    Evening all :)

    Five pleasures for Monday:

    1. Didn't pay for parking this morning but used a free slot and walked a bit further. Ended up going down a very long and muddy path and having a very pleasant chat the whole way with a woman walking her dog.

    2. Found (in my hiding place for weekly housekeeping) £40 that I hadn't realised was still there. I thought I'd borrowed it and the rest of the month's food money to pay the garage for a bill the insurance company should be refunding this week but I'd miscalculated my memory of the bill and discovered £40 left behind which was very good news. :)

    3. Very tasty mushroom omelette and salad for supper.

    4. Food shopped (hopefully) for another week. At the same supermarket, got a new battery put in my watch and bought a new strap online because the old one broke. I'll fit it myself - cheaper than getting it done through the shop. Lovely to have a functioning watch again.

    5. Jovial meeting this evening with a committee I'm involved with as a volunteer.

    Sweet dreams

    Pleasures for today (Monday)

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Work went quite quickly as I was writing for someone in an exam all morning, worked through lunch and busy this afternoon.

Not so good at work was to receive my redundancy letter. Though they won't say exactly who is going yet.

    3) Had a quick tidy.

    4) Another day of healthy eating and the first day I have been really hungry this year.

    5) Bigger son in a better mood later, which was surprising as I found a bottle of vape stuff in his bag so did a bit of shouting and poured it down the sink in a dramatic fashion :-( We watched First Dates Hotel.

    6) In bed now with 1hwb.

Good to hear things improving frith
    1) so worried about oversleeping I woke at 5:57. Stayed in bed till 6:30 then bounced out of bed, washed and dressed, walked the dogs, porridge and off to work
    2) first teaching of the new year. Very enjoyable
    3) unidentifiable frozen fodder turned out to be turkey and leek soup yum
    4) walked home with colleague then tossed slightly over veggies into slow cooker for tomorrow lunch
    5) supper at mum's with dd1. She needed help cutting her personal statement down from 8500 to 4000 characters.

  • Frith, boys keep us on our toes don't they as they go through puberty & push the boundaries! Emotional roller coaster for all involved. How much longer has bigger son got at school ?

    1. no frost last few mornings. A bit of sunshine and brisk wind this afternoon so I managed to get some washing out this afternoon for a few hours. Will finish on airers

    2. have been struggling to eat breakfast at 6am and then snacking at work in the mornings, so I bought some instant porridge pots in aldi to try and took one with me today. Much better eaten an hour later at 7.30 and no snacking .... I wonder if I can make these up cheaper myself with box/bag of oats and some coffee mate which I use for drinks at work ??? or dried milk....

    3. afternoon nap
    - DS got in from voluntary job at 3.30am and although he tried to be quiet all I could hear was cough, cough, cough. Not his fault obviously but I couldn't get back to sleep and was up at 5.30am for work.

    4. have sorted a new savings account with better interest than my ISA and feel better now I've decided to put aside regular savings for the future... maybe pay down mortgage or move house/downsize ...

    5. cant think of another so will bank for later

Frith, skint is spot on and you have two fine young men in the forming. How could it possibly be otherwise?

Bop, in new rôleplay rôle of SternComptroller telling little new trains to behave themselves. This is rehearsal before arrival of boxed set, dependent on marks and being off the book.
