Not soft at all Jenny, those are the real things that matter...we can all save a bob or two or get a couple of coupons or a freebie, but if we don't really appreciate what we have, no matter how humble, then the other things don't have much meaning. Thank you for reminding me of the good things0

Was this the round one with creme patiserie? It is the one thing I have to bring back from Rouen every year when we go there on holiday... the Asda one wasn't bad but sadly lacked the yummy sticky white icing on top which adds the perfect amount of moisture to the brioche... didn't stop me from scoffing a whole one to myself though!!Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. Evening all. Here's mine for today:
1) Watching the woodpigeons in the garden. I've been feeding a pair since I moved into this flat last year, and today they came to visit with a young one in tow.
2) Cuddles with my puddy tat. He's just trying to placate me after being a naughty boy yesterday and weeing on the floor (luckily the kitchen floor, which is lino-covered and easy to clean), but it's still cute.
3) One of the tomato seeds I'm supposed to be doing a product trial on has finally germinated, so I might actually have something to report!
4) I have a clematis on my back wall which hasn't done anything much in the three years I've owned it (two in my last place, one in my current one), and I had pretty much decided I was going to get rid of it if it did nothing again this year. It must have heard me, as it's now racing up the wall and has half a dozen flower buds on it.
5) Cleared some weeds from between the paving stones in the garden - it's my least favourite garden job and I've been putting it off for ages.
Hmm, all a bit garden-based today - can you guess what I've spent my Sunday doing?
Have a lovely evening, everyone.Back after a very long break!0 -
Hi all, been a bit up and down so need to try and think of my pleasures.
1. Our new(er) car. Tis nice.
2. Getting a few quid from someone who wanted to pick some bits off our old car (as they have a similar one).
3. Being offered some space (minus commission) on a craft stall for me to sell some jewelery bits, so I've been working hard.
4. Having a place to live, food to eat and electricity. (If I don't get a job soon we can't really afford any of those).
5. Having a night booked away at a wedding - and it looks fairly straightforward to find - a bonus since it's 130 miles away!!
6. Even though someone/thing has knocked over my pot of rocket in the garden, a few sprouts look like they have survived and I have more sprouting indoors.
7. My "black beauty" saxifrage alpine is flowering - really dark red flowers and very unusual and pretty.
8. One ranunculus has loads of bright orange flowers (the other is in a more shady spot and seems slightly unhappy).
9. There's at least a job interview on the horizon (tuesday).working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Hi all
Just a quick note to say sorry I haven't been online f or a couple of days, not been feeling well and been in bed (hoping that I get better before I go to Italy!) I won't be online until after 7th May as I am going on Tuesday morning (and I might not be online tomorrow as I have so many things to do!).
Love to all and catch up soon! xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Caterina sorry to hear you've been unwell, hope you feel better soon
newlywed good luck with the interview!"We have to be kind because everyone is fighting a great, great battle" - Sir Richard Attenborough

Evening all!
Hope you have had a relaxing and peaceful weekend.
My pleasures for today:
1) chatting to my mum this afternoon... which is always nice.
2) Making apple crumble with some bagel crumbs and apple chunks from the freezer... it is going to be ready in a few minutes... YUM!
3) Made a bit of a mess with the beef stew that I was making for dinner. All was going swimmingly well until I decided to add some beans from the freezer... except it wasn't just beans... it was also beef mince!! Not a major issue, but the end result is odd to say the least! But at least it is edible!
4) My lovely neighbour popped her head out of her window when I came back from getting my glasses fixed (again) to say thank you for my cutting her lawn for her! It was a pleasure really and no hassle for me really.
5) Fresh sheets on the bed tonight!
Have a great week!

Happy Birthday for tomorrow Savingforoz - it's mine on Tuesday, and I started celebrating last night, so will raise a glass of vino/water to you tomorrow
1. We had a fantastic time away - 3 trains each way were a piece of cake with an excited and sensible DD, good connections and her being a little sweetie pie, holding my hand on escalators in case I was scared (bless), being so chiry and chatting to people all over the place.
2. Our friend gave us our christmas/birthday presents as we've not seen her since December, and we were truly spoiled, she's a very generous girl, she always chooses fabulous pressies that just hit the spot!
3. Had a lovely play in the park yesterday afternoon, enjoying the sunshine and trying to persuade the ducks and swans that they really did want our bread, they weren't particularly hungry! Saw a swan on her nest and some cute coot chicks
4. Delicious dinner in a local restaurant, love that I can take my DD out to eat in good places and not worry about her behaviour/being too picky. I did go off piste in her menu choice, but as it was an Italian restaurant, nothing was too much trouble for a little princess
5. We had such a lovely time on the marathon route today, DD already wants to come back last year and see all the costumes/wave flags etc! We met up with another friend and cheered her sister on, so it was nice to have a really personal connection.
6. Bumped into one of DD's dancing friends and her mum/brother yesterday at the station on our way to London, turns out the mummy is good friends with a friend of mine - it's a v. small world eh?!
7. Our trip was v. cheap due to my free ticket to mainland station, so I only had to buy an extension bit to our friend's place and DD's trip only set me back £1. Shame I spent so much money on our meals out.....oh well, I only turn 39 once I suppose, lol.0
