    • I put one more thing up for sale.:money:
    • Had a letter from the mortgage people, we have overpaid by £315 per month for 3 years now, so we are taking a break as things are tight, but nice to see its at least up to date, though the amount they do not communicate anything with us is ridiculous, I document every penny to them each month as I don’t trust them at all.
    • Put in DH’s PPI claim via the resolver tool as well today.
    • I popped out to Mr T, just for a few named brand things we ran out of that had come up half price, picked up a big bag of rtc parsnips for 4p, a big bag of finest spuds for 50p, a 750g Swede for 25p and some 25p croissants. Total cost was £15 this includes £6 of things for DF.:T
    • Made plans to visit people for tomorrow.
    • I haven’t had any appetite for a while now so I’ve lost a little bit of weight, but only a little and it’s much needed.:o

    1) Delivery guy was not on doorstep first thing, as he was yesterday. He did arrive though, and I have a lovely new scarf hanger to review, much larger than expected.

    2) Book I gave friend for DGD of friend was much appreciated. The wonderful Clare Balding.

    3) Quality work from a learner as preparation for tests.

    4) After posting about the passing of Shirley Goode yesterday I decided to cook her last recipe that she posted, as it was quick, simple and appealed. I was so sad to read that Shirley had died, even though I hadn't read her blog much. Ironically I'd stopped reading as she said something negative about Jack Monroe, and the food element of the blog was much less. However having read what she posted later on in the blog towards her last year or so, Shirley clearly mellowed. I guess it must have been a sadness for her to have been largely forgotten, whereas Jack was landing lucrative advertising contracts for giving essentially the same messages out as Shirley.
Shirley blogged until 6 months before her death and through much a long illness, an inspiration to older technology users.

The recipe was a super quick fishcake one, they took about ten minutes to make, start to finish. No smoked trout here, A!di smoked mackerel and tinned potatoes blitzed in the food processor. A just OOD packet of sage and onion stuffing, used dry, rather than boring flour, to coat. No egg needed to bind or coat, but plenty of wholegrain mustard and a rather mild horseradish for extra oomph in the mix.

    5) Copied from another post elsewhere: I was looking amongst my tins and trays for something to freeze the fishcakes in or on, and came across a four - hole Prestige Yorkshire Pudding tin I got with Green Shield Stamps when I was quite newly married - which makes it 40 years old. It was perfect - and also the right size for re-creating the yummy three-cheese and red onion tart that I had eating out for lunch this week.

The other post had an explanation of Green Shield Stamps, but I don't think it's needed here...!

skint hope you feel better soon....ice cream a panacea for all ills!

Almost bedtime. It's been so blooming hot that I've not done very blooming much today.

Phoned niece and friend this morning...spoke to great niece briefly, who had sneaked out if bed to see who was on the phone....I can remember doing that!

Wrote my blog about World Cancer Day ( or everyday as we know it)

Made a very lovely cauliflower cheese that went with the remains of some very lovely mince and tatties from last night.

Just about to take dog a quick walk round block before it gets dark then bed.

    Tomorrow is another day :)

  • 1) We have sunshine!!!

    2) We have 6 Nations!!!

    3) We ( or rather I) have done all the housework including changing the beds, washing the bedding and doing the ironing so I can watch both matches this afternoon guilt free!!!

    4) He Who Knows finally has some cough medicine to hopefully make him feel a little better and perhaps to get some sleep tonight, this virus is a shocker!

5)My blue hyacinths that bloomed indoors in January and I put out on to the patio to finish off have produced two more flower spikes so I will detach the old dead ones and bring them back indoors to enjoy. 2 for the price of 1? can't be bad can it?

Some pleasures for last couple of days,

Whilst continuing to clear DM's home many treasures found including some of our school reports, not surprisingly a number of comments touched on my ability to be easily distracted, Capt S nickname for me is butterfly brain :)

Getting to the end of the above task, it's been hard on the heart but so many happy memories.

Beautiful morning yesterday with blue sky and sunshine, can almost see the dogs sniffing the air for spring and their energy levels are going up.

The mice haven't got all of my bulbs and many pots are filling up.

Heading out to the farm shop this morning saw a number of horse riders enjoying a hack out, so so envious as I miss that part of my life very much, for the first time since I lost my equine pal have tentative plans to do something about it.

The stars have aligned and both hollow-legged stepsons are home for the weekend from Uni, treat of Sunday lunch out with them tomorrow to look forward to.
  • I will add in a sixth and the best of the day pleasure

    6) When Cookie and I were walking I found the first couple of open violet flowers on a clump in a sheltered spot under a hedge, such a deep and beautiful purple, now that really IS a pleasure!
