Hi there everyone - hugs for those that need them!! My 5 for today:

    - having my youngest at home with me today (he'll be in School in September, so time is precious) despite him being sick last night.
    - finally finding the anti nit solution in the chemist. Youngest believes in sharing with his playschool mates - ugh!
    - the relief in showering it off knowing that I now have clean hair!!
    - grabbing 10 mins to myself to have a bath this morning!
    - and hoping that it rains so that the grass seed finally starts growing instead of providing food for the birds!
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

    4. My daft birthday present from one of my friends - a mouse mat with Captain Kirk on it. I made the mistake of telling her once that when I was a hormonally challenged teenager, I had a crush on Captain Kirk  (I know!! I know!!). It's been a source of much teasing ever since. Mind you, she can't talk - she had a crush on Magnum P.I.!!

Whaddya mean??? Magnum PI was a STUD! :blushing:

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

Good afternoon all. Here are my five for yesterday

Got some ultra cheap woopsies at mr T's 5k spuds 15p 2 x fresh parsley 8p that goes well with the reduced fish in the freezer for dads fish pies

DD brought some rhubarb home from town
Made a good start with my batch cook, but lungs ran out of puff SO
Hubby helped with the second half of the batch cook

We now have in the freezer 6 chicken pies, 8 beef in ale pies, 6 sausagemeat slices, 1 rhubarb & ginger pie ( the other got eaten for tea and was lovely)

Made my first attempt at fritters (pork apple & sage) with apple & sage dip, they needed a bit more umph hence the impromptu dip but the rest are now in the freezer.

enjoyed a quiet glass of wine while listening to classic FM and finishing another square of my crochet blanket.

    Hugs all round

Hi all, sorry to have been missing.... been at a wedding.

Anyway the interview - it was ok. Sounded like a nice company to work for, but only paying 13k for full time :( Did let on it was less than I'd hoped but I was interested anyway - and got an email saying I'm not through to second interviews. Ho hum.

But whilst at a wedding, got a phone call about another job. So got another interview tomorrow. Place is a bit of a pain to get to without a car though (OH needs the car if he has work as he's self employed), so we'll see :o

At least I'm getting a few responses though.

    some from me:

    1. Our newer car making a 300 mile round trip without issues.
    2. Having another interview lined up - at least it means my cv looks ok.
    3. Getting £50 scrap money for our old car.
    4. Seeing friends looking so happy on their wedding day and making some new friends too.
    5. The hotel we booked being much nicer than expected.
    6. The all you can eat breakfast meaning a skipped lunch!
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?

I think it was 2 oz plain flour, 2oz cornflour, 1 egg, mean cup of milk, salt and pepper. whisk all togeather and thats the batter sorted.

2 medium taters (cooked & mashed), left over pork from roast joint (chopped), 2 eating apples peeled & chopped, fresh sage from garden chopped. Mix all into the batter mix.

Heat a deepish quantity of oil in deep sided fry pan and drop spoons full of mix in to the oil and fry till cooked. I used a deep fat fryer ,cause it's easier to regulate the temperature.

Sorry the quantities are a bit vague, I was just experimenting to use up the pork.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    Evening all.

I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself this evening - a combination of hayfever and a couple of meanie colleagues discussing sausage recipes and how to make bubble n squeak - they know I'm on a diet so that's just not fair! :(;)

I will try and find five pleasures, though:

    1) I bravely (or foolishly) left my washing out on the line all day, and it didn't get rained on and is nearly dry.

    2) NSD

    3) Got my weekly fruit and veg delivery, which I love getting - it's like getting a weekly surprise present, as I never know exactly what's going to be in there.

    4) Stewed pears and mixed dried berries for pudding tonight - yummy, and the last of the pears. :j

    5) Got the recipe for oatmeal and raisin cookies from my colleague. I won't be able to have them for a while, of course, but it's nice to know the recipe's there when I want it.

newlywed - WD for getting another interview, and good luck.

Tealady - glad you had a nice birthday. :)
Back after a very long break!
