Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    1. Reading all your lovely positive posts

    2. Making my monthly trip to Mr A and as promised to myself I only bought one of everything I needed, instead of the usual 2. I'm a so-and-so for buying 2 hairsprays, 2 w/u liquids etc (only the ones on offer, of course) then putting one away and forgetting I've got it so this morning I had a good look round and noted what I already have in stock. Apart from fresh, my monthly shop came to £54.64p for me, two mogs and the dog. It's coming down slowly :)

    3. Seeing masses of blossom on my Coxes espalier, bought last year and reduced from £17.50 to £7.50 because it was the last one, and looked very sorry for itself.

    4. Seeing the daffodils bloom at last, some have as many as 5 blooms to a stem. Amazing double flowers, creamy with a yellow, randomly spotted centre which as a friend said looks like egg yolk has dropped onto them. Impossible to describe but truly beautiful

    5. Getting a phone call from a friend asking if I'd like to go to a fellowship convention in Spain in September, sharing a room so keeping the cost down to £300 each for the whole week to include flight, accom, meals and subs. Sadly I can't go as I'm saving for other things and I'm sure she'll find someone else but it was lovely to think she asked me first.

    Night night, sweet dreams

  • Katholicos, many many thanks, & Bless you for the Oatcake recipe link,I`ve put it in favourites box - I`d lost my links for the last lot I tried. I sometimes woffle about Staffs Oatcakes and it always just amazes me that so many folks don`t even KNOW what they are! How sad is that! My last post re the frozen peas, BTW, I only went into Iceland to get them for first aid for our littley for her trapped fingers. More about Peas to follow!
Winchelsea, I`m glad your day turned around, glad your carers are capable, it`s not an easy life but I know all the chats help, be they professional, old pals or just casual, even strangers here on the forum. Hugs to you. And to your OH.
Acey, Beavers are great, 2 of my grandchildren thriving there when they couldn`t fit in with the Cubs/Brownies. And don`t worry about what a child says, Acey, ALL kids do the clear commentary on what they observe,( my son and our four fosterlings were very observant and outspoken, I could write a book on it!) and adults can be embarrassed but, hey -TOUGH!
    My OS pleasures today -
    1) the weather, on my day off. 2 loads of washing dried outside.
    2) I blitzed my kitchen, not a chore, I actually love doing this, only room in the house I like doing!
3)Took my time cooking for tonight(5-a-day in a pasta bake, plus a great cheese sauce over it,using up large lump of needy cheese, and saving some sauce for freezing)
    4) Had a phonecall from DD, inc, ref to the trapped fingers/frozen peas. DGD is fine, but DD asked `Mum, did YOU pay for the peas?` (No ) `I didn`t either`.
We`d dashed into Iceland, grabbed a basket each, with 3 kids under 8 and the middle one HOWLING, I`d gone straight for the peas and got DGD to wrap them round her hand. When we got to the tills I went through first, 3 littleys were milling around between us, and my daughter came through after me. OOPSIE! IOU£1, Iceland! But I`ll explain next time, I`l be going there again for Bacon! It was a pleasure today though, because it made us both laugh.
    5) Met our Postie near the gate, was taking dog out and he handed me our mail...all election bumph, but only 3 leaflets, Welsh Nat, Lib Dem and BNP, the latter on top. Postie said `Sorry, Missis..` as he handed me the mail. Dog likes Postie now, he`s still apologetic but not nervous as he used to be.
    6) Katholicos has given me a Staffs Oatcake recipe link, I`m plotting oatcakes for next days off. YUM! Thanks again K!

