I enjoyed DD's link! Someone had a lot of time on their hands, all the detail was there.
How good of them to have thought of supplying an adult penguin....Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
the penguin statues on the other hand are real, and often dressed for the occasion. http://dundee.stv.tv/articles/1324382-22-times-the-dundee-penguins-had-more-style-than-most/
1) such a lovely long lie in then a nice chat with xoh on the phone. i think we get on much better with a few hundred miles between us
2) scrummy left overs lunch - onion, crunchy salad best before 30th, rice, garlic, Worcestershire sauce and spices
3) then walked dogs and Minnie (the shopper) to work (30 min walk, very good for knee) to pick up a parcel. it's my hygge box from an american i was paired with in the latest hygge box swap and had arrived earlier this week, but work has been too hectic to pick the parcel up!
4) made a cup of tea in my travel mug and sat in the arboretum near work while the dogs rootled around. bliss.
5) mr piano made risotto while i dyed my hair. risotto very yummy, hair very purpleMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

3. Lovely sunshine.
4. Arrived in daylight due to clocks changing.

Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Had a proper tidy up including window sills, changed beds, did tonnes of washing etc.
3) Went geocaching in the afternoon.
4) Brother came round for tea.
5) Did ironing.
6) About to watch Casualty.0 -
Dundeedoll - my sister and I also get on so much better since she moved to France last year!
Savturdays Pleasures
1. No food waste at all last week - the chickens felt very deprived:)
2. A pair of bullfinches on the bird feeders. A very rare sighting here, and so beautifully coloured.
3. After a long, long plateau a small weight loss is evident today after two weeks back on the cardio friendly diet - though I suppose it could be because we have new bathroom scales :rotfl:
4. The 1930s-1950 cookery book collection are really helping the production of low fat, low sugar meals, and being fully used. Though there are some things we won't be trying again
5. Watching the poor ginger ninja trying to cope with a friends 3 month old Maltese terrier (looks just like a moving mop head) using him as a climbing frame. Offended didnity in the flesh, but very, very patient.0 -
That funny time when the clocks have changed and it feels like it's almost bedtime but it's not really! ( also similar for the dog and his diinner tonight...Took up his spot in the kitchen at his normal time...regardless of what the clock says! )
Nice chat with friend from home this morning and then just as I was thinking I needed to text friend in Sydney she called , so had a nice chat with her this afternoon.
Beautiful dog walk first thing, cool, sun just up, damp, autumnal , just me and my dog.
Downstairs all hoovered.
Bathrooms cleaned
Easter decorations put out. Memory tree is now a memory / easter tree!
Washing out and almost dried, ironed and on clothes horse. Now getting to that stage where it probably won't dry thoroughly.
Did a bit of weeding at veggie patch. Will try and do a bit each day this coming week . ( trying to avoid slightly odd next door neighbour , who's back door is at our veg patch)
Made a very tasty tea of mince pie ( with LOVE in pastry letters!) , mashed potatoes, cauliflower, snow peas, carrots and red cabbage. Also made a cottage pie that can go in freezer for another nights dinner.
DD2 was at work, just walked up with dog to meet her at train station...dark at just after 6.30pm, the moon looking like the man in the moon . surprised a possum ...or maybe the other way round! The smell of someone's log burning fire on.
Today's cosy clothing included wooly tights! And a cardigan and a gilet!
Have a lovely day0 -

1) Hearing a yellowhammer calling on the common with his 'A little bit of bread and no chee-eeese' call.
2) Horse chestnut trees have put out fresh leaves and already are showing flower spikes growing on.
3) My neighbours silver birches which overnight have put on filigree green lace all over.
4) Bronze green baby oak leaves in Greenaway Lane, they are the best colour.
5) Apple blossom in profusion on the crab apple trees along the footpath and one single bright green Beech Tree that is covered in leaf and ALWAYS is a month earlier than the other 8 in that row, one of natures mysteries!
I THINK IT'S SPRINGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!0 -
