CCP - what course are you doing?
I'm doing a science short course, about archaeology. All the other courses I've done have been arts-based (mostly history and languages), so this will be something completely different. I'm consoling myself that it doesn't count towards my degree so it doesn't really matter if I make a mess of it.
I'm glad to hear your DH is feeling better, BTW.
Ladyhawk - I know exactly what you mean about things feeling like ages and no time at all. Someone asked me a few days ago how long I'd lived in Portsmouth, and I was shocked to discover it's been six and a half years, but it feels so much like home it's also like I've always lived here. Odd, isn't it?
newlywed - WD on your interview, even if this one wasn't for you. The right job will turn up soon - it's waiting out there for you somewhere.Back after a very long break!0 -

Kitchenbunny wrote: »Blimus - it's really one of those "Guess and Go" recipes.
I got one of those Value bags of sweet potatoes from Mr M (there were 4 small ones), 3 red peppers, chopped, a carton of passata (again Mr M Value), a clove of garlic and some chicken stock - that's it. I let it cook on low for 5-6 hours until the sweet potato cubes went all nice and squishy. As my Mum wanted a bit, I filled a small tub with hers as she didn't want it blended. I blended the rest of mine (purely what I prefer) and it has made about 6 portions
Thanks so much for this kitchenbunny - it'll go on my 'things to do' list for next week.
Just popped in to add another pleasure for today:
Just spent a fab evening with DS2's beavers group at Felbrigg Hall where they have kindly been given a vegetable patch. It's the most beautiful walled garden. It was so enjoyable planting some veg with the beavers with some very kind help from the head gardener at Felbrigg.
Also wanted to say 'hi' and welcome to sunbat :hello:
and to newlywed sorry to hear that your interview wasn't so great.DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt

Mine for today:
1. Picked mum up and took her to Morries to do her grocery shopping.
2. Came home and made a massive pile of north staffs oatcakes.
3. Cut up and dehydrated 3 kilos of bananas and 2kg papaya.
4. My son and me have just but holes in 11 empty papaya tins that i am going to use for planting.
5. Went to collect a parcel from the post office, turns out it was two free bottles of tomoto plant liquid/feed. Yipee for freebies!Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200
NSD Challenge: October 0/140 -
Emm-in-a-pickle and Jexy - thank you for the "back" advice! I have brought the cordless phone up here to the laptop and am about to phone my sister and read your messages out!
CCP - I did Archaeology, many moons ago. Sad to say I haven't really used it since. Mine wasn't science based though - sounds good.
5 for today:
1) Went to mum and dad's this morning and Dad got some twigs from the wood so I have something for my sweet peas to grow up. Also stopped for a sandwich.
2) Got the house in order.
3) Little son's class have been doing the Katie Morag books and he went dressed up as one of the "big boy cousins" :-)
4) Had quite a nice tea of left over chicken with pasta, brocolli and cheese sauce.
5) Little son went to Beavers with no fuss.
6) Bigger son and I decided to go for a walk while he was in there. We live on the edge of the Wyre Forest so often see deer but, in someone's orchard, we saw a group of 19! On our way back we saw a fox then had a look in the same orchard again and saw 4 deer plus 2 fauns.

thanks. he is on the mend. he seems to take a while to get over stuff! probably cos he eats no fruit or veg!!!
that sounds really interesting. is that like what bones does on bones?? (how stupid do i sound now!!!)
my dad did ou courses on history of art. he loved it. think it all fizzled out when he went away for a course and phoned my mum late at night saying one of the women on his course kissed him!!!! bless him, he didnt know what to do!!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl:0 -
Thank you once again for your lovely thought and kind wishes. Ex OH is improving, tests done sooner than expected show his stomach 'infection' wass the result of all the meds he's has since being in hosp. He's not one for taking anything so obviously his body was rebelling a bit. I'm okay, my chest thingy was self inflicted and now I have to live with the results...or in fact it has to live with me, I'm not giving in to it
Jex and CCP I don't have a sweet tooth either, cheese is my downfall. Hard, cream, stinky, almost any really (except soapy stuff like the one with the red rind, yuk)...if I don't get cheese every day I get withdrawal symptoms!
Congrats to your DD on passing her exam :T, and belated ones to you on your birthday Kittikins. It's a little late but never too late for a piece of :bdaycake:is it?
newlywed bad luck about the job, though on the other hand it wasn't such a good one anyway. The right one will come along when you're least expecting it. Keeping everything x'd for you
Many congrats _party_ on your 10th anniversary Ladyhawk, hope you're planning to stay a lot longer
I tried to come up with ideas for food when my DC were small nuttybabe, I once made a horses head (sort of, not very artistic) and they refused to eat it, said it was cruel! And they've never let me forget it, lol
What a super gift Blimus, the beavers will learn so much from planting and growing, and hopefully there are some keen gardeners in the making
Your walk sounds beautiful ACEY, what a delight to see such lovely animals in their own environment (well, someones orchard) instead of herded in a park
My 5
1. Sadly didn't make the end of the month as some unexpected expenses came up  but I do still have £70 to split 3 ways between the shed fund, the Summer holiday with the DGC and the emergency fund, so all is not lost
2. Got a line of towels, bath mat etc., dry before the showers
3. Had a big salad for lunch and a veggie roast for dinner, very little fat in any of it so perhaps I'll lose a pound or two. I really need to lose 2 1/2 stone  but it's a start and hopefully my breathing will improve. At 5 feet nothing any extra weight shows and today I look just like this.... :rotfl:....roly poly ball!
4. Had a good clean up in the kitchen, now everything is in its place and the room looks so much better
5. A leaflet through the door from a local coach company with some nice day trips to houses, gardens, attractions etc which would be cheaper than taking the car and buying my own entrance ticket etc. I think I might treat myself to a couple over the next few months
Night night, sleep tight
