    Pleasures for the weekend:

    Saturday

    1) A lie in.

    2) Cleaning - changed the beds, loads of washing, dusting etc.

    3) Brother came round for tea.

    4) Batch cooking of soup and veg shepherd's pies.

    5) Watched Casualty.

    Sunday

    1) A lie in.

    2) Nearly all my Ebay sales sold and are wrapped up ready for the post office tomorrow.

    3) Cleaned the stairs and steam mopped the floors downstairs.

    4) Went to Sainsburys.

    5) Went to my brother's where he tried to mend the driver's window of my car.

    6) Took brother's dog for a walk.

Bigger son not very good. He said he went to his friend's yesterday, so I made the most of that. Then he said the girl he likes was there and he "realised she would never be interested in me" and he walked out and back to his father's as he was crying. He hasn't spoken to me since saying that apart from to tell me he will be truanting again.

    Evening all :)

Mhags, lovely that your hubby is home. :)

    Five more pleasures for Sunday:

    1. ...And another NSD and day of diet. Might have to interrupt the run of NSDs tomorrow because we'll probably need a few essentials like milk.

    2. Decluttered some of a huge pile of magazines which I couldn't just dump until I'd extracted a few articles for some research I'm doing. It ended up being a very distracting job because I kept stopping to read other interesting articles which was fun.

    3. Went to see my parents with DS1 and we stayed for a good natter and cuppa. Lots of positives.

    4. A good 'putting the world to rights' chat with DS1 a bit later.

    5. Watching the programme about polar bears on iplayer while I made supper and did the washing up.

    Sweet dreams

Dfv a very fine breakfast in the very fine great hall where Harry Potter meals were filmed
& found a hyacinth vase during today's decluttering. Guess I'm too late for this year? Can imagine the smell though yum
Quick 5 cos it's now tomorrow which means I'm teaching today
    1) won £25 on the premium bonds. Really that was Saturday but forgot. Due to throwing out letter tray (it was a clutter hot spot) have actually already dealt with the form hooray
    2) epiphany service so trees still up at church. Mr piano carried one of the kings to the nativity. I did mention to the provost since it's gone 12th night we can keep the trees up till candlemas (2nd Feb). He said no :-(
    3) then lunch with mr piano, mr piano's ex and mr lawyer. Mr piano was supposed to be going to nabucco in St. Andrews (live from met but may have been an encore, Domingo singing lead) but with his ex up he gave me his ticket
    4) mr piano kindly gave me and mr lawyer a lift over. sarnies and soup at interval then back on the bus. Since mr lawyer refused any money for the ticket I paid for the bus back to the Dundee and thence the taxi
    5) finished decluttering office for mr decorator to start tomorrow, phew exhausting, but another 5 bags to got to dump / cs / recycle yay

    1. 30 more jars of bergamot marmalade finished. H-m labels printed, chopped, not stuck on yet. Might happen sometime, no - WILL happen early tmrw, as we learnt today that Mara rains have failed, meaning food short, or priced beyond reach. New Archbishop shy to ask.

    2. Cabin Pressure is always a pleasure. We just had Cremona again. We can have it again and again and again, as far as & is concerned.

is no anti-climax, even to CP..
How come & has never heard of '1966 and All That' before? Lush big lorfs stuff, Gloomsbury precursor overtones.

    3. Meriva and & continue learning each other's curves. A few more Hmmmms today. At Trumpy carboot, Spits patron delighted to see it and suggested & might no longer be in Operation Overload on Thursdays. & advised him that space creation is one of her virtual talents. More odd and quirky finds during today's visit, quick and short 'cos....

    4. ...new pattern[enforced] of benefice services meant earlier kick-off. Loads more people, all ages. VG and brilliant sermon. & surfed a sudden brainwave and pic was taken of & and curate where we sat/chatted with person x a few mths ago. That pic now em'd to Oz family of person x, as trial date set again.

    5. .This Thread and this forum and Martin Lewis.

    Good day yesterday.

    1. Spent time in the garden. DH cut some trees down. I helped move cut branches to where I wanted to store them.

    2. Lunch with friends. Good catch up as hadn't seen them in a year!
    Much laughter which was needed.

    3. Finished the ironing pile and mended a couple of things that needed it. Jobs I had been putting off so pleased done.

    4. Watched 2episodes of The Crown on Netflix. I really enjoyed it but was shocked at how little DS2 knew about that period.

    5. Spoke with DS1 on phone as wanted cooking advice. He seemed to be ok.

It was a feel good day and relaxing .

    Good evenings

I've had a day most industrious and satisfying.

Has been a bit cooler (28o) and more bearable.

