Evening all
House elf - I wish!!!!!!!!!!! My mum has loads for her craft stall and I have some on my website so now just waiting!! Although I do have some orange/black striped socks that I think will make a good witch sock monkey so might get on with that!!!
Emm-in-a-pickle - where is it you are going to stay in Devon. We used to keep our caravan down there.
Sparrer - Our kids play house is painted forget me know blue with darker blue door and window shutters. its looks so pretty.
Blimus - thats great news about your sister. you must be so relieved!
Mine for today
1 Finished yesterdays flylady whilst ds2 played in the garden
2 Got the blinds soaked and put back up. Look as good as new (except for the fraying but you cant really notice that!!!:p)
3 A lovely warm sunny day
4 dd in a really good mood today. she was laughing and giggling so much I had to get her out of the house as dh was working from home!! So we took the dog for a walk and had a really nice talk. Usually she is tired after nursery and a bit grumpy but today she was a joy.
5 Found some cream slices at back of freezer that we had for dessert today and yummy they were too!
Have a good evening all.0 -
Evening all,
Blimus - so glad that it looks as if your sister's lump is benign... great news!
CCP - Get better soon... sorry to hear that you are feeling under the weather
1) All in all a good day - I passed my audit with flying colours... what a relief!
2) Posted off a DVD I sold on Amazon...
3) Yummy cottage pie for supper left over from last night so no faffing about with cooking tonight
4) Looking forward to tomorrow - I have to go up to Inverness so either I fly up if the airport is open which means I will get there at 11am and will have the day to myself to relax at the hotel, or I'll get the train up which means that I will have 9 hours to relax and read my books... sorry, obviously work hard on all the projects that are outstanding!
5) Got some samples of coke and schweppes lemonade at work... yum! I don't often allow myself coke but it would have been rude not to accept a bottle.
Wish me luck for tomorrow! ... and don't forget to vote!
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -

Evening all,
Hope all is well in the land of old styleeee!
Feeling a bit grouchy today, day 2 of quitting smoking and day 10 of the diet is wreaking havoc on my mood  Nevermind... all for the greater good!
My 5 for the day:
-Using up some salmon fillets that were lurking in the back of the freezer for dinner (trying to empty out the freezer so I can warrant refilling it- I really love food shopping )
-Had a rubbish day at work so to cheer myself up went to the bank at lunchtime and took out my monthly buget in cash to split up... nothing like a wedge of wonga to cheer you up :rotfl:
-No spend day (think I'll be having more of these without buying cigarettes!)
-watered my seedlings
-As I write i'm drooling over Jamie O... oops I mean getting some further inspiration for healthy cooking
Night all! x[STRIKE]Saving for a deposit on a flat[/STRIKE]
:j
Had offer accepted 21/10/2011
Survey completed 25/10/2011
Mortgage offer accepted 22/11/20110 -
Very tired today.
Here's my 5!
1) Went to college this morning and it went pretty well.
2) Popped in to Sainsburys to buy some bits for tea and ate my sandwiches in the car listening to Jeremy Vine getting over excited at the prospect of talking to William Hague. :-S
3) Bigger son started free fencing lessons at school.
4) Little son and I went for a walk round the village while bigger son was parrying and lunging and saw 14 deer - in the Christmas tree plantation!
5) Neighbour came round for a cup of tea which was nice although also strained due to sons refusing to go away for even 10 seconds. Bigger son kept staring at whichever of us was talking, refused to get in the bath "because someone new was in the house" then kept asking me very loudly if I was going to vote the same way as my neighbour then asked him if he would be voting for the Nasty Party (we had had a little chat about the BNP. Me and sons, that is, not me and neighbour!)
6) Have had a good clean of the kitchen, cleaned all the open shelving, work surfaces, floor and the stairs.

3. Naughtily put the heating on tonight as I was freezing, DD was obviously far warmer than me as she stripped off to her undies!
4. Shared a bath and a "hairwash" with DD, so was in my jimjams at 8 when a neighbour popped round to ask me a favour, oops!
5. Offloaded in a nice, funny chat with one of my bosses about another boss who is a major pain in the buttocks, but who is really nice, so it's hard to ever tackle her about being a diva.
