    Welcome, sunbat!

CCP, please keep us posted on how your course goes. I'd love to study archaeology.

Niksyg, how is Boodle Pup doing? Please give him a kiss and a cuddle from his Auntie Savingforoz.

    My 5 for yesterday:

    1. Finishing work at 2pm to go and visit two of my favourite clients. OK, it was still work, but it didn't feel like it. :D

    2. New season NCIS and The Mentalist on TV.

    3. Getting a text from my work colleague who has just become a new mum, saying that she's now up to receiving visitors, so I'm planning a visit.

    4. Doing my monthly grocery shop and coming in just about bang on budget.

    5. Phone call with my brother, who's taking me out for a belated birthday curry next week. It's a local Bengalese restaurant, and has been highly recommended by a friend. I love food :D.
Life is not a dress rehearsal.

Was this the round one with creme patiserie? It is the one thing I have to bring back from Rouen every year when we go there on holiday... the Asda one wasn't bad but sadly lacked the yummy sticky white icing on top which adds the perfect amount of moisture to the brioche... didn't stop me from scoffing a whole one to myself though!!

Hi LH, yes it was the round one. Not much creme tho! And no icing. it was different. cross between a loaf and a cake! Went well with a cuppa.

    Morning all,

    1. Realising we're not as short on food supplies as I thought.
    2. Hearing the birds this morning, they were really noisey! In a good way.
    3. Seeing more blossom and leaves on trees, giving some privacy back to the garden.
    4. Using up a rubbish hand cream as body cream as part of toiletries challenge. Previously would have left it gathering dust now it's singled out and used up!
    5. Giving a money off voucher (legoland etc) to a family and being greeted with a warm thank you.

    :A
:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

Bodie is doing well thanks - he came with us to the car boot this morning and got soooo much fuss and attention! It was a great opportunity for us to take him out and about and get socialised.... He was very good, just wish he was like that at 3am instead of howling like a banshee!!!

CCP - Good luck with your OU course. I did some Arts/history courses with them a few years ago and really enjoyed it, I would love to try an archaeology course though. Nuttybabe - I went away on a summer school with OU and what you said about your dad made me :rotfl:. I was young and naive at the time and was quite shocked by all the *ahem* room swapping going on, within a group of married older people!:rotfl:

Jexy - I love your poem, it made me smile.

Here are my OS pleasures for yesterday:
    - Last of my washing done, so I have an empty laundry basket which doesn't happen very often.
    - HM fish pie for tea with a made up recipe from my head! It worked well though.
    - Free tube of hand cream in the post for product testing.
    - It's a friday and bank holiday weekend too, wohoo!
    - My lettuces are growing at an incredible rate.

    For today:
    - Allinsons Flour sent me a bread recipe book, will have a gander through that later.
    - Out to the shops bright and early while the sun was still shining. DH bought some 2nd hand books for holiday and I got lots of fruit and veg from the grocers to last us the weekend. Went to the butchers and got some meaty beef flat ribs £4.99 per kilo, which I haven't cooked before but I am going to try Slow cooking them on monday.
    - Free balloons were being given away at the shops for DD.
    - A lovely waggy tail greeting on our return home from our doggy.
    - Curled up on the sofa with my laptop at the mo, but intend to change into some comfy clothes, read my book and play with DD later.

Have a great bank holiday everyone!

Ok, here are my five for today:

    1) Getting the ironing done. OK, so there are a few bits still drying that I need to do, but the majority of it is done and put away.
    2) Getting 3 loads of washing done (and some consequently dried, ironed and put away)
    3) Tidying the house - including dusting and hoovering.
    4) It being a nice day and having the windows open.
    5) Getting some more meals planned for next week.

I'll write a longer update tomorrow as I'm feeling the need to clean something again! Take care, everyone.

    Kitchenbunny xx

Hi all, hugs to all who need or want them.....

Just managed to hit f5 by mistake and the page refreshed and I lost all my post :(

    Anyway....

    1. Getting 3 growbags for a fiver from the garden center ready to plant out my french bean plants and my tomato plants.

    2. Getting a box of broken biccies from mum's milkman - not necessarily a great bargain but always seems more exciting somehow!

    3. Being given a box of choccies ;)

    4. Seeing my rose having lots of buds, as well as the campanula and the "Alan Fradd" rock rose. Only planted the garden last year and this is the first time the Alan Fradd will have flowered.

    5. Having a freezer full of food.

    6. Managing to keep it together emotionally.... been a stressful year with health and job loss, and now coming up to the anniversary of my dad's death. So I'm quite impressed I haven't cracked up so far - the homeopathy must be working!

