    Good evening everyone

Jexy - he has to have some uses. the kids might clean up after themselves (sometimes) but he certainly doesnt!! :p

Sparrer - the downstairs still stank of onion chutney this morning. the smell has put me off tasting it!!! :rotfl:thankfully the rain stopped so i could open doors to get rid of it!

For some reason i havent been feeling right for the last few days, i am hoping its because of being a bit ill but been feeling really down and just cant shake it which isnt like me. dh thinks i am annoyingly happy especially at xmas so must be a nice break for him!!

Anyhoo, mine for today (I am determined to still find 5)

1 My home made cinnamon loaf for breakfast.

2 hoovered downstairs and cleaned kitchen. and moved the fishtank into the living room so we can actually see the fish now.

3 ds1 so excited when we let him pick a fish. he chose the one that looked like a dragon!!!

4 Kids had a picnic and played outside

5 having time to read this board for a few hours this afternoon. although i am shocked at the way people have behaved!!

Thats all for me. Have a good evening.

Caterina, hope you feel better soon x

Kittikins, thank you - I am like a little girl with my birthday. The celebrations started yesterday and will continue until Wednesday :D. I will be out for a curry on Tuesday, so I'll think of you when I'm celebrating that evening!

    My 5 for today:

    1. Lunch with a friend in Wetherspoons - had their very good value roast lunch.

    2. Good session at the gym - tried the Vibroplate machine - don't think I'll rush back to that one! I prefer the weights machines.

    3. Unleashing my domestic goddess and making lentil pate, which did very nicely for tea with pitta bread, and will serve as lunch during the week.

    4. Cuddles with Fudge Foster Cat. Such a sweetie. I won't be popular tomorrow though, as she is going to the vet to have her knotted fur sorted via the clippers.

    5. Catching up with new season "The Mentalist" in the evening.

Oooh, so looking forward to my birthday :D. It's the last one before one of those whopping big milestone birthdays...
Life is not a dress rehearsal.

Here are my OS thrills today!
1.) Making £12.42 from a second hand clothing place which adds to the £38.42 from the other day, and makes more room in the attic.
2.) My hubby making a lovely roast dinner, and children actually eating it!
3.) Thunder storms and heavy rain, while snuggled up inside.
4.) Having a half price bottle of wine with my OH on the sofa watching Top Gear.
5.) Hearing my 3 little boys( and sausage dog!) snoring peacefully in their beds!

Sept. grocery challenge = £500 (221.60 so far!;))

Evening all, I am soooo sad... I just read penpens post, and I feel so upset for her. OS boards are a lovely supportive place to be, and some people have just really upset her to the point of her resigning, how can that be OS? She is awesome as are all of our BGs. Without them, we would not have a board. Sometimes I wonder what the world is coming to.
Anyhow, to the task in hand :)

Sparrer, forgive my ignorance and giggles, but you planted brooms? I now have a field of witches broomsticks in my mind! What are they? Hope the Carboot resulted in booty :D and that you didnt spend more than you took!
Ladyhawk I LOVE samples from suppliers :D Quick question, why Eamon? :D And Oooooo fresh sheets.... bestest pleasure!
Mineallmine - Thank you for your support :) I am not sure which pleasure I am jealous of most, the grass or hot toddy! Hmm 2nd thoughts, alcohol wins every time :D
Jennyjewell your pleasures are the epitomy of OS and I loved them :)
Girly you let me down! Cuddles with DD is always your number 2 and it wasnt on sunday! Outdone by a chocolate croissant! Im telling her!!!! (I hope you know im teasing :)
CCP sounds like a lovely day :) The one tomato plant that germinated for me out of about 5000! has RIP... I am so bad at this growing thing, unless you want neeps!
Tho that is the strain not my green or actually, an off shade of green fingers it seems!
Newlywed, break a leg on tuesday - remember, each interview for a job you dont get, is one closer to the one you will get. Everything for a reason, if you dont get it, its because there is a better one waiting just for you. Knock em dead :)
Caterina we did miss you, but seeing as you sent a note, you are excused :D Have a fab time in Italy, rest up so you are well to enjoy it :)
Kitti sounds like you have a little one to be proud of there, and what a wonderful weekend you had :)
Nutty - Im with you on the behaviour of some posters, glad you had a productive day, and I am also with you on the feeling down thing, some days it just happens, but its easy for us to make it worse by berating ourselves, normal service will be resumed Im sure, even super sock monkey makers are allowed off days hun :)
SavingforOZ - HIPPY BUFFDAY!!!! Im so wishing I knew where to get all those fancy smiley things from right now! Ollie would post a buffday cake! In her absence, (for which she better have a note for! otherwise its detention I can tell you!) I can make um... a vodka :D ... \_/ :D:D:D (ok so you I took a little artistic licence but it almost looks like a glass!
Chewy you win! Half price wine AND Top gear! Im soooo green right now! (with envy not because I feel sick!)

