    Afternoon everyone,

Greetings from a rather overcast Inverness!

I have had a very relaxing day - up early to vote... though I was a complete dope and managed to spoil my vote by voting for completely the wrong party... luckily after about 10 minutes faffing the polling staff issued me with a new voting sheet!

    1) Voted - I really think that it is one of our few civic duty to vote

    2) My flight went on time and whisked me to the lovely highlands, so no 9 hour train ride!

    3) Afternoon kip

    4) Staying a lovely old hotel - owned by a lovely, friendly proprietor

    5) I'm not in the office

I really had better go and get dressed for the dinner I am going to tonight... taxi will be here in 45 minutes!

    L

PS - Good luck for the interview Newlywed

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

molliethewestie - you and me both - staying up for results - Will try to doze in front of TV this evening in preparation!

Shadowsfall and sparrer - thank you both for your messages.

    My 5 for today:

    1. Met up for coffee this morning with a relative I hadn't seen before - result of family history research. Was a bit apprehensive, but we had a good time together.

    2. Coffee was very nice, also toasted crumpets and blackcurrant jam. And a string trio was playing in the background!

    3. CPN came to see me this afternoon - will put a few more wheels in motion to improve DH's care (disabled blue badge, maybe another day per week at his centre, etc). Hadn't met her before, and she was very friendly and helpful.

    4. Managed to get some tidying up done while waiting for CPN - had felt so tired that I'd felt I couldn't face it. But I told myself to get as much done as poss. in 15 mins (a la Flylady - not that I really follow her) - and it worked.

    5. Handed in our postal votes at local polling station (as left it too late to post!) and bumped in to a friend - had a nice little chat.
Keeping two cats and myself on a small budget, and enjoying life while we're at it!

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    Evening all.

A bit of a quick one from me tonight as I'm still not feeling great - I've been off work today as I've been feeling so off-colour. :( I'm determined to find 5 good things, though:

    1) Having decided I was too ill to go to work I got a couple of hours' extra sleep.

    2) And being at home meant I could treat myself to HM chicken soup from the freezer for lunch - just what you need when you're unwell. :)

    3) My new bread bin arrived, paid for with vouchers from doing surveys.

    4) Dragged myself out to vote and found the queue for the polling station was out of the door - it's great to see so many people making the effort.

    5) Found the final episode of my favourite TV show on iplayer - I couldn't find it over the weekend and thought I'd missed it, so it was very pleasant to find I hadn't.

    Have a pleasant evening all.

newlywed - good luck with the interview. Let us know how you get on!
Back after a very long break!

Winchelsea - just been reading about your meeting with your family member on the May grocery challenge thread - that sounds wonderful! I'm thinking about researching my family tree and you've inspired me :)

Another few additions to my list:

Bought a new pedal bin for the bathroom, paid for using Nectar points

Edwin the hamster is being entertaining now he's brave enough to wander around his cage while we're in the room

Had lovely spinach and ricotta tarts whoopsied at Tesco for tea, along with some Aldi new potatoes (gorgeous!) and some salad - yum

Made weetabix chocolate brownies for the first time with storecupboard ingredients so we'll see how they turn out.

    Voted - as should everyone!

    Have lovely evenings xx

    Hiya everyone

Mine for today (got to be quick as I have a sock monkey to make - free listing on ebay this weekend so worth a try!!! :p)

1 Toddler group this morning. 1 of the kids sat down with me whilst i sang the nursery rhymes and joined in thankfully! gets a bit embarassing when i am singing to myself!! :p

2 Under 5's cooking this afternoon. Made honey potatoe wedges. And lovely they were too! :D

3 Made chocolate mousse in family seal today. I didnt like it but kids did so might let them make it again.

4 Changed the sheets and sprayed lavender in the bedroom! fingers crossed for a decent night sleep tonight.

5 I think I have perfected my dishwater gloop! It used to leave the glasses looking cloudy but I have done a wash since altering it and everything came out sparkly clean! With that and the dishwasher tabs i got at weekend i think i should be ok for about a year and a half!!! :p

Right, off to do some sewing!! Have a good evening everyone.

    1. Made another delicious carrot cake to take to London office :)

    2. A man on the train unknowingly gave me a Reverbe - I dropped my purse on the floor and he picked it up for me with an extra 10p :)

    3. Was given lovely bunch of flowers and fun belated birthday card from colleagues in London

    4. They also took me out for lunch :)

    5. So, with the savings on lunch I was able to treat me and DD to lots of lovely YS bargains (raspberries, strawberries, cheap loo roll, lol) this evening.

    6. My lovely parents are loaning me the remainder of the money I need to buy my car - yay, the heavens ok, my parents, have been kind :):)

    7. I was recognised on a global conference call for all my hard work, I was very touched and realised that that was why one of my colleagues had been chasing me to make sure I joined the call, tee hee.

    8. Came home to a letter from employer informing me that people at my level are going to be given healthcare benefits - yippee!! It's been a bugbear that my level get zilch benefits, but now I'll be able to charge some of my frequent osteo trips to the company :)

    9. Also received a new credit card with zero foreign exchange rate, thanks to advice on here.

    10. Lovely friend took DD to school for me this morning as I had to get out of the house at the crack of dawn to slowly and carefully drive to Gatw!ck to park for London train - can't wait, this time next week, I'll have my new car, can't come soon enough!!
