Seeing that the kitchen isnt too bad (thanks to flylady).
Night all.Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

Hiya all, hope u are all well. Been to hospital today for a check up so had a pretty boring afternoon!
Mine for today:
1. got the all clear for my ear problems at hospital today!
2. Managed to get parked in a very cheap car park instead of the hospital and saved myself a couple of quid.
3. When i came out of hosp there was a huge queue to pay for parking so saved myself masses of time too!
4. Went for a lovely little walk in the sunshine with doggy.
5. Ordered doggy lots of freebies from the freebies board, just hope they turn up now!Aug £10 a day £0/£10000 -
Good evening
After my couple of days off of housework duties, it was very much back to the grindstone today, here are my pleasures:
- A very productive day getting all clothes washing and dishes done and put away.
- Tidied the kitchen table of junk that had appeared over the last few days so we can use it again.
- Getting some bits and pieces of paperwork done and wrote all the birthday cards for the next few weeks (May is a busy month for birthdays in our family!)
- A parcel I have been waiting for arrived (nothing for me unfortunatly, but it means I don't have to wait in for it tomorrow)
- Listening to the radio whilst I cleaned the kitchen. I find listening to Jeremy Vine on radio 2 or anything on radio 4 very comforting and relaxing.Value of prizes 2010 - 2017: £8374 Wins 2022: Magic set

Hi all
Quick catch up as it is late in the evening and am very sleepy. My job interview has been put on hold (for reason out of their control the email said). I am not too bothered to be honest and it was an excuse for clothes shopping! On the other hand there is a possibility for a small childcare job in the pipeline - see pleasures below.
My pleasures for the last couple of days:
Tuesday:
1 - Long lie-in
2 - Trip to Central London to get myself a suit (I got one, mega discounted, from Planet at John Lewis). Even if this interview is not going ahead now I have a suit for future opportunities so I won't have to run around looking for one at the last minute!
3 - Had snack lunch in Marble Arch M&S Cafe (scone with jam & pot of tea). They let me use the voucher to part-pay for the scone and the total came to 35p!
4 - DS was using some horrid spray perfume and I asked him to stop as it was disgusting, so I told him that if he stops I shall buy him a good quality scent. So while I was in London I got him a very nice one, light fragrance and much classier than the rubbish he was using. It was very discounted because House of Fraser were doing a promotion. I gave it to him (together with a handful of samples of other scents) and he was delighted!
5 - DD and DH made dinner as I was very tired, chick pea, pappardelle and fennel stew with quinoa. Yummy!
Today:
1 - Morning with my friend who is just back from a work trip abroad, I gave her a lot of magazines that I had read. We had a good catch-up!
2 - Lunch with DD in the fish and chip shop, we shared a huge portion of chips, a huge salad and a bowl of mushy peas for very little money - great value!
3 - We then went to M&S where I got her a huge hot chocolate (to use up M&S drink vouchers that will expire on 15th May).
4 - Visited my first baby client who is now a good friend after nearly 8 years, had a good time catching up with her and brought her boys a present each, they loved it. I made pancakes for them like in the good old times when I used to look after them and their mum.
5 - Back home, dinner on the sofa with DH watching TV and we caught up with Ashes to Ashes from last Friday that we had missed.
6 - Checking email before going to bed I found the email that there is no interview tomorrow but also another email from someone who is interested in my help as a ad-hoc child carer for her little boy (ad-hoc is perfect for me!). So, where a door closes, another opens!
7 - In the middle of all this I managed to do a bedding laundry so we are sleeping in a freshly made bed tonight, where I am going to be in the next minute or so!
Good night everybody xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
1. Lots of cuddles with a poorly DD, she was hot and bothered when she came out of school, so won't be going tomorrow or probably Friday now......
2. Worked from home today with a poorly back
3. Replacement EH1C cards came through only a few days after ordering them
4. Friend popped out to get some more Calp0l for DD as we ran out
5. Same lovely friend may look after DD for an hour tomorrow so I can go and pick up my new car.0 -
Howdi folks!
My 5 for today:
1. picked up some bargain fruit bushes at Focus Diy. 3 well established fruit bushes were on a 3 for 2 offer and 4 'stick' fruit bushes that admittedly, don't look so hot, cost only 99p each. All together they cost me less than £12. Well pleased. Here is a pic...
