    Hi all

Not a very productive day today, not sure where it all went, other than me being lazy and indecisive about what to do, pottering here and there and not concluding much.

However, here are my pleasures for yesterday and today:

    Wednesday:

    1 - Reasonably long lie-in

    2 - Wonderful weather

3 - Got dressed, put M&S tights on, as soon as I got them on one split almost in half. When I went to Central London I took them to the customer service for a refund and they refunded the money without batting an eyelid. It paid for my lunch out (Salmon salad and fruit salad!).

4 - Outing in Central London to buy prezzies for my family in Italy.

5 - Indian takeaway for dinner (with rice cooked at home to save money).

6 - Eating the takeaway and watching episodes 5 and 6 of Life on Mars on DVD.

    Today:

1 - More sunshine, how lovely!

2 - Healthy breakfast of oats, seeds and nuts with a chopped apple and a pear and soya milk.

3 - DS received the shirt I ordered for him as an early birthday present (he wanted it NOW!) and he looks gorgeous in it. He is very happy.

4 - The veg in the front garden planter are really showing now (time to plant another few rows of lettuce and radishes!).

5 - The beans in the pots are starting germinating and all other plants seem to be doing well!

6 - Later on my friend will bring me a few more tomato plants.

Have a good rest of the day everybody! xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Thank you savingforoz for your welcome.

Have had a good day so far today - here are five:

    1. Had a good night's sleep - not woken by DH until 0720, which in my book is reasonable!
    2. Got the bus into town for a quick pop to Mr S - free fare of course with granny pass, AND got the free paper - good for TV guide, as didn't buy one this week.
    3. Went to WI lunch - all prepaid, and very good value for money - lovely food, and had a good laugh and natter.
    4. Won one of the raffle prizes, jar of acacia honey.
    5. Another lovely sunny day!
Keeping two cats and myself on a small budget, and enjoying life while we're at it!

    Evening all...

I'm back from deepest darkest Wales (well... Cardiff) and had a really good couple of days there.

So my pleasures from yesterday and today:

    1) Not having to drive to Cardiff... my lovely colleague was my chauffer, and all I had to do was present for 20 minutes to a group of 30 people. We got some good feedback from the presentation which was nice, glad the audience didn't cotton on to how unprepared we were!

    2) Got loads of samples from the suppliers we met this morning - Anglesey sea salt, yummy cheeses, crisps, ice cream, free range eggs and lots and lots of cakes and biscuits.

    3) Off to a well know tea brand tomorrow to discuss their policies on ethical trading... and to do a tea tasting!! YUM! So really looking forward to that.

    4) The beautiful sunshine!

    5) I am going to put a wash on, and then have a lovely soak in the bath this evening, before retiring early to bed for a long snooze... since I need to be up at the crack of dawn to get to the tea supplier.

    6) My boss confirmed what my pay rise is... and it is rather nice, and a lot more than I actually expected! Woohoo!! He is also going to check what band I will be in now and if I have moved up one then I will get an extra 2 days holiday... Whoop Whoop!

Anyway... have a lovely evening everyone...

    L

Edited to add a very cheeky 7th!

I have just found out that my mortgage has finally dipped under the £100k mark and that I am definintely on track to pay it off in 5 years!! That's if I don't decide to move back to London in the imminent future...

    Hellooo everyone :)
Well here are my five :)

    1) Raising 4 times the amount of money I originally thought we would in college for a very ill 2 year old little girl :)
    2) Enjoying a lovely afternoon in our local recreation centre watching a fab performance by our performing arts group :)
    3) Having to take my cardi off because it was so warm :)
    4) Arriving home to find a free gift of candles from a company :)
    5) Actually wanting to do some cleaning tonight :)

Hope everyone has had a lovely day :)
    Brightest blessings :)

    Evening all.

ACEY - hope your ear gets better soon - that sounds really painful. :(

sparrer - I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. I'm sending best wishes thoughts in his direction, and to you too.

