Morning
Katholicous - Big congratulations to your DD you must be very proud
Mine for yesterday:
1. As feeling a little fragile (red wine fragile) I had a yummy cheese and onion toastie mid morning. Just what I needed.
2. Sat in our new staff room at work yesterday for half an hour to have my lunch rather than sit at my desk which I normally do. Nice to have a break from the phone.
3. Thought we were going to miss the train to get to a meeting at DD's school last night but just made it so didn't need to pay for a taxi
4. DD had options evening and all seemed to go well with teachers being honest as to what they thought her capabilities are. Looks like she will definetly be going to college one day a week to do childcare which is great for her.
5. Not OS but had chinese takeaway for tea which none of us really enjoyed and decided that in future should just make our own. DD said my sticky rice is much nicer:D
Will pop back later to see everyones pleasures for today. Hugs to all who need them.0 -
Hello everybody!
Hope ya'll are swell.BlimusOreilly wrote: »Shadowsfall - I get what you mean when you say that you get it now!!:rotfl: I felt like that when we moved to Norfolk and changed our lifestyle. Was like an epiphany! :ACool beans! Thanks for sharing Blimus!
Not had such a good few days (weather aside!), OH and I had a fairly epic row last night and I have asked him if we can have a chat about it tonight  ...
Sending good vibes your way! Hope it works out ok.2 - Healthy breakfast of oats, seeds and nuts with a chopped apple and a pear and soya milk.
Well done youI don't find it so easy to eat this stuff though I know I oughta!
Well done on the Mortgage track Ladyhawk! And Patchwork Quilt - excellent news on the earrings... I've always felt so guilty when I've lost things like that.mineallmine wrote: »3. The roof over my head.:A
Just wanted to say - bl@@dy brilliant pleasure! Soemtimes the most obvious blessings are forgotten!
So my five... (maybe more!)
1. Driving through some beautiful countryside to get to workies.
2. Seeing a cuckoo this morning in OHs garden.
3. Noticing the benefits of surrounding myself with positive, caring people. (Yourselves included! This thread is lush).
4. Having fish and chippies for dinner last night... bought by OH
5. Knowing that I shall be spending another weekend with my lovely man, and that he will be building things with DF again.
6. OH stepping on a rusty nail at work yesterday morning, battling through the day to come home very dusty, sore and sad, only to brighten up quickly and end up laughing lots when I messed about. Love it when he laughs.
7. Feeling like a weight has been lifted off me. Think it's down to me chilling out a bit more over the last few days. Phew.
8. My bananas are turning brown and that means... banana loaf! wooo! Just got to find my cake tin...
Have a lovely day ladies (and possible lurking gents?) :snow_grin0 -
Here are my 5 pleasures for yesterday:
- A visit from my parents, which is always a pleasure, and they had bought DD some new holiday clothes.
- Annual boiler service which is covered by our insurance. It looks like they are actually going to fix our thermostat that they had promised to fix last year, I won't hold my breathe though!
- Making my own pasta sauce for tea and having leftovers for another time.
- Starting to count calories again to try and shift my baby weight. Which will mean eating less food, thus saving lots of money!
- Early night with my book.
I am having a good day and already have 5 OS pleasures for today!:
- Going out for a brisk walk to the shops this morning with DD and spending less than £5 and getting loads of things that I needed.
- A visit to the library to return more books. They were having a special St Georges day event and were giving out artificial red roses to all the customers to celebrate.
- A wander round the huge fabric shop and finding some possible fabrics to recover the dining chairs, still can't decide though
- Getting my 3rd meal out of 1 small chicken.
- Finding lots of new ingrediants to try in the health food shop. I bought an organic mediterranean cous cous mix that will be great for a quick lunch.
A sneaky 6th pleasure: Being far more open minded about new foods and ingrediants to try. 5 years ago I wouldn't of considered using cous cous, polenta, lentils etc, But now they are a staple in my cupboard.Value of prizes 2010 - 2017: £8374 Wins 2022: Magic set

