Niksyg - Folks like you and I are lucky in that we can have `furry friends`, as some folks don`t get that very special `welcome home` - no matter how bad the day has been, or how bad your feet smell when you kick off your shoes after a rough shift, a dog still loves you and thinks they smell great! And all they want is your love and company, a walkie gives you reason to go outside again, whether it`s a trot round a concrete block or a bluebell wood, they don`t care as long as it`s with you.
Acey, don`t stress about the timing of your sister`s appointment, what matters is getting diagnosis and treatment, and that`ll be happening now that she`s seen `the man`! Re your embarrassment at school, I`ve been there too, many years back before I took up nursing, working in my kids`school when ex was playing up. No need for YOU to feel embarrassed love, but the Head needs to know the situation, would be negligent if she didn`t. Just be glad (I was!) that you`re IN there rather than being `just a parent` in that situation!
    My OS pleasures today....
    1) A parking place at work this am that wasn`t a 10-minute hike across car parks to ward. (Woke up 10 mins before alarm went off, & no, I didn`t wet the bed as colleagues hinted!)
    2) Humour shared, in a difficult shift. God Bless our Domestic, it was a silly little thing that started it about her misunderstanding about a piece of equipment, but we later shared that with a junior doctor, a physio, and a patient`s wife. Lovely harmless and refreshing giggles shared by all, each time.
    3) Delayed at end of shift, HELL ON WHEELS getting out of carpark. Noticed how courteous everyone was, each driver letting one car out in front of them. Nice, that.
    4) Turned into our little road and my big fat daftie was GALLOPING towards the car, DS was home so back door open - my dog normally lies in our gateway taking things easy, and seldom even breaks into a trot, but she`d heard the car. She was doing a meerkat thing too, up & down on hind legs and whimpering her greeting. More agile than I`ve seen her for ages! Must be Spring!(Memo to Self, she needs a bath soon but don`t tell her yet)
5)Posted deposit cheque for September holiday (Devon, caravan - same place as a couple of years ago, same part of site...I keep picturing that big old hazel hedge nearby, wild strawberry plants thick under it - just take and taste one, leave rest for the birds. Now it`s something to look forward to, after the fuss of summer, I needed that.)
    6) Have a lie-in tomorrow, due to the bank hol, somehow had it in my head today I was on early again but don`t start till 2.15 - BLISS! Also have time to nip down to farm shop and maybe grab some more spinach???
    7) Made an AWESOME Bubble&Squeak tonight, yesterdays spinach stalks & four leftover steamed new potatoes, bit of(unsalted) butter, and steamed cauli leaves. With a Lidl gammon slice and a farm-shop fried egg.

Poor Jex, hope you feel better after a good sleep :)

Oh dear, I have been naughty today, and loved every second :o

    1. Went to the store and bought the shed and paid for half of it with Nectar points. I asked the lady if I get Nectar points for the half I paid for in cash, and she said I get them for all of it! :T

    2. A very nice man came to quote for the levelling and base, he also said he'd put the shed up when it arrives (in about 14 days). He quoted £135 altogether which is £50 less than last weeks man who wanted £185 just for doing the base

    3. Chose the wood preservative...forget-me-not blue for the body and cream for the door and window frame. Eb@y also do little false shutters which would look sweet at the window painted in darker blue and cream... I'm going to have a little beach hut in my garden :rotfl:.

    4. Had a Chinese for dinner. Bad Sparrer

    5. Cleaned the downstairs windows...see, I did manage something useful, ha ha ;)

    Night night, sweet dreams everybody

Morning all! My 5 for yesterday:

    1. Superb curry at a new BYO restaurant. Absolutely delicious! And so refreshing to see brown rice on the menu.

    2. Not having to pay for the curry as it was a birthday treat!

    3. Having enough wine left over to take home - I'll use it to poach some pears in the slow cooker.

    4. Finishing off a particularly grim job at work - all done and out of the way.

    5. Reconnecting with a friend on Facebook who's been absent studying for a while.

    Have a good day, everyone.
Life is not a dress rehearsal.

I have had a truly rubbish day.
I have one pleasure and that was 4:30 when my working day ended and I could go home.
Actually, I have another one and that was taking Bodie pup out for a walk in the bluebell wood - thank goodness for furry friends!
Lovely things they are, huh. We have a 2yo German Shephard who is consistantly naughty but lovely and are planning on rescuing another (we've seen a lovely Husky/GSD pup that needs a home)... can't wait. The cat will have her nose in the air when it happens though! She's not a fan of cold dog nose! :rotfl: Glad you could find something to be happy about - good on you :)

Having a lovely (if not cold & wet nose up the back of my leg) hug with my 11 month old puppy! Shes HUGE!
    Again - lovely stuff!

