    Pleasures for today (Tuesday)

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Another day at work done.

    3) Went out after work for severe hair cutting and eyebrow threading.

    4) Some YS bargains from M and S (!) 2 packets of mixed veg to go with our gammon for tea tomorrow - 25p. 2 packets of red cabbage already mixed with apple etc 10p, cooked and now in the freezer, portioned out.

    5) Watched Holby City.

    6) Had a phone call when at work (so couldn't answer) about our storage heaters being replaced. The downstairs one hasn't worked for about 5 years.

    1. Not long in, but must interrupt my AdAll book research to post this, Savoyard Proverb:
[SIZE=-1]"I have so much to do that I am going to bed."
Very true. I do like their site, with a bon mot heading every page:)
    2 hwbs in wait.

2.Ran huge rugby laundry - teatowels, tabards, white girlie aprons, all ironed too - back, as I knew Tues is a training night. Despite the rain pouring down, beneath the floodlights the youngsters especially were loving it. So good to see. Crowded carpark. Masses of parents and children. You would have loved seeing them I think, Mrs lw and mila+oh.
There was a downside: 'Aha, good good! Here come the bacon butties!' said someone mistakenly, seeing & approach with large banana box plastic'd over.

One of the Untraced Works [they're illustrated] is among them. Hopes of offsetting last week's Spits' dire £s are realistic therefore, even if not immediately realised and impeccable authentication will be essential.

Morning from my bed at dad's house.

    Pleasures for the last few

    1. Hedge laying in ICT was fun. I think i benefitted, chest infection / cold wise for being outside. Wasn't planning to learn anything, just be a gopher - typically was trying to direct operations after half a day :o
    2. Nice evening in the pub on Saturday. After friends had cooked dinner
    3. Sunday was a half day, so spent the afternoon in the bath (also watched Taboo, it's weird, but i think i have to see it through now) and an evening with the telly.
    4. Good train home on monday - got lots done. DS picked me up - so handy now he can drive.
    5. OH came home on Monday, he had thought he wouldnm't make it, so a nice bonus
    6. Train to dads yesterday. he is in fine fettle. had a nice walk by the sea.

    Have a good day all
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Bedtime here. Has been a pleasantly cool day.

DD2 went back to school. Last ever first day back photos taken ( before & after as her blazer had been away getting new house captain badge sewn on and was being delivered to school )

Got a call from hospital social worker telling me that Centrelink had made a total mess of my carers allowance application ( you may remember that it was turned down as OH apparently wasn't terminally ill enough and I re-applied and hadn't heard /had queried at the office pre Christmas and there was nothing on the system and trying to call is ridiculous . I could not even get connected and we have just been so busy doing hospital ) anyway I had asked her if she could help and she has. A sizeable amount being backdated . It's not a huge amount each week but will be a help. We've already spent over $200 on medications this week.

Caught up on housework and felt more in control.

Back to city for hospital .train and tram. Wee snooze whilst OH was having CT and then tram & train home.

Posted an eBay parcel. Returned some unused drugs. Paid for a blooming library book that had juice leaked all over it in my bag.

Have been looking at old photos all evening , having a laugh at more than a few.

    Have a lovely day :)
  • And I am still not joining the crowds.

5 At mill again. We will soon be throwing our new toy on the test bench. More later.

4 Pink tutu night again. And it is more than a slip as well.

3 Just had usual Jaffa cake and tea at work. Proper foods. Later will be some Chicken curry. Brewed on the stove. Proper food.

PM2DD We're doomed. Bogle. Hero to zero.

And if you wait. The cloud disperses.

    • I re started trying to dig down to the office, I need to get it into a motivational space rather than dumping ground. I tidied, threw out and filed, and drafted some wording for a few things for sale, measured and took photos. Which reminds me, I also really need to get around to selling the car that’s standing in the driveway, just because I love it doesn’t make it useful so it’s cluttering now.:)
    • Gave 2 bin bags of clothes to the heart foundation.
    • Making a corned beef hash with a side of beans for tonight’s dinner.
    • A freezer raid found a toffee sponge for later.:o
    • Nice to feel like I have achieved a little.:p
    • While tidying the office, I found some paperwork that proved I had PPI with a company on the fined list. So I scanned it in and started a case via the MSE resolver. Here is hoping it gets refunded.:money:
  • * Curtains hung in our small TV room off the bedroom. Now no glare from the sun on the screen. OH is one happy couch potato! He's not really but it sounded good in this context.

    * 50 cent corndogs tonight at Sonic drive-in. http://www2.ljworld.com/marketplace/businesses/sonic-drivein-7964/ (an example)
We ordered lots. More fried food. Didn't have to cook. Happy me. [Remember I'm cooking in the crock pot because my kitchen is torn out. It getting to be a drag]
    http://life-in-the-lofthouse.com/homemade-corn-dogs/

    * Ripper Street on Netflix...... newest season.

    * Looking at backsplash tile. Can't decide. I think I will wait until cabinets are in for direction.

** New sconce wired on opposite wall of the one sconce we have in the dining room. We also have florusent light that shine out top and bottom from a wide wooden rail type 50's thing that goes the length of another wall. It only works part of the time so it's dark in there at night when trying to eat.
I'm thinking of getting mostly clear or lightly frosted glass for the covers of my now two sconces. The one I have has a glass fixture from the mid 80's and I know I can't match it. Time marches on.

    * Finally tile in front of the fireplace. Grouting tomorrow then sealing grout in all three rooms. Light at the end and all.

    * DD1 received a lovely email from her Pakistani medical resident. Olivia is head of the resident program and she brought this brilliant hardworking resident into her office and said 'How are you doing?'
This woman poured out her fears and stories of many others in her community. Her children's Muslim school hired armed guards and are going to build a big fence. I can't believe this would happen in America. Im heart sick. I'm so proud of Olivia for lovingly reaching out to this woman. She's a joy of a daughter!

    * The pleasure of my youngest son challenging me to Words with Friends. He's going to be good.
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

I agree msm to us it seems horrific that this is happening in the West. Yet of course in Pakistan it is very normal. When i went out last year to Sindh I had my own armed guard for the journey from the airport to the University (i had quite a shock when the car stopped just outside the airport complex and he got in - they see it as such a normal part of life they hadn't even mentioned him to me), both where i stayed and the university were walled with armed guards. Indeed in the University there seemed to be one on every corridor, in some cases by locked gates on corridors which here would be open all the time. A huge culture shock for me as a Brit but perhaps not so alien to Americans? You would of course be in a much better place to advise. But yes I agree from my cultural viewpoint very very sad.