6. NSD today - woo hoo!!0 -
house elf it's only a 6x4 shed so if you're short like me it shouldn't be a problem
. I have some pretty yellow and blue checked fabric which would make lovely curtains - or is that going a tad too far? :rotfl:
Kittikins ditto, and lol about financing the new car, quite agree with you - the solution will come manana
Savingforoz well done on getting the grim job over and done with, must feel very satisfying
Shadowsfall what a lovely drive to start your day, you have to feel sorry for the ants tearing up and down the Mways to their offices
Thank you for the link molliethewestie, I saw short ribs in the butchers last week and wasn't sure what to do with them, now I can buy some. I'll let you know how the recipe goes, minus the alcohol of course, in a few days
I agree niksyg, there's something particularly soothing about being able to stroke a dog (or cat), a great de-stresser. Congrats on getting free tickets, enjoy the tattoo :T
The butternut and carrot soup sounds good Lilian, it's always satisfying to rescue some lurking veg and make them into a good meal isn't it?
Ooh lucky you zara, bet you feel good in your new Joules scarf
I'm another fake tan fan sunbat, especially at this time of year when a little colour makes you feel, and look so much better after a long pale winter
Good for you Bernie, wasting any food isn't at all OS, and to waste chocolate would be sacrilege
Excellent news re your sister Blimus, I hope they soon find out what it is and get it treated tout suite
So pleased you had a good night's rest Winchelsea, it makes all the difference when you have such a demanding 'job' to do
Sorry to hear you're not up to par ACEY :A, get better soon! Well done for a lovely long post even though you don't feel so good. Hope the warmth of the ch helps. Lol at the story of the neighbour's visit
Great news re the pulm rehab course wogglemaker :T, I really hope it makes as much difference for you as it has for me. You'll not only benefit but if it's anything like the one I go to you'll have great fun and lots of laughs as well. When do you start?
Lol nuttybabe we'll start a forget-me-not blue trend! So many finding things at the back of their freezers tonight but yours has to be favourite
Good luck for tomorrow Ladyhawk, have a good trip whichever way you have to make it. Congrats on passing the audit too :j
What a good idea to do a cook book for your DS for uni bunny too. I didn't get a reply to my pm to Ollie and think someone said they tried to send her one more recently but her in box was full...wish we could hear something cos it's really quite worrying now.
Emilyka many congrats on the no smoking, are you using any substitutes? You're brave to diet as well cos you'll soon find that food really tastes delicious!
My five
1.DD asked me to go to a dog show with her tomorrow (today) unfortunately I can't as it would mean leaving my own mutt on his own for 12 hours but it was lovely to be asked

3. Future DDiL has been accepted on her 3-year uni course
4. Finished off yesterdays Chinese for dinner, and there's still some rice which I'll use up tomorrow

Nuttybabe, we`re going to Modbury, famous for it`s stand against plastic bags!
Molliethewestie, your post re arthritis , BRILLIANT - one positive post like yours, from patients` perspective is worth fifty from NHS staff.
Blimus, I`m really glad your sister`s lump is benign. 15 years ago I had one that was only a fluid-filled cyst, after a week of terror I can`t tell you how happy I was when the doctor simply stuck a needle in and drew out the fluid, stuck a plaster on less than size of 1p, then said - `feel - it`s gone! BUT, keep on checking.` Six years ago I found another lump, this one WAS malignant, was surgically removed and because quickly found and dealt with I had the `all clear` and regular screening for the next five years (I had radiotherapy but didn`t need chemo) Discharged from breast clinic and off the prophylactic meds a year ago, but, I STILL check...