cinq from moi (see you didnt know I was multilingual did you!)

    1) made bread and butter pudding thing using the mountain of crumbs I had acquired!
    2) to make said B&B pud, leaves me with leftover eggwhites... which I attempted a kind of lemon meringue pie with... well I made pastry and stuck some lemon curd on it anyway! Looks ok, have yet to try it!
    3) Cheated with crackling for the first time - it didnt work on the roast, so I cut it off and did the "chef "thing of baking it on its own, and well, it was nice, you have to take my word for it, as I ate THE LOT! yep, I did, honest, all of it! Why can I not crave lettuce and celery, why do I ADORE sausage rolls, pork crackling, butter, cheese.... the list goes on.
    4) OH has been clearing up old leaves and bits, and tipping it all into the barrens that are the hen run. They had a whale of a time! He chucked in about 6 massive piles of stuff, and they have neatly flattened it all out, re arranged it, and LOVED it - to the point where my usual welcome as I took food out was not even acknowledged! Pfft! I am feeling neglected as a mother! A pile of dirt / sawdust / old leaves was better than me!
    5) I have premade the pastry for tomorrows batch cook of delights, and thats the bit I hate doing! So am looking forward to mixing and matching and using up stuff, without having the pastry bit to do!

Voila - see there I go again!
hugs all round, thank you for being such a wonderful bunch of people :)

    1. picking up a gardening encyclopedia for 50p

    2. Roping DD into helping me in the garden to do the lung busting work i am unable to do...she didn't half whine though, she ain't made of tuff stuff like her old mam!

    3. This isn't a pleasure, i just want to confess. LOL! Bad news, for the first time in 8 years of driving I think i earned my first speeding fine today. I was such a dumb bum. I am completely gutted. I was coming out of 40 mile an hour zone and didn't slow down quickly enough as i was entering the 30 mile an hour zone and I didn't even realise what i had done until i'd driven way past the speed camera. Darn it! Never done it before, i didn't even see the 30 mile an hour sign. No excuse though, it's my own stupid fault for not being more observant.

    4. Made some compost tea. I'm not intending to drink it, just to fertilse the fruit and veg with it :rotfl:

    5. Bought a nice leather handbag for less than a tenner, should have been £35. The handle on my fave handbag broke yesterday while i was out so this was more an essential than a luxury, honest.

Katholicos I had driven twice a day past the same speed camera on my wat to and from work for almost 2 years. I was going ski ing that night, and had just left a colleagues house, having picked my new kitten who was 3 days old! I was behind schedule and had 3 hours to pack... none of which was an excuse for doing 37 in a 30 limit, I was distracted and felt SO annoyed! (the letter was waiting for me on return from the ski trip :( ) I feel your pain on this one! however, the reason for the post is how do you make compost tea if its not to dumb a question!

Thanks for this Jexygirl, it's good to know that i'm not alone in having made this mistake.

Compost tea? Well, i've been reading up on it and watching lots of youtube vids...here is an excerpt from one of the sites i visited:
"Weed Tea Recipe:Fill the bucket half full with a mix of weeds and green plant matter, including grass clippings if available and then to the top with water. Stir it a couple of times each week and let is sit with the lid on for at least 3 weeks. Dillute the tea 10 to 1 with water and apply to the base of your plants. "

I just love the idea of getting fertiliser for free, and of it having such a beneficial effect!