Downstairs all hoovered and floors washed, bathrooms cleaned. Cleaned tiles behind stove top....a very forgiving shade of beige but needing done. Washing and ironing up to date...all done accompanied by sounds of the 80's on radio 2...reliving my not very misspent youth!

We had 2 sets of nurses in. One from hospital community team and one from palliative care. Not so fond of PC one...he is very dry, doesn't show the love for my dog ( we always ask if whoever comes in minds dogs ( usually they are fine ) then he is put in his bed ) though he has a dog anyway this afternoon we tell him how OH was quite unwell over Christmas week and then in hospital all last week and only out on Saturday, he writes everything down asks various questions ...how are your bowels? How are you sleeping? Are you nauseous ? ....which are all relevant questions ...then he asks " so have you still been getting out and about?" ....OH and I just look at each other ...aye! Managed a day trip to A&E and a week's stay in the city! Deep inwardly sigh!

We went to next town shopping mall to buy a new kettle, current one has been leaking water when you pour...not ideal when it's just boiled! May also have bought some RTC christmas baubles in gorgeous shades of blue.

Did a bit in the garden. Repotted my hydrangeas at front porch pots.
I cut back garden grass and DD1 did the strips at side and front (x2 ) and the responsibility of us not council to maintain. OH hedge-cut the hazel and ferns in our back pergola , they've sprouted in the heavy rain and hot sun.

    Started a new book.

Very early start to our day tomorrow, to be at hospital for 7am so it will be an early night for me.

Have a lovely day...back to school in Scotland today!
Back to school in all the shops here too...another few weeks off but shops full of uniforms, books and pencil cases.

Mhags, you've had several U for Unmarked/F for Fail visits from that PC(not)staffer.

One of your more snr medics made good on a botched arrangement arising from that person as I recall.

Can you not say something somewhere to someone? As much as you and OH can synchronise raised eyebrows, neither of you needs this sort of "help" right now.

It must also clunk in anticipation of each visit from that person.

& at the moment our Community Palliative Care team send in a nurse every couple of weeks. They assess our needs by going through a series of questions that they always ask. It's on their laptops. Most nurses are friendly and kind. He is neither unfriendly or unkind just very matter of fact. We do not know who is coming until the morning of appointment when they call to confirm their visit.

We will need every bit of help we can get as time progresses and our needs increase so I would never ostracise a team member. I am hopeful he will step up ! I don't think he would be employed by such a specialist team if he did not have particular skills. Just because he doesn't love Haggis as much as we do should not be a reason not to have him in !

I was just having a bit of a vent / bit of a laugh as I use this forum to diarise my days.

Our Community Palliative Care Team are a different organisation from the Palliative Pain Team who have been caring for us at hospital. We are just heading out to see them this very morning for a bright and early start at 7am in the city!

We just keep keeping on, it's all we can do and we take the good and the bad days. I'm grateful that we can still share a look and know exactly what each other is thinking.....even if it is ' what a plonker'

Right , I'd better take a much loved by us dog out and start the day...it's still dark!

Evening all - first post for 5 days due to marking.

    Pleasures since then

    1. Did the marking - a few hundred quid earned which will pay towards the conference i am procrastinating here from writing the abstract for :D i won't be volunteering for too much of the dreaded marking, that's for sure
    2. DD has gone back to uni. I love her to bits, but there comes a point where she has to go. Now i miss her :p we had a nice, if busy day taking her back. On the train with two mahoosive suitcases, then did her shopping, then back to London where we had dinner at Wagamamas and then went to
    3. Charlie and the chocolate factory. Which i've seen in many forms over the years - old film, new film, read the book to the kids, and DD was Willy Wonka in various productions over the years - but his was charming and magical.
    4. On the train back to Sarfend (it was too late for me to get home. We were discussing how good Willy wonka was and looked him up. Just as i said his name a man came into the compartment and said "oh, I used to live with him - have you just been to see Charlie?" He is a former actor who gave DD some good advice. Small world.
    5. Up early on Friday and early train to London, nipped to the uni to take a book back and on the train home in time to go out to lunch with friend
6 then the plumber came and mended a broken radiator. Cost £15 - it's been broken for 2 years :o I can now move in and work in there - freeing up the dining room
    7. Which OH is painting, together with the kitchen. Kitchen pretty well done. :T
    8. Dinner with friends on saturday night - luckily as we didn't have a kitchen
9 and leftover takeaway and restaurant curries yesterday - was lish
    10. lunch with another friend today.

(It's all about the food you know - tum has been rubbed lots :D)

Right, that abstract - have a good evening all
I wanna be in the room where it happens
