Evening all! I hope everyone has had a good Bank Holiday. My 5 (OK, 6) for today:

    1. Letting loose my inner domestic goddess again and making bread, spicy lentil soup and hummus.

    2. Surprising myself by actually wanting to go to the gym, when I'd promised myself the day off. So I went!

    3. Finishing off the 20p bag of stirfry and the 20p melon slices that I bought yesterday. Yummy! Still have the pack of grapes, which I'll take to work tomorrow.

    4. Getting everything on my to do list done, including sorting my mother's finances. This was a pain because when I went to open up the data file, it turned out to be corrupt and the last file that I could restore was from December 2008. So I ended up having to recreate 16 months' worth of data. No idea why this happened or why I lost so much data, as I back up every time I update Mum's finances. Anyway, in the past I'd have gone spare, but this time I just got on with recreating the data. I reckon going to the gym so often is helping me destress and become more chilled - I do feel as if I have very little stress these days.

    5. A lovely sunny day here in Bristol, unlike the rain-soaked one we'd been promised. Yay!

    6. Managing to reserve a copy of a book that I want to read from our library. In days gone by, I'd have ordered it from Amazon. Now I support our wonderful free library service instead.
Life is not a dress rehearsal.

    Evening all,

Another devotee of the local library reserving books service - cannot remember last time I bought a new book!

    1. Started decluttering again today. Baby steps in starting up again.
    2. Offered some bits on freecycle and then managed to bag an item.
    3. Seeing a blustery, wet and sunny day all mixed up and not being bothered by it. Weather is a side dish.
    4. Sorting out all my toiletries and make up as part of this challenge.

    5. Downloading some comedy podcasts onto my ipod. Always useful if the train journey is noisy.

    :A
:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

Less things. Less stuff. More life.

    Evening all,

Hope that the weather didn't put too much of a damper on your bank holiday.

    1) Chatting to my mum on the phone

    2) Took 2 big bags of clothes, costume jewellery and books to the charity shop - and they were grateful and said thank you a number of times! I really get annoyed when they just grunt and point to where they want you to leave it.

    3) Painted the front entrance - I have had a patch of pale blue by my front door for 2 years now so I have finally finished doing the stairs!!! WOOHOO!! Why on earth didn't I do that 2 years ago?

    4) I have don't most of the things on my to do list for the weekend. I didn't mow the lawn or plant the tatties or clean the car because of the rain. And I will change my bedding and finish cleaning the kitchen before the evening is out. I had put the heater away on there as well but I fear I might need it tonight! And that's it... all done!!

    5) Made a massive pot of mince with loads of veggies, mushrooms, lentils, split peas and beans. So Have made a big cottage pie and some little pasties and still have loads left over for the freezer. I also made a little caramelised onion and goats cheese tart to finish off the goats cheese.

    Hope your week goes well!

PS - another bog fan of the local library here!

    and

Mineallmine - have you heard The Daily Bugle podcast? It's not to everyone's taste but it amuses me.

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

:( Sad the Bank Hol is over, despite the weather it has been a nice weekend.

    5 OS pleasures

    1. More washing done and dried on the line.
    2. Batch cooking cottage pie and lasagne. Not very imaginative, but popular in our house.
    3. Helped OH finish building DD wardrobes.
    4. Sorted one of my wardrobes and now have a bag of clothes for the charity shop.
    5. Visit to National Trust property this afternoon. Enjoyed by adults and children, especially the cup of tea!

Have a lovely day tomorrow. My class are on work experience, so hoping for a quiet registration time with only a few kids. Am I tempting fate here? :p xXx

    Hello Lillian, welcome :)

    1. The rain held off long enough for DD and I to go to a local village's "independence" celebrations, they're their own state don't ya know, have passports and everything, lol.

    2. DD won a cute lilac elephant handbag at the hook a duck stall.

    3. She did a Reverbe and found 5p in the grass - for our Di$ney trip, at this rate she'll be funding it in its entirety :)

    4. I had the best ever piece of brownie from the WI stall, oh my flipadoodle I can't believe I'll ever have a nicer piece of cake.....nomnomnom!

    5. We cuddled lots of dogs as we walked around, and enjoyed watching a couple of doggie classes at the show.

    6. DD was entranced by an Irish dancing display and has been "practicing" ever since :)

    7. Watching George Gently on BBC at the moment, Martin Shaw....*swoon* :)

    8. Made a scrumptious lentil bolognese for tea, DD said she could eat it all day every day for at least a week!! I don't think I will serve it up for brekkie, but maybe...

    9. DD and I enjoyed ourself at the pool this afternoon, even though the water was freezing *shiver*. We only stayed in for 40 mins, far shorter than usual.

    10. We made a batch of Twinks, yummy, doubt there'll be many left by the morning, lol.

    5 for today!

    1) Had a bit of a lie in.

    2) Did 3 loads of washing!

    3) Went to a Bluebell Walk this afternoon. It was run by neighbours of mum and dad's for charity so you bought a cup of tea and cake and had a walk through their wood. The boys loved it, especially helping to hand out the slices of cake.

    4) Made a king prawn korma for tea then they reckoned they were still hungry so I made some flapjacks.

    5) All homework done and nails cut and filed!

Welcome to all newbies and all pets

Every time you mention something that's going on in the area Kittikins, it brings back lovely memories of the 2 years we lived in East Sx, and the 8 years we lived in West Sx...we had such happy times there :)

I didn't join the challenge mineallmine but saw it a couple of months ago and thought what a sensible idea. I've stuck with it and bought nothing new, trouble is I have a habit of sending off for lots of free samples and they all seem to be toiletry based. I do save the sachets though, to slip in with birthdays cards so it isn't exactly for me, is it? ;)

    My 5...

    1. A long lie-in. the furpets let me sleep til almost 9am!

    2. A good day food-wise, toast spread with low fat yogurt and a hint of marmalade for brekkie, pasta twists with a little plain bol sauce and a sniff of grated cheese, and a banana for lunch, and a bowl of cereal for tea. Unfortunately I undid all my good work by having a bag of crisps just now :o. I think I'll have to go to SW, I went many moons ago and did well so I'll find out if there's one reasonably nearby.

    3. The bm made a lovely 1/2 and 1/2 loaf, which I prefer to all brown or all white

    4. Rain stopped play, or work, in the garden so I had a super day watching Buds of May - no blood, guns or violence, I'm always sorry when it finishes so a whole day of it was heaven :D

    5. Went out for a very sociable couple of hours this evening with friends.

    6. Had a nice long chat on the phone with future DDiL , decided to take the DGC's sleeping bags on our holiday rather than mess about with sheets - with 4 children and me we'd be making beds all day and we want to have fun!

    7. Just remembered I have a man coming at 9.30 in the morning to quote for levelling the area where the new shed will go, fingers crossed it won't cost more than the shed . Better turn off the lamp and go to sleep...

    Night night, sweet dreams