    Hello Everyone

Sparrer - luckily mine are still young enough think its great even when it is just a blob of mash with sausage stuck out of it!!!! :D

Mollythewestie - i think my dad was shocked as well!!!! And he still hasnt lived it down!!! :p

Jexy - your poem is brilliant. :D

    Mine for today

1 Taking my friend to tesco to get the cheap beer (stashed away for next caravan holiday) and got a pack of 34 finish powerball for 87p! Infact I got 5 so well stocked up on dishwasher tabs.

2 Kids tidied their rooms after they played. I did encourage them by taking up a bin bag and threatening to chuck out everything on the floor!!!! It worked! :rotfl:

3 Cleaned the kitchen, bathroom, dinning room and living room.

4 Cooked a fruit loaf and had a slice with a cup of tea after all the cleaning.

5 Sun came out so kids played outside and tidied up without me making them!!! :D

    Have a good evening everyone.

    Hi All,

OFSTED has gone :D and I have just finished reading everyones posts up to date! Thank goodness everything is back to normal. :) Phew!

Did I mention OFSTED has gone? We passed and I didn't let the team down. I was observed twice  but got 'good' both times and was mentioned in the inspectors feedback for my 'creativity'! :rotfl:

Missed you all, but particularly have to mention .........Nuttybabe - we still have 'Milenium Dome' bangers and mash in our house even though it's been the O2 for years now! James T Kirk - Ahem ....DS2 is Called James and his middle initial is T in tribute to our hero :o

Quick 5 as I need to go and make dinner for about 11 people:eek:

    1. OFSTED have gone!
    2. DD's synchro team competed in the British Championships yesterday. Didn't win, but v proud. :A
    3. DS2 said he thought we were a very happy family. Always laughing.:rotfl:
    4. DS2 bought a hamster with his pocket money and it is soooo cute.
    5. Got 6 X £10 deal at M&S today plus some coffee. Extra discounts for 6 bottles of wine and 3 for 2 frozen deserts. Even the SA was impressed with the amount of savings. Then paid with £30 of vouchers from a $KY deal so total was £26 in real money!:j Also did the veg shopping at Lidle with the £5 off £30 voucher. :j

Have a lovely evening. HE x

thanks. he is on the mend. he seems to take a while to get over stuff! probably cos he eats no fruit or veg!!! :p

that sounds really interesting. is that like what bones does on bones?? (how stupid do i sound now!!!)

my dad did ou courses on history of art. he loved it. think it all fizzled out when he went away for a course and phoned my mum late at night saying one of the women on his course kissed him!!!! bless him, he didnt know what to do!!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl:

I confess I had to look that up - I watch so little TV I didn't really know what you were talking about. :o I think it's something similar, although looking at things from rather longer ago - anything recent enough to be murder is the police's business rather than archaeologists'. It's more like the TV series Time Team, if you've ever seen that?

And your poor dad - no wonder he was shocked! I don't remember that sort of thing happening on the course I went away for, but perhaps I just didn't notice. ;)

    wogglemaker,sparrer and Margaret54 - I hope you're all feeling OK today.

jex - thanks for your poem. Your posts always make me smile. :)

newlywed - that's  about your first post. My cat likes to walk across the computer keyboard occasionally (I think he likes the beeping noise the computer makes in protest), and has an uncanny knack of treading on the F5 key, with predictable results. I don't know how he does it!

ETA (As you posted at the same time I did) - house elf - well done on the Ofsted result, and well done on your M&S bargains - that's a seriously impressive saving.

I got my comeuppance for being rather un-OS at lunchtime today: I decided to 'treat' myself to lunch out and the chicken salad I chose was very expensive (it didn't come with bread and, when I asked for a slice to go with it, they charged me a pound for the privilege, on top of the extortionate fee for a plate of cheap lettuce ) and came covered in cheap mayonnaise so it wasn't very healthy or very nice. Serves me right, I suppose!

Anyway, five nice things (not including salads) for today:

    1) Lie-in this morning.

    2) Nice walk by the canal, with the rain coming down just hard enough to damp down the pollen but not so hard it was unpleasantly soggy.

    3) A lovely cuddle with an angler's jack russell that took a liking to me. (Which is why my friends call me The Dog Magnet. :o)

    4) My good deed for the day - telling station staff that there were chickens wandering over the train line. I thought I might get some odd looks for mentioning it but I knew I wouldn't be able to look jex and her fellow chicken-keepers in the eye if I didn't say something. Luckily the person I spoke to was sympathetic and promised to pass on the message asap in the hope that someone would mount a rescue mission before the wandering chickens got hurt.

    5) Courgette and bacon lasagne for dinner. It's a made-up recipe so I don't know how well it will turn out - I tried a bit of the courgette filling while layering up the lasagne, though, and it tasted very promising indeed. :)

    Have a lovely evening, everyone.
Back after a very long break!
