Well bop ask this gang a question and what d'you expect? Surely not sensible answers :rotfl:
Mmmm champagne & I'm on tea and archers
    1) cleared my desk yesterday. Still tidy :-)
    2) lovely student came to see me. She's from Saudi. I'm going in April and she's going to sort me an abaya.
    3) Lunch was omg these veg are for composting if they don't go in the slow cooker right now with some almond flakes. Delicious
    4) 4 of us went for a walk round the arboretum. Good to blow some cobwebs away
    5) 2017 is the year of the hygge. I've been doing a #30 days of hygge since 1st. Today's challenge I decided to do as a poem. i do love writing pastiches and haven't written one for ages.

#10 hygge - things that make me happy

Candles and blankets and thick woolly slippers,
Toast by the fire side with lightly mashed kippers
Opera with friends where the fat lady sings
These are a few of my favourite things

Reading while soaking in bubble-bath scented
Glasses of grape juice (you’ll find it’s fermented!)
Postcards and parcels the nice postie brings
These are a few of my favourite things

Meeting with friends to play board games aplenty
Dancing around like I’m no more than twenty
Family meals where we’re dining like kings
These are a few of my favourite things

When the wind bites, when the work stings
    When I’m feeling sad
I simply remember my best Hygge things,
And then I don't feel so bad.

I like that, DD! I bought a book on hygge (can't remember the title and I'm too hygged under my duvet and hwb to walk to the bookcase and find out!)

    Pleasures for today:

    1) Had completely different timetable from usual and got to help with cooking! Was given bags of all the students peelings and offcuts for the hens.

    2) Nice email from bigger son's school again. He had mock exams in English and History today and said they were fine.

    3) Went to see my school friend after work for a cup of tea.

    4) Smaller son's tantrum this evening was short lived - he only threw the little thing that holds the washing machine liquid and he apologised later. Bigger son was on better form than over the last few days.

    5) Healthy eating continues. Have dropped from 13 stones 6 to just below 13 stones since the New Year.

    6) Enjoyed watching 24 Hours in A and E.

    7) Have been boosting smaller son's English this week in the bedtime quizzes (they like a quiz, I'm not being mean by testing them at 9.30!) We had onomatopoeia, pronouns etc tonight and he could even give me a pathetic fallacy! He must have missed out on all this stuff when he was between schools but he's pretty much up to speed now.

    8) Have put some yoghurt on with the flask right by the stove to keep it warm.

    Evening all :)

    Five pleasures for Tuesday:

    1. NSD.

    2. Had a brainwave and put a tray out in the kitchen this evening with things on it like the last couple of mince pies from Christmas, the 80%-eaten packs of cereal that have accumulated in the cupboard, the brioche I defrosted this morning which nobody ate for breakfast, the two most tired looking apples from the fruit bowl etc. so that my DSs know where to head first when they get hungry. There is a post-it note saying 'eat this up' first. Yet to see if it works but I reckon the theory is good. :) If it does work, I'm going to keep it going so that things nearing their best befores get eaten sooner rather than later.

    3. Treated myself to some crisps. Haven't had any in months.

    4. Kind person is giving us their cast-off telly.

    5. Sold some books s/h.

    Sweet dreams

    B x

    1. A couple of NSD in a row.

    2. Good day at work.
There was an opportunity to email all concerned about a problem with my opinion and so hopefully it won't be totally ignored. There are a couple of solutions to the problem and the manager wants the more complicated, costly solution.

    3. Tea of chicken(from freezer) veg and potatoes. Used up the veg which iwas past its best. It was tasty.

    4. DH went food shopping and means that I don't have to. He managed to buy sufficient and enough variety that I don't need to do a top up shop which is great.

    5. Lit my candles - am using and enjoying them on a regular basis and not just at weekends.

  • AMPERSAND I'm so sorry for your loss, there has been so much sadness for you of late I just want to send you a hug!!!

DD what is the title of the Hygge Thread? I've looked at the forum titles and can't see anything that might be it and I'd really like a little browse xxx.

Hugs Ampersand - so sorry for your loss

Hygge - when i went to Stockholm for work, I came down to breakfast in the hotel one day and it was snowing, fairly dark, Frank Sinatra was playing softly and there were red tea light holders lit on the tables. That, which isn't really hygge, is what i think of.

    Pleasures for yesterday

    1. up and early train to London, just to pick up a book i forgot to collect on Friday. But did an hours work on the train. OH was on the train also but was in the driver's cab as he'd arranged a cab ride for someone
    2. He and i walked to the university but had breakfast at a lovely cafe in Marylebone (high st, not station). it was  expensive, but fresh and natural and delicious (sweet potato, lentil and oat cakes, topped with avo, spinach and a poached egg).
    3. he and i then caught the 10.00 ish train back from Marylebone. we were in London for just over an hour :rotfl: but the train back was 2 hours so I managed 3 hours concentrated work in very pleasant surroundings :T
    4. Watched Ricky Tomlinson's "Who do you think you are" with DS as we missed it before christmas.
    5. DS and i had left over roast dinner that had been frozen. Delicious beef and no prep.

Have a sort-of day off today as i have sent work to London for reading in prep for a meeting tomorrow. Time to get the house straight and i will catch up some time on Saturday or Sunday while OH continues decorating.

Am treating myself to a face pack and bath soak now :T

    have a great day
I wanna be in the room where it happens