Tealady - I'm glad you can disprove the complaint about your department. Having been in that situation myself recently you have my sympathy.

savingforoz - WD on your grocery challenge for the month. :T

emilyka - I hope things go OK with your OH tonight.

wogglemaker - hope your flare-up improves very soon and you feel better.

Winchelsea - WD on your raffle win - a good prize, too (I love honey!).

Ladyhawk - glad your trip to the wilds of Wales went well. Hope you have a good day tomorrow, too.

    My five for today:

    1) Went for a long walk in the (rather chilly) sunshine during my lunchbreak, and saw the first bluebell of the year. :)

    2) Also saw my first ever wheatear (it's a bird ;)) - I had to look it up but apparently it's a migrant that comes here for the summer, so that must mean spring has truly sprung. Also, female wheatears (which I saw) are yellow, my favourite colour - that's three pleasures from one small bird. :D

    3) My cat coming for a cuddle and apparently not holding a grudge over the fact I've stepped on him three times already today. (It's his own fault for standing so close that I can't move my feet without falling over him, but cats aren't usually that logical. Nor are humans, come to think of it! ;))

    4) Finding a tub of organic slug-killer in the shed to fend off the little so-and-so's that are munching my newly grown seedlings.

    5) Deciding to be naughty and have a tiny bit of butter on my mash tonight. It's not diet-friendly, but mash without butter is just wrong. :o

    6) I'll also be having an early night tonight as I've "agreed" to play secretary to a senior committee tomorrow, which means an early-ish start. (Agreed is in inverted commas as I don't actually remember agreeing, but everyone's been told that I did. I think I've been had here...)

    Have a lovely evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

Evening everyone. Sorry cooking tea as I "speak" so I can't reply individually.

    Mine for last few days:

    1. watching kids bounce on trampoline at soft play centre and enjoying their giggles.

    2. the sunshine (of course) - its been fantastic to spend so much time in the garden the past couple of days :D

    3. My tap class last night. I am loving it :D

    4. Doing pretty well during the week for NSD. Apart from toddler group fees I am not spending any money and stashing it away as much as I can.

    5. Washing is now all up to date.

    6. Setting myself a cleaning rota and am sticking to it reasonably well.

    7. Went to spend this afternoon with friends and their children so had a good natter.

    8. Having faster internet after changing service providers. Am looking forward to mooching for some good apple tree varietys so I get one to plant.

right tea nearly done so I will call it a day here :)
I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife :D Louise Brooks

Lol... mine are the same. Always standing just where I am about to step.

Oh, and you certainly have been stiched up like a kipper re the meeting tomorrow morning... I am sure you will get your reward eventually though

  • 1) Finding my earrings - this is a huge pleasure. I lost them last year. Mum bought me some lovely earrings so I tried them on at once and put the ones I was wearing somewhere. Unfortunately, I could never remember where, although I had thought it quite safe at the time. Those were a present from my husband to match a necklace he had bought me for Christmas so every time I wear it, I feel upset. Anyway, I was cleaning up today and came across a pot-pourri holder in the display cabinet that Mum gave me and was just thinking that someone else ought to be enjoying it when for some reason, I took the lid off and there, nestling on the pot-pourri, was a tiny jewellery box with my lost earrings in it. Phew! Rang DH up at once to tell him.
    2) A picnic lunch with DH. We sometimes meet up for a lunch out but it can get expensive so we decided to have a walk and a picnic of home-made sandwiches. Summer is so much cheaper.
    3) Have just about run out of funds this month but found some Mr T's vouchers so the shopping bill was £8.64.
    4) Made some fudge as a thank you for the friend who's cooking dinner for us tomorrow. Watching DD, DS and friends zoom in as soon as the bowl needed scraping was quite comical.
    5) £6 for a dress from the charity shop which will do nicely for tomorrow evening. Might have to borrow DD's shoes though ...
