1) Day spent with Zebra et al yesterday, much hilarity, many cuddles, much playing, chatting, laughing and small boy enjoying opening his presents from Oma and Opa and loving everything in them. He insisted on wearing his new pyjamas all day, bless him.
2) Finding Tesco almost empty this morning when we popped in for the last few fresh things we needed.
3)Just had delicious Goulasch and noodlesfor lunch with German red cabbage, gherkins and soured cream. Just right to start Christmas with.
4) Above lunch was followed by a rather lovely Apple Strudel flavoured coffee!
5) Midnight service at the Cathedral this evening after wander round the area when it gets dark to see all the windows in the Community Advent Calendar that will be lit up for the last time, beautiful.0 -
Christmas eve pleasures.....
1. realising I wasn't going to get all the jobs done that I wanted to and not stressing about it.
2. leftover cold roast beef & hot horseradish sandwiches for lunch
3. dry day not too windy here in the south - had a walk to the co-op and bought fresh salad & milk and some snacky treats for tonight and tomorrow with one of my £10 vouchers. If only I had room in my freezer I would buy their turkey crown meal deal for £10 too.
4. all wrapping done - such a chore when your hands don't work well with scissors - glad its done
5. ex-FIL came round for cuppa and catch up. Still keep in touch and lovely to see him doing so well now he has had electrodes in his brain to control his tremors, its amazing.
Thanks to you all for your company over the past 12 months, keeps me going sometimes. Christmas cheer to all, good wishes to those who don't do Christmas, enjoy your day x

1. Not long In from Crib Service, much add-on Vicar+Curate chat Because & has seen pics of person's ptnr+children, & suddenly realised they were there, in the crowded out, family-packed Church. Sensed the children before realising it WAS them, because &eyes always go first to the place where person sat on the Sunday he found his way to us. Shortly, I will be able to write/phone the Oz family, who are desperate re:situ., missing person and little ones from their lives. It is the birthday of mainstay of person's Oz family, so this will be wonderful, if bittersweet.
2. & is a sidesperson apparently. Told tonight - 'hope you don't mind.'. Knew/Know nothing about it, had better read up. Don't think self fit and proper at all, have entirely valid doubts re:suitability[wiki, &'s on her way, storm/hurricane personae+duties permitting]. Have long seen the necessity of supporting change as part of a survival team. Reading/hearing this week's plummeting attendance news, in a world of bonkers and lunatics, makes real life i.e. A Real Life, all the more a beautiful gift and intelligent discipline, requiring vocational, stable mentors/teachers and recognition of this.
3. Mid-arvo emporium was sardine-style, punters all arriving late, & included, let it be admitted. Fillet steak, 79p, will be &'s crimbo eve din, or not. & will choose. So many, too many similar, but & held back - have more than enough - but helped some things on to others who couldn't get near..
4. Day began in town of gown, from PnR, which was near deserted! Astounding. List knocked off smoothly, 'cept for Library, which shut v. early. Will try and sort online after this. Nothing worked this a.m.
5. Fairy drop-In sleighed via village friend, en rte back to crib service. All marvellous. Bags of goodies exchanged:-) Scotsdale's bogof lunch is a deffo. YES:-)

