My five for today were:
Having a little bit of a lie in this morning.
Looking at wall tiles for the kitchen and bathroom.
Finishing work until Monday!
Having a nice sandwich from M&S!
Getting into bed and chilling on the laptop:)٩(•̮̮̃•̃)۶ ٩(-̮̮̃-̃)۶ ٩(●̮̮̃•̃)۶ ٩(͡๏̯͡๏)۶ ٩(-̮̮̃•̃)۶ :EasterBun0 -
Welcome newbies and welcome back Caterina
, looking forward to hearing about your holiday. What a beautiful No 3
Missed last night as I was speaking to my dear friend in Beijing for a good couple of hours and quite drained afterwards. I love him very much but it's difficult to know the right words to say now
My 5 - or more...
1. As above, had a longggggggg chat with DFriend for 1p a min
2. Took all the net curtains down and washed them
3. Cleaned all the insides of the windows
4. Ironed the nets and put them back up (I know any creases will drop when they're hung but they look so nice freshly ironed)
5. Mowed the lawn
6 A nsd
7 Found the shed paint on line cheaper than in the store. Will order it tomorrow
8. Found a Lancs web site with things to do in the area. On the second day of our holiday in Morecambe there's a free air show with the Red Arrows :T
9. Made a really tasty pasta bol with some manky bits found in the veg drawer and a small pork loin
10. Used my vote. What a fiasco it's turned out to be though , better get back to the hardcore money saving forums as I think the next few months will make our current recession look like a picnic
Night night, sweet dreams

