Not going to go on about the General Election as this thread is not the place but I did feel rather fed up this morning! :(

emilyka - chocolate vinegar is chocolate-flavoured vinegar. Thicker than normal vinegar, a bit gloopy. It's a lovely sweet n sour dressing for salads and gives an interesting kick to vanilla ice cream.
jexy - good to see you back. Sorry you have been feeling down. You sound like you're surrounded by a fabulous bunch of funny and friendly people.
Welcome Mrs Toast - love your user name!

    Here are mine from yesterday:

    1) Voting (luckily the candidate I voted for held his seat).
    2) Despite DS1 landing on my ankle with all his weight I managed to do 40 minutes of step and 15 minutes workout.
    3) Made a really nice lamb tagine with whoopsied lamb.
    4) Modern Family and Outnumbered on tv - belly laugh night!
    5) Tried to stay up to watch as much election coverage as I could but then happily succumbed to bed with a hot water bottle and a couple of pages of my book until my eyelids drooped!

Hope everyone has a good weekend. Hugs to anyone who needs them.

Afternoon all - hope you're all doing OK. It's another quick one from me as I think my day can be quickly summed up - I got up this morning feeling lousy, went to take some painkillers before phoning in sick to work, and cut my thumb on the packet of paracetemol. I still can't decide if that's :( or  or just :o!

I will try and find five things, though:

    1) Got a bit of a lie-in this morning, although I was feeling too lousy to sleep and ended up just lying there like a puppet with cut strings.

    2) Got the washing out on the line for a few hours this afternoon (although I'd better go and get it in in a moment as it looks like it's going to rain).

    3) Received the books I'd ordered (paid for with more survey earnings :)), so at least I had something to read this afternoon.

    4) Like Blimus I'm steering clear of politics (which is pretty unusual for me ;)), but I am very pleased that the Nasty Party (as you so beautifully describe them, Acey) did very badly where I live. :j

    5) Easy dinner tonight - pasta with pesto, mushrooms and bacon. Easy, but so tasty. :)

Have a nice evening, all - I'm hoping I'll feel better tomorrow so I can catch up with everyone properly.
Back after a very long break!

    Hiya everyone

    Mine for today

1 My dad phoned this afternoon to say mum was out of hosptial from her op this morning (she was told a few weeks ago that she had breast cancer) and doing fine. We find out next week if any more treatment is needed so keeping everything crossed for her.

2 A walk to the beach this morning with ds2 and Rex (the dog) as i had to get ds2 out of the house as dh working from home. I dont usually walk Rex to the beach as the other 2 kids wont walk that far and ds2 in buggy so cant actually go on the beach. It was nice to see the waves crashing.

3 Took dd and ds2 to craft this afternoon. they made shakers whilst we had a cup of tea and a natter.

4 Dd telling me a story about when the gruffalo swallowed her and when she came out a cow licked her clean then the pig got her dirty again at the farm. Was so funny! :rotfl:

    5 FAKEOUT night!!! :D

    Have a good evening everyone.

Good luck with the interview Newlywed, and Hi Mrs Toast I love your name!!
    Herre's my five for today
    1. Hubby and daughter did the shopping this morning.
    2. Braised pork shank for tea - first time for this joint. Hubby moaned like blazes when he saw me taking the rind off but admitted it improved the flavour. (it was lush and definately being made again)
    3. Was well enough after tea to pop into morrisons to get some beef drink and tissues.
    4. got some big reduction woopsies at the same time chicken slices less than 1/2 price, organic leeks, a £3.99 gift cake for DD at 49p and some lovely looking neck of lamb.
    5. DS rememberd to put the cold box and bag of goodies in his car before driving up to brum (just hope he remembers to get them out at the other end) Yes he is that scatter brained - we've lost count of the number of wallets he's lost.
    6. over half way on the 12" squares for dads' bedspread.
    7. Getting quite excited about the large slow cooker dad offered me last time we were up, but there wasn't room in the car for.

WOW - I didn't think I would make it to five today lungs felt so grotty

    Hi all

Just back from Italy, knackered so no chance of catching up with past posts so far, but hope you are all well.

Too many pleasures to write about in the last few days, but some for today:

1 - Managing to catch the next Eurostar despite the delay of previous train (I got a voucher for ticket)

2 - Pleasant company traveling from Italy and then from Paris

3 - DH picking me up at St Pancras (longest hug in history!)

4 - Seeing my kids again

    5 - Indian takeaway

6 - Bathroom almost finished (it would have been too good to expect it done before my return LOL)

7 - Savouring my first night back in MY OWN BED!

    Love to all

    Caterina
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Evening all! My 5 for today:

    1. Meeting up with a friend for lunch. We've not seen each other for a few months so it was great to catch up.

    2. The lunch being cheap (see signature - I have a cap on eating out this month!) and yummy - parsnip and paprika soup plus roll.

    3. Short day at work - we finish at 4pm on Fridays.

    4. Reading more good online fiction.

    5. Fitting in a nap when I got home - I tend to burn the candle at both ends, so have naps when I can.
Life is not a dress rehearsal.

Absolutely exhausted today due to 12 hours at work without leaving the desk for so much as a drink so mine will be a short one tonight:

-No smoking :j end of day 4
-Used bolognaise made in a bulk make and freeze exercise... it really does taste better than if you eat it immediately!
-Finished end of the week minus 3lbs despite the non smoking
-Have a lovely lie in tomorrow
-Going shopping tomorrow for a dress for a friends wedding but taking an equally frugal friend so we can be good influences on each other.. oh and get a 2 for 1 on lunch :D

    Much love x
