Let the show begin0 -
Good morning , it's Thursday, sun is shining and birds are singing.
I've been howling down the phone to my sister, who has just listened and said the right things at the right time. We had a fairly harrowing but very honest appointment with our oncologist yesterday. There were no surprises but still very difficult to hear. I feel very emotionally spent this morning but shall just have to keep on going regardless.
There were moments of loveliness though yesterday.
I had a lovely ( apart from swallowing a bloody fly!) dog walk first thing before it got too warm.
We took the train into city, stayed on a couple of extra stops then walked the rest of the way to hospital.
The kindness of our oncologist.
Sharing a smile with a lady on a very crowded tram....I nearly landed on her lap!
It was a nice sunny day, warm without being hot and with a bit of a breeze.
We went for dinner instead of a rush hour train.
We walked over to Fed Square where there's a massive big inflatable water slide and I was on the big screen ! 2 minutes of fame!
Home on a less crowded train. Home to our children to tell them our latest. I didn't have the words so he told them.
We have handyman coming to sort out our flood damaged things. Landlords expense not ours.
First main crop of tomatoes are ripening nicely in the sun , sweet peas are in full bloom .
It's to be a hot one today so shall go and be industrious now before it gets too hot.
& thinking of you and your NZ family. Take care x0 -
Evening all
(((((& and family)))))
(((((Mhags and family)))))
and more hugs to anyone else who could use them.
Five pleasures for Wednesday:
1. Collected the little telly donated to us, it's just the right size for the sitting room and everything works very well. Fab.
2. Dropped into my parents on the the way back home and spent an hour or so chatting over a cuppa.
3. Listening to library audiobook while I got on with chores.
4. Helping DS1 do tons of tidying and decluttering of DIY/tools type stuff and sports kit. It's helping such a lot to have him on board. Things in car boot ready to get to the dump tomorrow morning.
5. New watch strap arrived and fitted so watch is being worn again.
Sweet dreams

Thinking of Ampersand and MHags this evening.
Here are my pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went to feed the hens with scraps from yesterday's cookery lesson.
3) Survived another day at work.
4) Bigger son horribly grumpy and miserable with me. He did see the school counsellor today (obviously, she is a "stupid woman" and apparently asked him what he wanted to talk about and he said "nothing") He seems to be getting on OK with his mocks.
5) A very tasty chow mein for tea. Used the usual chicken pieces, peppers, celery and broccoli then soy sauce. Did wholewheat noodles. Then saw the jars of mango chutney and lime pickle from our New Years Eve party so bunged a spoonful of those in too.
6) Cleaned the turtles tank out with smaller son.
7) In bed now and about to watch Holby City.0 -
Huge hugs to you mhags and all your family
Mrslurcher hygge is on Facebook and is called the hygge nook
Vjsmum candles and music are very hygge
1) waking up in time for 7am Skype with student. Took the dogs for a walk and made a big bowl of porridge first
2) mr piano made me a delicious lunch
3) sarnies at workshop I was. Running. Couldnt make it for the lunch but loads of sarnies left over so took some in my Tupperware and put them in the fridge for tomorrow
4) gbf picked me up at 4 and we went home to walk the dogs. No dogs, no mr piano. His mum and stepdad had called round and they'd taken the three boys out. It was cold and blustery so I was quite happy :-)
5) then mr piano, gbf and I went for a curry, gbf and I went to the tempest, and mr piano went back to do 2 hours piano practice then the Tesco shop.
Decorator has finished office already, is half way through ds's room and asking which room next. As I have no energy or space to clear another room tonight I've said the downstairs loo, and I've told mr piano he and I are clearing the piano room on Saturday. Obviously the piano will have to stay. Not sure what I do tomorrow night if I get home to a note requesting another room is cleared. He is so quick!MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

(&) hugs and condolences
(Mhags) big virtual hugs to you both.
1. I was up early today and spent the morning applying for various bits and bobs.
2. Cleaned out the animals, 3 lots of animal bedding washing later.
3. I started on tidying and maintaining the greenhouse which was quite relaxing, though I did start dreaming of a poly tunnel, I only got part of the way through as I had just reached the point where I need to clear off the shelves onto the lawn when it started to turn very cold, so it must go on the to do list for when the cold “day” passes.
4. I made egg mayo for lunch, and tonight will be proper hm curry with turmeric rice and sides, food planning is back in full scale after a kitchen disaster last night of my food planning still being frozen solid.
Banking 5.0 -
& and Mhags thinking and praying for you both.
1. A quiet day. DS2 cooked shepherds pie for tea.
2. Watching The Crown with a glass of wine. It is an excellent program.
3. Texts with DS1 girlfriend.
4. Ironing finished.
5. Thanked colleague at work for advice he had given me. Then had a random conversation which had to be explained to a bemused colleague who was listening.0 -
Thanks DD I'll track it down and have a read!0

Bedtime for me .
So, today has been and gone. Thankyou for virtual hugs and kind thoughts, they are all appreciated.
Wrote a list in my bullet journal...all but one thing done ( which was de cobwebbing hall...they will still be there tomorrow)
OH not so good today so I just quietly pottered around.
Lovely handyman came and has agreed to do some gardening for me, a couple of hours every couple of weeks to keep on top of front garden. I can manage the back.
Made a rather tasty lasagne with salad. Tomatoes picked straight from the garden.
Son bought me a twirl chocolate bar. I must get back on no sugar but need to be in right frame of mind which is probably not now!
Friend sent video of snow falling at home and friend here sent a text to say my home town was on a programme being shown here....turned TV on to see my history teacher from 1983 being interviewed!
Have a good day0 -
Morning all - on a train from london to Manchester, trying to get there before snow disruption. have a complicated meeting / travel day today (meeting in london with supervisor first thing, quick walk to Euston for train to manchester; meeting with PhD interviewee this pm; train back home in time for DS school meeting this evening.)
Hugs to all, but especially Mhags
pleasures for yesterday. There aren't many - one of those trying days that happen every so often - frustration with DS, his teacher and his UCAS form and the girl on school reception (to whome I nearly said "what even is the point of you"); the dishwasher broke; I was trying to get housework done but dust affects my sinuses so had to keep stopping as i felt sick (you'd think it would make me do it more, eh?); then found out that a good friend has stage 3 prostate cancer
Let's see
1. Had a facepack and a bath. Watched the first episode of Taboo
2. THe housework is, mostly, done. Just a hoover round to do
3. OH put the gloss on the woodwork in the kitchen, just two coats on the dining room part walls then it's done.:T
4. Did some knitting watching half of "To walk invisible" from christmas
5. yummy HM sourdough toast with avo and bacon. My new favourite thing.
There not so hard after all.
Stay safe, folksI wanna be in the room where it happens0