Loving the positivity of this thread, feeling the need to add my 5 :-)
1) seeing a lovely cushion, shiny new frying pan (mine are are very small and only large one is very flaky) and a stick blender to spend wedding voucher on in BHS. All half price and means old blender can be sold at bootfair and get more room in the cupboards as a bonus!
2) finishing my current work project under budget, meaning my other over budget projects wont be an issue
3) going home to a wonderful husband and decluttering
4) being taken out to dinner and seeing friends tonight
5) spending time sorting the garden, picking new plants and seeing it all pretty out my kitchen window0 -
Hi all
For some reason these days I am feeling very tired even without having done much, so I am going to post my pleasures and then have a quick nap before cooking dinner:
1 - Sunshine again and it is warmer than yesterday!
2 - Went to see the woman I assisted in childbirth a few weeks ago and she is doing very well (even if she does not think she is!).
3 - Holding the baby, he is gorgeous and at 5 weeks he is beginning to smile.
4 - We had a long walk in the park, it was so beautiful, all in flower and even better for the wonderful weather.
5 - She very kindly invited me to lunch in the park cafe - the food was horrid but it is the thought that counts!
6 - On my way back I popped into a local shop that was celebrating St George's Day by offering customers a glass of lemonade and a mini cupcake and of course I had both of them (but did not buy anything - it is so expensive!).
7 - Anticipating the pleasure of watching the next episode of Ashes to Ashes (you can't beat the Gene Genie!).
Have a great evening all xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -

Hi all, not been keeping up with the thread too well, so sorry for lack of comments. Hope everyone is well, hugs to all who need them.
Here's mine from today:
1. After 26 job applications, I've finally got an interview next week
2. Sunshine.
3. My basil and tomato seeds I planted are growing - still waiting for the peppers.
4. We have a replacement car and it's posher than the last one - it has central locking and air con
5. I haven't run out of money yet.... but need a job very soon or we can't even pay the rent, let alone anything elseworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Here are my 5 for today:
1. Toast and jam for brunch, using my home made damson jam.
2. Sowing seeds; cabbage, cauliflower, turnip, swede, tomato, basil and parsley.
3. Making a small area in the garden for my sugar snap peas to go, once they are ready and also making a cane construction for them to grow up.
4. I made 2 wasp traps for the garden using 2 x empty pop bottles, some damson jam, honey and apple juice. Hope they work.
5. Recieved a lovely thank you card from a friend.Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

Evening all
Mine for today
1 Left for school on time so got there early and had a chat with some of the mums up there
2 Spent all morning and all afternoon cleaning the kids bedrooms as per flylady. Got it finished - cant believe how messy they had become!!
3 Hoovered downstairs and cleaned kitchen and made a new batch of gloop
4 Lots of hugs from the kids when they saw their new rooms
5 Friday night is fakeout night. Pizza and chips (as usual) and a film
When i put kids to bed i have a bottle of wine waiting, a huge amount on the v+ box to watch and a massive pile of ironing to get through! oh joy!!
have a good evening everyone0 -
Evening all.
katholicos - mmm, damson jam - I haven't had that since my parents moved out of their old house 6 years ago.
newlywed - WD on getting an interview. Good luck!
Shadowsfall - I hope your OH is OK after stepping on that nail. Is he up to date with his tetanus shot, cos if not this could be a good time to have it done.
ACEY - I'm glad your ear was a bit better yesterday (I'm doing a bit of catching up here!), and hope it's much better today.
nuttybabe - hope you're feeling better today, too.
savingforoz - (again, a bit late as I'm catching up) - at your cats round your feet on the stairs. I live in a ground floor flat so I don't have that problem - I just trip over mine and fall into walls, doors, furniture...
My pleasures for today:
1) All the flowering cherry trees round Portsmouth at the moment - so pretty!
2) The meeting I minuted this morning wasn't as bad as I had expected, and the minutes are easy-peasy: the usual secretary knows the committee's business so well she's practically written the minutes already, so all I have to do is fill in the blanks.
3) Cheese salad and HM brown bread for lunch. I don't mind diet lunches when they taste that good.
4) Ran into a work colleague in Waitrose after work - she's been stuck in America for the past week, so it's lovely to know she's made it back OK.
5) My lettuce seeds are coming up, as are my basil seeds, and a variegated nepeta from last year's hanging baskets has seeded itself between the paving stones outside my front door - it looks so pretty I think I'll leave it there.
Have a lovely evening, everyone.Back after a very long break!0