    Hey all :)
Im trying to be positive and in a hoorid situation which is why I couldnt find the strength to post - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/32153059#Comment_32153059

I dont blame you for not following the link, its typical me waffle and i have no right to moan, reading everyones pleasures is awesome, and I am reading and feel so bad that my situ pales into insignificance with what Blimus is going through (as a side note, without sounding patronising, a little knowledge is a bad thing).
Go with the info you have, google is great for looking up latin phrases or percentages of crime, but please dont google things that you have "heard" without knowing the full extent, it can be counter productive as I am sure you know. There are so many factors to a "lump" its untrue. Where it is, the shape/ mobility / closeness to nipple / size / length of time it has been there / familiar history. I guess what I want to say is google can be great, but like a PC is only as good as the operator and the information its given, so PLEASE ignore it for now until all facts are there, I have every hope the outcome will be a good one for you and your sister. I hope that reads as supportive as I feel for you that is the intention.
ACEY I also feel for you, you are so storng, and I am so glad your son was able to go to tea and beavers without "special treatment" just with the knowledge needed to understand him :) you are an inspiration.
Nutty Sparrer and CCP, lovely to read you are ok rubbish jokes aside :P :) seems a cop out but isnt, you have both entertained us all with antics and crafts and stuff all this time, you are stalwarts to me and make me see the good and lovely things in life as does
Caterina Im not surprised you are tired, you are busier now than when you worked, but now you have the nap option :D:D:D its lovely to read how you are doing! All the exciting things you get up to!
Winchelsea hugs to you and your situation, I am sure its hard, but you are taking a practical and positive approach, I admire your strength, and positivity.
Im not forgetting all the other regulars, nor the new ones, I agree, its easy to see bad, and its the most fantastic place to make you feel obliged to think of good, even when it all seems bad!
Thank you all for taking the time to post, I know it does you good as well as those of us who read, well at least it does for me. As so many have said, it makes me focus on the positives which can only be a good thing (Ollie I hope its just your PC and its fixed soon!we miss you so much, and I have missed aspiring to do the good you do, even tho i wasnt close! and in my defence I was harassed, its not a competition, more an inspiration, not that others dont inspire me, gahhhh i will shut up now!)

1)I realise how sad this may sound, but, when I post here (and its been sporadic over the last few weeks, people give support in their own way. After my first attempt and response at starting a thread LOOKING for that response, I feel worse, whereas I realised that I dont have to elaborate here, just saying i am having crap is enough. Also reading puts my life into perspective in so many ways.
    2) The girls escaped during feeding yesterday, Not in itself amusing, until I say that OH who is adverse to even touching them, andhas not eaten eggs since we got them, was the one doing the feeding ( I was taking GOsia to see a potential council house she and her B F have been offered but it is 40 mins away) I got back to hystyerical "THEY HATE ME, IMNOT FEEDING THEM AGAIN, THEY PLOTTED AND GOT OUT, I HAD TO GET JOOST TO HELP, I HAD TO PICK ONE UP"
I responded with"Calm down" "they are hens not alquieda" (however you spelll it, and its not meant to offend anyone) I giggled. sorry.
    3) Taking gosia to see a house they have been offered by the council. Its a little one bedroom council house, in THE most amazing location, with the most stunning views, and the best garden / location for £200 a month... Im not jealous honest! The pleasure was us talking about the potential plants /decor / positives, and the lovely drive there and back all be it my only worry about it - the distance and knowing her! That and the worry that she needs this and her BF being 8 years younger and a different stage in his life not needing the same (Im being emo and hormonal ignore me!) I loved spending time with Gosia and excitedly being girly about her setting up home, whilst being almost motherly in a good way I hope!
    4) no pepper seeds yet in my mock bottle greenhouse, but! does anyone want any neeps ? (swedes to us english!) I seem to be cultivating enough to supply the UK in my 2m square dodgey raised bed! At least something is growing!
    5) I didnt have a 5 at the start of the post, now I do. POsting the good as so many say, has the effect of realising that no matter what, there are good things, which in turn raises your moral. Thanks to all that post, and all that share their good and bad times, not for anyones benefit, but for their own, to first recognise that its not as bad as it seems, and second that even if it might be, there are good things :)
Take care and hugs to all

Jex, sorry to read of your horrible situation, wish I could help/offer advice, it sounds highly dodgy!! :( Wish you could just go and kick the shyster's a$$ out of the pub and sell it to someone honest!

