Blimus - fishfingers and custard?! I'll pass, thanks - your pasta and nettle pesto sounds much tastier to me. :)

Shadowsfall - it's nice to see you back - I'd been wondering where you'd got to! :)

emilyka - I get my box from Abel & Cole. I'm not sure how their prices compare now - when I started buying from them a couple of years ago they were fairly similar to the main supermarkets if you bought a selection box, but rather more expensive if you bought individual bits. In contrast to most of my local supermarkets, though, the quality of A&C's produce is very good - I started getting a veg box as I was fed up with throwing away more than I got to eat. Now I do my shopping in Waitrose it's not so much of a problem, but I keep getting the box because I can't give up on my weekly surprise present. :)

sparrer - best wishes to your exOH and your friend in China, and to you as well - I hope you all feel better very soon.

ACEY - I hope your sister's OK and her worries turn out to be unfounded. And - ooh, Playmobile! That was my favourite toy when I was ickle. :D

Jex - damn you, talking about sausage rolls - like you, I don't have much of a sweet tooth, and sausage rolls are a favourite of mine, too. I Am On A Diet - I Do Not Want Sausage Rolls. I Am On A Diet - I Do Not Want Sausage Rolls. I Am On A Diet - I Do Not Want Sausage Rolls.

    I'm not sure I'm convincing myself... :o:(;)

Jexy - I want to come and stay at your hotel, your food sounds amazing (well the vegetarian/cakey bits do :):))

Welcome back Shadowsfall, lovely to see you back.

    Get well soon sparrer xx

    1. Working at home today, my back is sore so I'm a bit scared to move off the sofa, lol, but the pleasure is that I can work from home any time I need to.

    2. DD's second tooth came out yesterday, she was sooooo excited to have evidence of the tooth fairy's visit, another shiny golden coin for her Di$ney fund :)

    3. She also got a certificate at school, so we're very proud of that.

    4. Payday today and my pay rise has reached me, an extra £26 a month, yay.

    5. In a couple of hours I'll find out whether DD passed her tap exam and we will celebrate/ignore it as appropriate, I've not told her but am nervously hopeful, I think she's a natural, it's just whether 'Madame' did too.

    6. Postcards from my parents' holiday have arrived, DD will be very excited to read them :)

    7. I found my MOT certificate yesterday so am one step closer to spending a fortune on a newer car, and "saved" myself £10 on getting it reprinted.

    8. Going out for my birthday evening out tonight, DD's on a sleepover so if wine beckons I'll come running :)

Update: Yay, DD passed her first tap dance exam, what a clever little cookie, my little Ginger Rogers (quite apt as she is a gorgeous redhead :):):)

Blimus - it's really one of those "Guess and Go" recipes. :) I got one of those Value bags of sweet potatoes from Mr M (there were 4 small ones), 3 red peppers, chopped, a carton of passata (again Mr M Value), a clove of garlic and some chicken stock - that's it. I let it cook on low for 5-6 hours until the sweet potato cubes went all nice and squishy. As my Mum wanted a bit, I filled a small tub with hers as she didn't want it blended. I blended the rest of mine (purely what I prefer) and it has made about 6 portions :D

Didn't manage to get any Pilates done today as I fell asleep just after lunch and when I tried on waking I nearly fell asleep again while trying so I've decided not to do it today. I shall try again tomorrow. :) It is harder than it looks, but the results are good. I too tried aerobics, step, running, boxing, yoga, etc, but prefer Pilates.

My other five pleasures for today:

    1) Making that pasta sauce and having a gorgeous smelling kitchen.
    2) Finally sorting out the fridge and getting rid of the ends of bread by blitzing them to crumbs - now in the freezer to make stuffing with.
    3) Watching cooking programmes on TV.
    4) A nice hot bath and feeling clean.
    5) Curry and a film tonight!

Quite hoping for a night without coughing tonight - judging by what's happened so far today that isn't going to happen :s I live in hope. Have a good evening, everyone.

    Kitchenbunny xx

    Afternoon all.

Here's my five for today, a bit earlier than usual:

    1) Another fine, sunny day (although, rather selfishly, I would prefer a bit of rain to damp down all the pollen - I'm fed up with itchy eyes :().

    2) Lovely upside-down greeting from my cat when I got home - I keep telling him the legs are supposed to be underneath the cat, not on top! :)

    3) My mystery bulbs have got buds on so I can finally identify them - they're trilliums, which I've wanted for ages. :j

    4) Redeemed £20 of vouchers for completing surveys, I've got another £20 worth to redeem when I want them, and £30 worth on Toluna (which probably don't count as it doesn't look like I'm ever going to get them - I knew that was a risk when I signed up, though, so I can't really complain).

    5) Received confirmation that I'm booked on my Open University course, starting next month. It's a subject I've never done before, so gulp! Wish me luck!

And a very naughty 6: I've got a bottle of white wine chilling in the fridge, so I'll treat myself to a glass later. What diet? ;):o

    Have a lovely evening, everyone.

ETA - welcome, sunbat! :hello:And WD to your DS2 for his sticker for spelling. :T

    sunbat welcome!

    My five:
    1) breakfast in bed courtesy dp
    2) cuddles from dd this morning, despite her finally falling asleep at 11:30 last night
    3) another free lunch, and chat with colleagues
    4) Curry_Queen curry using the TRS spices from Tesco's, I'm amazed you can get a 400g pack for £1.78(!) and so much fresher than the tiny jars
    5) looking forward to Russell Howards Good News on Sky+

Hi all, interview went ok but lets say it's another one to put down to interview experience :(
A much more complex job, asking 40 hours a week and unpaid overtime, and initially paying the same as the last one :( On top of that, it's a bus and a train ride away and will take about an hour and a half if OH has the car some days. Oh well.

    here's mine:

    1. Our new car is nice - finally got to drive it since OH has been hogging it ;)
    2. The stereo is good.
    3. Another interview experience - getting slightly less nervous now.
    4. Picked up a few sainsbug deals on the way back.
    5. erm.... well maybe think of more later :o

    Evening all,

    :wave:Welcome Sunbat!

Newlywed - Sorry to hear that this one wasn't suitable... better luck next time

I have had an irritating day... which started off with the boss calling me at 8am to have a moan at me. Basically he didn't know where I was on Wednesday (at a conference that he signed off) - not that he bothered to call me on my mobile to find out where I was. He also moaned because I hadn't told him about some work that his boss had given me to do... well if we ever had 121's he would have known...... silly man!

    1) The lemon cake that I made last night was very well recieved by the gannets I work with... there is another lady in the office who also does quite a bit of baking and we ALWAYS seem to bring stuff in on the same days. It's so irritating since all her stuff always looks nicer than mine... though mine taste nicer... even if I do say so myself!

    2) Went for a wander at lunch time - got caught in a downpour... but it was just nice to be out of the office.

    3) ITS A BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND :j:dance::T

    4) The book that I ordered through the local library has arrived - I had to pop in tomorrow anyway so that's really good.

    5) I bought two little tomato plants on my wander into town...

    Have a lovely evening

    L

Oh and I forgot to add... today is my 10 year anniversary of moving to the UK... I can't believe that it has only been than long... but it also feel just like yesterday that I arrived!
    Man plans and God laughs...
Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.