Happy Weekend!
Got behind with posting, but kept up with reading. 'Yay!' for the NHS, hugs to those that need them, fingers crossed for anyone job hunting and 'Hi' to all the newbies! :A
A hard week ,considering it was only 4 days and my year 11's are out on work experience. Ended the week by stopping a fight and ducking a punch. (He was aiming for the door, not me:eek:).
Recent 5
1. Iron Man 2 (Orange Wednesdays with own popcorn and sweeties).
2. DS1 got good grades for science and English tests. (We have been worried that he has not been working this year).
3. DD looking after DS2 on Thurs as his school was closed for polling. Taking some responsibility at last!
4. Taking the dog to vote. Its one of those strange things that you are allowed to do! The dog is huge and the polling station was v busy, but we had lots of space:rotfl:
5. Making a giant football out of straws with my year 10's on Friday afternoon. The 1970 World Cup Adidas Telstar classic black and white football. (Oops, showing my geekyness again:D). Now I just have to work out how to suspend it from the ceiling!
Bunny - It must be a very emotional time for you. I was bad enough when DD left primary school. What will I be like when she leaves college next year?
Have a lovely weekend. HE x
(Lets hope version 2 doesn't get lost in the ether this time:mad:)0 -
Brrrrr, a chilly morning down here in Sussex, but I mustn't put the heating on again, that's a bad habit to get back into given the parlous state of my finances!!
Yesterday's pleasures
1. I think I must have won a competition was the postie brought me a DVD I didn't order, it looks really interesting, I shall save it to watch on my holiday at the end of the month.
2. Worked from home and as it was quiet did thrilling things like empty the hoover so I could finally do the hated hoovering. Not a huge pleasure but it did look so much better afterwards!!
3. My QveeeeC dresses turned up and I was overjoyed that having ordered a smaller size, which looks TINY, I was able (just) to get them on, so a week or so's concentrated dieting and they'll look lovely, lol. Rather that than buy a size that is bigger and doesn't give me the incentive to be sensible......
4. DD said I looked "swit-swoo" in the above dresses
5. DD slept in my bed and I watched my perfect girl, smiling and then laughing in her sleep. A lovely thing to behold
Today we've got the theatre, a market and a sleepover to look forward to. Happy days! Hope everyone has a great one0 -
Morning everyone, decided to go all pink as I'm in a really good mood. Off to buy new bike leathers at local Thundersprint event as my old ones don't fit me as I popped out a baby lol :rotfl: Not very MSE but we have saved up my maternity allowance so do have a budget :j. Thanks for all the comments about my username, DH was nicknamed Toast from a very close family of ours and when we got married I was automatically Mrs Toast. DS is called Crouton until he grows up. It's got very bizarre.
Here are my 5ish for yesterday.
1. Made fish puree for DS and he scoffed it down again. I'm such a lucky mum.
2. Walked to the library and got and got a book about how to be a greener mum which looks good.
3. Found 12 socket covers for 89p in B&M, BARGAIN ALERT.
4. Had a lovely picnic on the floor after DS went to bed with DH of pizza. It was fatty Friday.
5. Cleared up all the dishes again. I know this sounds silly but the dishes pile is my pet hate especially with bottles etc.
Might not be very MSE today but will get a whole lot of pleasure out of it. Hope everyone has a wonderful day.:jTOTAL DEBT £12,212.46/£2000 paid offDebt Free Goal September 2017#106 Emergency Fund £482.53/£10000 -
Such a miserable rainy , blustery day and we're supposed to be going on A scouts walk and fun day. But nothing can dampen my enthusiasm this morning as my weigh-in showed that I had lost 2lbs and therefore my first stone! :j
CCP - sorry you're feeling lousy
nuttybabe - so glad to hear your mum's op went okay. (((hugs))) for you and family.
Caterina - looking forward to hearing more about your trip.
emilyka - well done on the weight loss and the no smoking. That's a tremendous achievement. :T
sparrer - poor you. I know exactly how you feel about not knowing what to say. My eldest sister wanted us to try and talk normally to her and not mention her leukaemia but then in conversations she would always turn it back round to her treatment and how she was feeling (totally understandable) but it did lead to some very stilted conversations and I still feel guilty that I wasn't better at talking with her at the end.
house elf - you sound like such a fab teacher! I love hearing your inventive ways to get the students involved.
Here are mine for yesterday:
1) 70 lengths of the (small) pool for me; DS2 swimming without his armbands even though he can't touch the floor and DH teaching himself to swim (albeit it only if he's wearing a snorkel mask!) :rotfl:
2) DS2 learning 'knots' at beavers - they gave them strawberry laces to practice on! DS1 had a tree coservation evening at Sea Scouts and after dropping him off at 7.30pm in the rain and wind, not at all suitably dressed (he was told to wear uniform, which consists of Sea Scout jumper and school trousers, whereas all the other scouts seemed to have full combat gear and wellies on). I spent the whole evening feeling like a terrible mother thinking he would be freezing and soaking when I picked him up at 9.30 pm. I took him a flask of Mexican hot choclate to try and placate him, but to my huge surprise he got in the car beaming away after having a brilliant night roaming in the pitch black woods with the other scouts! Must go and by him some wellies today though.
3) We picked up lots of whoopsied emmental for 15p each block and made the loveliest spaghetti cheese (3 small bowls of it - and I still lost 2 lbs?!)
4) Hearing that my sister has lost 2 stone since last October.
5) Going through some of my many stored programmes on the Sky+. (some old Come Dine With Me's last night)
Hope everyone has a great weekend, despite the rubbish weather.DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt

Welcome back Caterina, hope you had a great time in Italy.
Blimus - well done on your weight loss :T
Here are mine for yesterday:
- Washing done, dried (in tumble dryer as weather was pants) and put away
- Finding a Good Food magazine in the coffee table that I hadn't read yet and found lots of new recipes to try.
- HM bolognese and wholemeal pasta for tea.
- Realising we haven't used our Credit card for months and only once since the beginning of the year.
- Cleared and tidied the 'fridge and cupboards ready for a big shop today and realised how little food I waste now (in my "pre-OS" days I would throw bags of fresh food and bread away every week)
Value of prizes 2010 - 2017: £8374 Wins 2022: Magic set

3 - Twinks hob nobs batch 2 in oven - first batch are like dinner plates, am such a novice cook I didn't realise how much they'd grow!

