    Happy Birthday savingforoz :bdaycake:
I'm feeling very positive today, making steps to sort out my life :D

My five for the day are:
-Quiting smoking- first day of taking Zyban, hopefully the first step to prevent me from spending £5+ a day on cigarettes :j
-taking home the glass dowe egberts coffee jars from work (sure I can store some kind of food stuff in them!)
-Due to aforementioned Zyban, no/ limited alcohol for me for 12 weeks, this means money saving and generally feeling much healthier!
-Sort out next months budget (not leaving an allowance for naughty cigarettes :p)
-Bulk cook beef mince, make two cottage pies, spaghetti bolognaise and a chilli

Hope everyone is happy on this not so sunny Monday!

    Morning all!

Here are mine for the weekend:
    Saturday
    - losing 2lbs in weight!
    - Visiting Asda baby event and stocking up on nappies and baby bits and bobs. Also, took advantage of the tray of 4 chicken breasts for £3 offer :money:.
    - Playing with my new phone. An early birthday present as my old phone was pretty old and the battery has been replaced more times than I can remember! At least now I have a realiable phone that doesn't have to be on charge 24/7.
    - Dh not going out as planned with friends, it was nice to have him home for the evening and we caught up with Ashes to Ashes on sky+.
    - Managed to stick to the diet on a saturday, which is always a struggle.

    Sunday
    - Planting some new plants in my hanging wall basket and some lettuces on my window sill
    - Roast lamb for dinner (cooked by me) with lovely potato rosti's (cooked by DH) and veg.
    - Reading a newspaper. It's been a long time since I have had time to read one.
    - Finally ordering DD's car seat and finding it on offer saving us over £50! We very nearly bought the same car seat in store at full price a few weeks ago, but decided to shop around first - so glad we did!
    - After speaking to my neighbour, finding out I was not seeing things, and DID see two ducks perched ontop of the 3 story building by our houses. Apparently they sit there for a few days every spring and have done for years! On a sad note, another neighbours new 3 cats have seen off the nesting blackbird in neighbours tree. :(

Edited to add: emilyka - Good luck to you, my parents have just celebrated one year of no smoking after a 20+ a day habit for more than 40 years! They gave up with the help of patches and a nicotine stick supplied by their GP, they haven't had one cigarette since and feel far healthier (and richer!) for it.

mollythewestie are you on the lab forum???

I have had a brilliant weekend visiting my best friend up in Shropshire - loads of pleasures but here are my top 5 -

    1) Seeing my best friend for a whole 2 days!
    2) Knowing that Bodie pup is super happy playing with her dogs.
    3) Sitting in a hot tub with a chilled beer or 3!
    4) Popping in to see mum on the way back from Shropshire.
    5) Having yummy bangers and mash for tea yesterday.

Hope you are all having a good monday!

Didn't do yesterday's 5, so will try to do it in retrospect, then today's!

    Sunday

    1. Several bumble bees in the pear tree.

    2. Finished reading my book ("The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo"). Not that well written, but certainly very gripping!

    3. Did some tidying of the front garden, and got DH to help chop up lavender prunings to go in the council's paper sack - not much done, but it was good that he felt he was doing something useful.

    4. Made a lovely cauliflower cheese with chopped walnuts in the sauce.

    5. Got washing pegged out on the line, and within 15mins the heavens opened and it poured with rain. BUT, the weather brightened up, and things were almost dry by the end of the afternoon. (And, the heavy rain washed the dust off my car which I'd been meaning to get a bucket and sponge to!)

    Today

    1. Bright and sunny day again.

    2. Called in to DD4 for coffee (once DH had gone to day centre) and had a nice natter. Bonus was that the children (10 and 9) were there, off school with an inset day. Enjoyed hearing how DGS enjoyed his W/E camping with Woodcraft Folk - and about the consequent colour of his bathwater! Still appreciate living so near (15 mins walk away)- they moved here a year and a half before we did, and it's the 1st time we've lived so close to any of them. (And DS moved from London to about 12 miles from here a couple of years ago - feel so lucky about that).

    3. Took a big sack of lavender clippings to the tip - my car smelt gorgeous!

    4. Looking forward to going to stay with best friends tomorrow. Especially precious as he had a massive heart attack a few months ago, and is now doing really well (and is 2.5 stones lighter!)

    5. Watched a male blackbird on our lawn with a beak full of worms pulling up yet another one! Our cat sat in the window and suddenly got very excited, doing that jaw-trembling thing that they do!
Keeping two cats and myself on a small budget, and enjoying life while we're at it!

jexy - I know you weren't asking me, but broom is a plant - it looks something like a gorse bush without the spines, and has the most gorgeous scented flowers. It's called broom because people used to use the thin branches to make brooms out of, so your witch's broom image wasn't far off. :)

Thank you CCP :) for answering Jexy's question. Sorry Jex, I should be more attentive :o. The one in bloom has the most beautiful deep purple red flowers the other will, hopefully, be orange yellow.

Ahh, I see, not me I am afraid! One Westie is enough for us at the mo, although we hope to have more dogs in the future and would love a labrador, they are adorable!