    5) Had a chat with my neighbour. Our paths don't really cross very often but he lost his job today. It is also his birthday and I find birthdays can be a bit rubbish when you're a single parent and cooking your own cake so sons and I made a tray of fairy cakes and left enough for neighbour and his sons by his door. They had rather a lot of icing and every cake topping going piled on them but were OK!
This was really nice of you, lovely that you noticed he might have enjoyed some birthday attention (and icing!) and also that you're teaching your boys to follow suit. Hope your sister's situation gets better fast too, sounds like she has a great support in you.

Hope you feel better Jexy! Can't wait for more hen-ny updates! And Girlysquare good on you for the positive outlook!

While driving in this morning I felt happy thinking, I can't wait to post today! That's fun.

    1. Again with the sunshine and the leaves and the fields and the birdies on my drive to work.
    2. Listening to 50's choons on the way in, quaint and happy. Can't beat a bit of Elvis in his lush 50's stage!
    3. OH being a lovely little sausage last night by coming up and cuddling me when I'd kinda stomped upstairs after hearing we had to go out again. Love it that he always makes me laugh. He's realised how easy it is to make me smile again by cuddling me! Doh... :p
    4. There are three babies that I ought to go meet now, I'd better go do it before any more get added to that total! I'm not really a baby person (give it a few years...) and they are important little people so I really should go make my introductions. Will be lovely to see my friends with their little people.
    5. I am finally going on the Master Practitioner course of NLP and Hypnosis. Can't bl@@dy wait! So brilliant and wonderful and great to do the initial level, the Master one will be smashin. Good people up there too.
6.Going to my Medium Circle tonight. Be a late one and feel like I haven't been home for ages (been at OHs) and tonight will be fab, so well worth it.
    7. Bought a sarnie and crisps for late lunch yesterday, but it was so yummy I don't care! I haven't bought lunch for a long time and I was really hungry! I've been on shakes and bars in an effort to cut some calories, boy was I hungry. Havin said that...
    8. OH bought me Maccy D's for dinner! Wonderful though. Mmmm.
    9. Going to a big county fair at the weekend, will be funski and there will be lots of food tents :D
10.OH telling me that we'll be enjoying another spend-free wknd this wk - means we will be saving money by entertaining ourselves with each other's company. He's smashin. :heart2:

Cheers for reading and hope you guys all have a wonderful Wednesday! :j

Must get the bad bits out of the way. To those who wrote about my sister's back appointment. Well, we still don't really know why it was brought forward BUT... the man thinks she might have rheumatoid arthritis. She is only 28 but my dad has it as do about 80% of his relations...

ACEY - Sorry to hear about your sisters possible diagnosis, but tell her not to worry too much. Here is a little background from me: I have Stills disease (which is basically severe juvenile rheumatoid arthritis). I was diagnosed at 22, although suffered from joint problems since the age of 7. At 25 I had both hip joints replaced and I have tried many arthritis drugs and treatments. however I have now (at the age of 28 also) found the drug that works for me, *touch wood* it hasn't spread to any further joints since taking it and my pain is controlled most of the time.
Tell your sister there are so many possible treatments that can help with arthritis, there will be a drug out there for her. I lead a reasonably normal life now, something I thought I would never be able to do and its all down to the few pills I take each week. :)

Here are my pleasures from yesterday:
    - Visit to the library to return books, I didn't get any more books out, but did get a free magazine for my area with lots of interesting information in.
    - Bought a couple of essentials at the shops and used some vouchers that have been in my purse for ages.
    - Washing done and dried outside.
    - My new ingrediant "beef short ribs" for tea went down a storm! I braised them for a couple of hours using THIS recipe. They were quite fatty, but yummy all the same.
    - Seeing my elderly neighbour who had a minor op last week is up and about. Met her at the shops and she seems well considering what she has been through recently.

Sorry for my negativity yesterday - and thank you for the support and lovely comments. Having a fairly average day today again, and have uni tonight so will be very busy - which means tired again :-(

But...I am making myself find some pleasures for today -

    1) Listening to classical music on laptop whilst working so feeling more relaxed than if it wasn't playing

    2) lovely hm ham sandwiches for lunch - going to tuck into those in a mo.

    3) happy to have Bodie pup at work with me - not many people are that lucky, so in times of real work stress I can have a cuddle and stroke his lovely soft labrador silky ears - a real stress buster!

    4) Remembered to get my pot of French jam from my friend's office, which is great as used up last of ours on toast this morning.

    5) Free tickets for windsor tattoo arrived today

Wow - not bad - 5 by lunch time on a rubbish day, feel much better now!!