Come back Ollie, we miss you

    Ladyhawk
I'm quite envious of your keenness for exercise, my days of size10 and 7 1/2 stone are long gone and I'm more spherical than svelte these days :o. I think it's you who is the lovely neighbour, for cutting your neighbour's lawn
mineallmine congrats on the free bush, thanks to your neighbour ;)
Jenny I so empathise re the washing machine. There's only me but when mine died recently I was up to my elbows in soapsuds for weeks and hated every minute of it. I can't think why anyone would get pleasure from hand washing :(
GirlySquare I love CDWM, it couldn't exist without Dave Lamb so may they pay him his worth for a long time to come :D
CCP your wood pigeons must know a soft touch when they see one, they're now bringing the next generation along for free tucker! ;)
newlywed I hope your jewellery does well, and well done on selling some of your old car parts. Everything x'd for a new job soon :)
Caterina have a lovely time in Italy, I hope the holiday does you good and helps you to feel better :)
Sounds like you had a lovely weekend Kittikins, you certainly chose a good time to go, seeing the marathon is quite something to remember. Well done on having a DD who is well behaved in restaurants rather than the child every diner wants to murder!
Nuttybabe I'd stick to the cinnamon toast in future, you know you're good at that! I remember my house reeked of vinegar when I first came across MSE, I was a bit too enthusiastic in following the cleaning tips :rotfl:
Happy Birthday savingforoz, :bdaycake: have a super day...or days, as you'll be celebrating for more than just today _party__party__party_
Chewy well done having an OH who can, and will, cook the dinner :T
Jex look under the icons on the right, you'll see 'more' in blue. Click on that and you'll find lots more icons, just click on one and it adds itself to to your script :D. Lol at making lm pie with lemon curd :rotfl:so strange it might even work! There's a thread somewhere about having a bath in the bedroom, I was soooo tempted to tell them about yours - or should I say mine!
katholicos of course you needed to buy a new handbag. Put it this way, you didn't so much spend £10 as save £25 ;)

    My 5
    1. The car boot sale was rained off so I unloaded the boot and cleaned it
    2. The sun came out about lunchtime so I was able to hang out the washing
    3. Learned how to use the timer delay on the wm, so I don't have to sit up and wait for econ7 to kick in
    4. Decided I'd had enough storing everything in the lounge over winter so advertised most of the car boot stuff (kept anything that might sell in the local paper) on freecycle and it got 5 replies! One mans trash, as they say...
    5. Rained again this evening so I didn't have to water

    Night night, sleep tight

    Hi People,

Ive had a fab weekend and a pretty good one money-wise. Here my 5 from the weekend:

    1) found a fab diner should we have a craving for fry up, £6.50 for 2 drinks and 2 breakfasts mmmmmmm
    2) spent under budget on this weeks groceries and meal planned for the rest of the week. Going out with work on Wednesday will help as will get expenses and an extra special lunch and St Pancras Station - yay!
    3) Cleared all the wedding stuff out of the spare room and found new places for things meaning we have loads more space not taken up with stuff
    4) Had a lovely lunch yestersay paid for by tesco clubcard vouchers
    5) Taken a packed lunch and actually saw my hubby make one for a change!

Less than £10 to last me this week but still smiling and looking forward to cooking for a change too.

I hope all have a good week ahead and had a good weekend, we have a busy one as we have our honeymoon next Monday, so looking forward to it :-)

Morning all. Just popped in to say - happy birthday savingforoz! Have a lovely day (or few days ;)). emoticon-object-098.gif

jexy - I know you weren't asking me, but broom is a plant - it looks something like a gorse bush without the spines, and has the most gorgeous scented flowers. It's called broom because people used to use the thin branches to make brooms out of, so your witch's broom image wasn't far off. :)

newlywed - good luck with the interview tomorrow (just in case I forget to say it later). I'm sure it will go brilliantly.

Have a nice day, all - I must go and at least pretend to do some work... :(;)
Back after a very long break!