5 for yesterday (if I can remember!)
1) Went to see a friend from High School and her new baby.
2) Got on top of the tidying and cleaning.
3) Little son went to Beavers, again with no problem. This was his 3rd week. I had already explained to the 2 Beaver leaders on the phone what he is like and I had filled in his form and handed it to them yesterday. I had written on the back that he is autistic and what to expect. The leader read it and said, "Well, after we met him, we looked autism up on the computer because we knew nothing about it". Isn't that helpful? I was really touched they had taken the trouble when they have about 20 others to look after.
4) While little son is in Beavers, bigger son and I go for a walk. We had walked for a while then heard the Beavers group coming behind us! (We're right on the edge of a massive Foresty Commission forest). I didn't want little son to be distracted or leave the Beavers and run after us so bigger son and I walked at top speed and hid behind a hedge! I asked him later if he had seen us and he said, "Oh yes, running away, and then you hid behind a hedge - I could see your red hat" !!! LOL!
5) Mum and Dad came round at 9pm because there was something they wanted to watch on BBC4 and their reception is awful. They can't get BBC4 at all.

Hi again everybody
Thank you for welcoming me back and apologies for not commenting on past events, there is so much that I have missed that I would feel bad about mentioning someone and not someone else out of disattention. But now I am back so I can start reading all the posts with attention again!
The trip was "strictly family", not a holiday as such. Long journey there and long journey back (underground, train, change train, sleeper train, bus - break of one day then: train, ship, coach, car. Got to my mum's - then after a week reverse the order of the journey and eventually I was back home).
What I shall say is that I was delighted to see my family, my cousin who (you might recall) had a mastectomy recently is doing chemo but feeling reasonably well, all considered - we spent some good times together while her little boy was in school and her husband away for business. My aunt (her mum) is nearly 81 but still very energetic, she just could not stop cooking for me and I ate some amazing vegetable dinners, she makes the BEST courgette omelette and refried garlic&chilli greens (cicoria ripassata).
Time with my mum and my brother was also good, this time my mum criticised me only a little. My brother did something very nice for me, he told me that he warned everybody in advance to avoid criticising me for my eating habits (almost vegetarian, dairy free) and not to go back into the past to pick at what a bad girl I used to be (mum's usual favourite pastime when I used to visit). Once she started and my brother put a quick stop to it, for which I shall be eternally grateful to him. With my mum in a non-critical state I was able to enjoy her company much more and we really spent some good, peaceful times together.
My brother's wife is quite loud and a bit strident, but she means well, so I put up with the increase in decibels because of her kindness. The kids are ADORABLE savages! Boy 4 and Girl 3 years old, they do not stay still a moment but are really funny (when one manages to keep them talking for a few minutes).
I also managed to spend a little time with some childhood friends and reminisce, and catch up with life. It was great!
Overall it has been the most peaceful stay in a long time and I do not regret it at all.
The only regret was the PATHETIC weather, it rained almost every day, but hey, can't have everything.
My pleasures for today:
1 - Waking up in my bed....
2 - ...near my gorgeous DH!
3 - Breakfast in bed (sliced apples only) courtesy of DH
4 - Second breakfast in bed (fried egg on toast) courtesy of DS
5 - Tea in bed courtesy of DD
6 - Cuddles with all my family, can't stop hugging them, I am so happy to see them again!
7 - Seeing the bathroom (slooooooooooowly) take shape, hopefully will be painted by tonight and I can start the tidying up process (dubious pleasure, I know :rotfl:)
8 - Pasta with red pesto while at the computer, courtesy of DS
9 - Tonight DH and I are planning to go out to a show and then dinner to celebrate my return, so this is an anticipated pleasure.
Hope you are all well xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0