2. DD is getting used to her car (she only passed her test 3 weeks ago) and she drove me to Leek and we did some charity shops. Bought a lovely arch mirror that i have now hung in the hall (the mirror is about 24inches height by about 16 width, at a guess. It looks really nice. I'm afraid i belong to the bodgitt and sodditt branch of DIY, but it's sticking to the wall and that's the main thing innit?
3. Another bargain from a charity shop, are the 3 x tomato gro pots i bought for £1.50 each. They are a lot more expensive than that when bought new and the labels were still on these, so i consider them an absolute bargain....i feel another pic coming on...
4. Bought some birthday cards for friends and wrote them and as it's my brothers birthday today, i had already sent him his card but i text him to wish him all the best. (He was travelling on a day out with his new girlfriend so couldn't phone him).
5. Planted 3 of my netted bags of seed potatoes that i had bought online for only 50p a bag....thing is, i kind of overdid my order, not realising quite how many seed potatoes i was going to get delivered...here is a pic of a table full of my seed potatoes...:eek:Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200
NSD Challenge: October 0/140 -
Wow emm, that's a marathon shop! Trying to think which s/market you missed out, lol
Villagelife the wild asparagus and wild garlic sound delish, well done. I wouldn't know what to look for and would prob poison meself
Tealady congrats on setting up the laptop, clever you
savingforoz the chickpea n veg pasta sounds really good. Good job reaching the polishing stage, would love to read your stories..
CCP I feel so :mad::mad: for you. I'd have been behind bars by now if it was me on the receiving end so well done for rising above it. Re getting lost, my theory is if I head for the nearest main road I'll soon see some signs
newlywed congrats on getting to 2nd interview :T, will keep everything x'd for you. I love the foundation, it's nice to get a really good one isn't it?
shadowsfall lol at your conversation with DM and DF. it's the daft stuff that's funniest. My DM and I had a burping comp a year or so ago...she won, I hasten to add! We've had a few since, too
wssla many congrats on your success! That really is a biggie
bernies hope you application is approved too, I appreciate how important it is. I wish I had the nerve to apply but am sure I'd be turned down so haven't filled in the forms.
nuttybabe I have a picture in my mind of you holding the ironing in your dh's face til he agrees with you. The chicken sounds amazingly yummy, what a good idea
elizabunny belated happy birthday :T, sounds like you've had a really good time. Don't worry about keeping up with everyone's posts, I'm sure I can't no matter how I try
bunny too the pamper evening sounds a lovely treat. The nsd's are too, aren't they?
Ladyhawk I'm not a bit jealous. I'm absolutely GREEN! Oh my, what an experience to remember! Congratulations for flying it at all, let alone for five minutes :T
GirlySquare you gotta love those Asda pizzas, they are just so yummy
mineallmine yes freecycle is amazing isn't it?. Hope you feel better after a good sleep.
lysasparkles congrats on getting the all clear for your ear probs. And good for you saving so much parking money. I think it's very unfair that patients and visitors have to pay so much. A little would be okay but the car parks are a big money maker now
molly how do kitchen tables get so cluttered, I'm for ever tidying mine too. Jeremy Vine is good to listen to, isn't he? Makes housework seem so much lighter
Caterina will keep fingers x'd you get whichever job you want. The childcare one sounds just right, if it comes off. How nice of you to make pancakes for 'your' boys, no doubt very much appreciated:)
Kittikins poor DD, hope she feels brighter in the morning. How exciting you get your new car tomorrow, hope you have lots of happy journeys in it
katholicos, what can I say? Except there'll never be a potato famine while you're about :rotfl: Lots of good bargains in that lot especially yummy tayberries.
My 5
1. Got up early to wait for the shed base man but he didn't arrive til this afternoon (he said he'd be here first thing:eek:) so got lots of tedious bits done while I waited
2. Said man eventually arrived and I have to say he made an excellent job of laying the base. I'd quite like it as a patio
3. He did lots of trimming, cutting back etc which I hadn't asked him to but was delighted with. Even more so as he didn't charge me any extra :T
4. Postie brought the mutt a freebie pack of dog treats but the ungrateful little blighter turned his nose up at them! I told him in no uncertain terms that I know several dogs who will appreciate them
5. Lovely evening out with friends, one was celebrating her birthday so we all indulged in chocolate cake
Night night sleepy tight