&, your post jogged my memories of lovely midnight mass.
1. I was up early but distracted by film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory, the original of course.
2. I was asked to order something for DF, not urgent but it arrived today I was surprised when the courier arrived at how quick it was.
3. I put the clean bedding on, ran the hoover over the house, and cleaned up the oven shelves.:p
4. Wrapped up DH’s gifts, and need to glitter up my hm gift.:)
5. Took some time for hair, face and nails.
6. Time to look at the Norad tracker.
7. I went along to Mr T as I remembered that all of the meat had expiry on Christmas eve so thought I would try. Wow serious success, I left loads as I only went for meat, but the freezers are now stuffed. Two full 5 pound chickens @ 50p, various packs of sausages 12p, chicken, pork, beef, burgers, stewing steak etc etc, the freezers are heaving I paid about 12p to 30p each the whole lot for just over £15. :money: I am amazed I know we needed it but I always feel guilty spending any money at the moment but that can keep us fed for the next few months. Phew very happy with that. I just parked myself out of the way near the reduction area and a few really lovely people got chatting as they were wondering why I didn’t take the pre packed meals and other various bits, I was saying I am just here for meat and ham, of which there was just so much for everyone, and I had a rough idea of how much the freezer can take. Of course taking the turkey out had given me a drawer.:rotfl:
8. When I got back DH had prepared all of the bits for tomorrow, stuffing baked, pigs in blankets baked, all veg and potatoes par boiled. We are prepared I reckon0 -
I think we felt the same re:rtc's today, pk - and Thank you for the Norad Tracker:-)
Had to see what it was and - oooh! Like 'the heat sensors picking up the signature of the bright red of Rudolph's nose'.
Just completed and palm-of-hand glossed the royal icing of cake no.3 again. Does anyone else do this? - very old-style!
All & thanks seem to be sticking on this page - pressie already:-)

Merry Christmas, everyone!
So glad, MHags, that you are now all part way through Christmas number 2.
Pleasures for today (Christmas Eve!)
1) Got all jobs done. That will never happen again!
2) Went to see the hens with a few grapes.
3) My school friend came over for lunch.
4) Picked sons up from their father's and we went to the Christmas service at 5pm.
5) After sons dropped off again :-( came back and have been watching television in front of the fire.
6) Stockings are out on the bunkbed...0 -
Happy Christmas all
I'm still awake and waiting for DS2 to come home, him having gone out at 11.45pm to visit a friend in the village. Said he wouldn't be long... hmm.
Five pleasures:
1. Meanwhile, I've been clearing up the sitting room and my work space, shredding/filing paper as one does on Xmas eve turning the wait into a pleasure.
2. Watching the film 'The minimalists' with DS1 on Netflix. It was just really a confirmation of what I new already but it was good hearing his take on the film and the fact that he thought much of the way we live fitted with the ethos even though we still have a lot of stuff. I can see it's going to be a good prompt for more conversations over the coming weeks.
3. Lovely afternoon/evening with my parents, relaxed chatting, lots of good food. Came home with a goody bag.
4. DS1 did the washing up when we got back from visiting them without me even mentioning it.
5. Quiet cuppa in the dark except for firelight and tree lights. Special.
Sweet dreams

(Am really hoping you get that train set this year BoP)

Merry Christmas one and all from the land of far too much heat.
We are at the 'stuffed' stage of the day.
Everyone up very early , opened gifts and then everyone apart from the dog and me went back to bed.
Him and I went a nice walk before it got too hot.
OH has been quite poorly , effects of chemo have well and truly kicked in. He managed to get up and joined us at the table. He managed some trifle but that was all.
For Christmas dinner we had cold meats; Turkey, ham and salami.
Potato salad, pasta salad, coleslaw. Salad. Cranberry sauce and some mini roast potatoes. All very yummy . For pudding was trifle and pavlova.
My gifts included a fitbit, pyjamas....I always buy everyone else Pjs so was nice to get my own!, a pasta necklace...The kids had ordered me a necklace which hadn't arrived so DD1 made me one with pasta quils and wool! Two new recipe books. DD1 had also made a charity purchase of 40 polio vaccines for us and 20 school jotters for her brother and sister . We all got a cinema ticket so we can all go together.
Have a lovely day whatever you are doing and whoever you are spending it with. I hope you all have a stress free day and enjoy it.0 -
5 Hammer out, felt on shed was blown. Fixed. Raffles was up and helping. Merry boooooming Xmas!
4 Raffles had to placed inn protective custody inn the utility. As a good food detector, he was after the salmon inn Edinburgh breakfast. Perfect start.
3 Just cut the salmon up for dinner. No cold turkey. Fish and chips with peas. No sprouts either!
2 Soon time to open presents. I have fingered them good and proper, do I think it should be there this year.
May you plate be filled with plenty, and your glass overflow. Now be grateful and merry.
and this is where BoP was the other night.