DD and I are slowly getting ourselves ready to go away for the weekend, she's convinced it's a lucky day today as we're going by train - 3 of them to get to our friend's as I don't think my car will make it. Bless her, she's so excited!

    1. DD's excitement at what might be a long and dull journey

    2. Lovely cuddles when we woke up this morning as she was in my bed

    3. Being with it enough to change my bed before going downstairs! I love having fresh sheets, hate putting a king sized duvet cover on......

    4. We saw a rainbow in my bedroom, so we're VERY happy girls!

    5. I think my parcel awaiting me at the post office might be my free ip0d from the $ky tv offer, really hope so, it'll be a nice early birthday present :)

    See 5 already and it's only 20 past 8 - woo hoo!

Have a lovely day everyone, "see" you tomorrow xx

    My 5 for yesterday:

    1. Hearing from a friend who I've not been in contact with for a while and arranging lunch.

    2. My boss getting back from Florida and reporting that he'd been well looked after for the extra days he had to spend there - his family were put up in a posh hotel, they got free entrance to the parks, etc.

    3. Coming up with the plot for my next short story - I've had a bit of a dry spell on the inspiration front, but hope that I can now get going again.

    4. Glass of wine in the evening. I rarely drink at home (or at all, really) so that made a nice change.

    5. Finishing early at work.

    Have a good day, everyone.
Life is not a dress rehearsal.
  • Hi jexy sorry to hear about the situation with the other pub, it's good to see you're already getting advice and support.

Thank you for your thoughts and hugs Em-in-a-pickle and jexygirl and anyone else I've missed.

Jexy, what a shocking situation you are in - I really do feel for you.

Now, here are my daily five:

    1. Another beautiful day, birds singing around our garden.

    2. The blossom on our one pear tree is at it's height, and I saw a bee pollinating one of the flowers, and guess if I see one it means there are others doing their work. Only had one pear last year, which I put down to the bee shortage.

    3. Went to a coffee morning at the day centre where DH goes twice a week. £1.50 to get in included coffee and a mouthwatering choice of cake.

    4. While there we met one of the other clients and his wife - lovely people, and she told me about several resources for carers in the area that I hadn't known about, and has taken my phone no., and will ring for my address to send me stuff. (Also, while we sat there the local MP came in - he's a trustee of the centre. I won't vote for him, but he's a nice man, a really good constituency MP, and it's always good to chat with him.)

    5. Watched the snooker on TV with DH just before lunch - I don't follow it normally, but was so pleased to see Steve Davis beat John Higgins that I got quite emotional!

Will make a cup of tea in a minute, then go out in the garden to do a bit of dead-heading and tidying up. It's not a bad life most of the time!
Keeping two cats and myself on a small budget, and enjoying life while we're at it!

  • Winchelsea - ((((hugs)))) for you because of your bad day - glad to see that you still managed to find some positives.
Acey - Yay! For your son going to Beavers. Hope he enjoys it as much as my DS2 does. :j
Jexy - thanks for your support regarding my sister. I am now ignoring everything until she gets her results back. I'm so sorry to hear about your problem at the moment - I have read the other thread. I hope that this can be resolved without too much cost and heartache for you. :(

I've had a good day so far (apart from DH turning off the slow cooker when we went out at 10 am this morning, meaning that we won't be having lamb stew tonight )
So my pleasures are from yesterday and today:

    1) Lost 2lbs in total this week.:j Nearly lost my first stone.
    2) Car boot sale this morning. Found a brilliant bargain for DS1 - two cases full of Warhammer figures, paint and scenery for £6. :T
    3) Swam 50 (mini) lengths at our local pool yesterday. And DS2 swam the whole time without his armbands on and out of his depth. He usually only swims where he can touch the floor.
    4) Boys started back at Beavers/Sea Scouts (although this turned out not to be a pleasure for DS1 as the bullying has resumed from one of the other scouts).
    5) Some of my clothes sold well on ebay. Several sales this month have meant that we are not as broke as we usually are at this time of month.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.