Jexy, hope you feel better love, no fun being tired, drunk AND fed up, it`s a bad combination (been there too!) D`you mind if I ask, what do you drink? It`s just that when fed up folks tend to drink more (and faster), & when tired hope to sleep it off, tend to wake in the night dehydrated, so tired again next day, so fed up again. My own answer to this dilemma has been to change my `poison` to something I can acceptably dilute. If it`s beer make it a diet lemonade shandy, etc. My own preference is wine, & I now find the cheap & cheerful red in a box (a bottle doesn`t touch the sides on the way down on a `fed up` evening!) goes well with just cold water- mixed fifty/fifty I can GUZZLE that, and then slow down and sip, and I get a decent kip, not waking up dehydrated, etc. Personally I`ve never got on with spirits, but whatever you`re drinking, take a good amount of water too, and/or fruit juice, in between drinks if not with `em, so you`ll sleep better and a drinkie doesn`t make you feel worse! Hugs anywayJexy, sounds like you need `em.
SavingforOz PLEASE tell me what a BYO restaurant is. All I could think of was it`s not licenced so Bring Your Own wine...can`t be right!
Emilyka - quit smoking AND dieting too! Respect, deep, deep respect for you. As soon as I try to do either I instantly feel a sense of Deprivation, best I can do is keep myself too busy to eat or smoke, so cutting down by distraction works better for me than self-discipline!
Acey - you are one of the good guys, Bless you! I loved your post about your neighbours` birthday and telling your kids about the `Nasty` party.
Now to my `five a day`, sorry I`ve rambled but so many great posts to read and respond to here.
1) See above!
2) Had a lie-in but got called in 2 hours early on late shift.(Short-staffed again, but now have time off owing - maybe get it back by retirement!) It`s a Team Thing, so colleagues reaction at work today v. warm when I got there. Wasn`t too bad.
3) Day off tomorrow, only one till next Wednesday, so shopping, cleaning, voting, cooking, etc after a lie-in, but NO `work`!!!! I have to laugh, keeps me sane (!?)
4) Got home at 9.15 pm, I HAD planned supper as HM beefburgers with Aberdeen Angus lean mince (Whoopsied to £1.49!) and steamed cauli., but didn`t have time to prep before going to work. Ended up making a Beefcake - put mince and a raw egg and a small tin of green olives chopped up, (couldn`t be `asked` to start messing with onions, actually!) lit the oven, did a a grinding of garlic flakes, chilli flakes and black pepper, and put it in a frying pan like a big fat pancake, rather than messing with dividing it into burgers. Found some mushrooms still sliceable, spread `em on top, and some tired dried-up cheddar cheese on top of them and then slung the pan in the oven while the cauli was in steamer. Poured beefy mushroomy cheesy juice over steamed cauli. Eat yer heart out Nigella! I`m still wondering where the inspiration came from, but I`ll do this again. Oh Yes!
5) Still on a roll, living room felt chilly after getting stuff started in the kitchen, put a firelighter, five sticks and a few lumps of coal...a big log on top when they caught light, and a lovely cheery fire going, still glowing now. Which is more than I can say for me, am now thoroughly spent! Only one basket of our winter logs left now, but I`ll get some another load delivered soon for any cold spring/summer evenings, they won`t go to waste if it`s hot, but it`s SO good to have a cheery log fire rather than feel chily or put central heating on and sweat like a horse!0 -
Morning,
CCP - Hope you feel better soon
Ladyhawk - Well done with the audit, good luck for today
Mine for yesterday:
1. Running late yesterday morning but still managed to get some washing out. Took breakfast to work with me so wasn't tempted to buy something.
2. Won tickets to Real Food Festival at the weekend. Thats Saturday planned for us now.
3. Decided on an impromtu trip to see the cinema to see Iron Man 2 with OH and DD. Only go to see a film on a Wednesday.
4. Bought snacks and drinks before hand in £1 shop
5. Rather than eat out or get a takeaway, threw a quick pasta dish together when we got home and there is enough left for lunch for me today.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Emm-in-a-pickle, BYO does indeed mean Bring Your Own - whatever type of alcohol you fancy, as the restaurant is not licensed.
My 5 for yesterday:
1. Watching a good film in the evening on TV.
2. A client meeting going much better than I'd anticipated.
3. A good chat and a laugh with my boss as we drove to/from the client - things are now back to normal after our falling-out last year.
4. Yummy homemade spicy beanburger for tea and homemade hummus with pitta for lunch.
5. Carrying with clearing the house prior to renting it out.
Have a good day, everyone.Life is not a dress rehearsal.0
