Oh no. Has I upset DD Bah Humbug! I is normally quite snug with DDs! About 34 as well! Not that I have preferences!
5 Oh what a storm that is over a bit of dropped chocolate. Flake or Double Decker. No missed it. Well someone from the self oppressed community was upset about a dark ice cream dropping on white leather! I saw it. I have watched it again and cannot see anything.
4 Oh, and BT, where I closed my account for business last month have finally closed it. And my log in to watch the Rugby has gone and my business one is still there! Oh well that is technology for you.
3 And offs to town this very morning about bank and setting up order of standing on my business account. Is asking for account card my other business, which I closed, see 4. Oh, not seen that before. Merry Christmas. I got there at the due time, 9 inn the morning and was front of queue. That one is sore ted! The telephonic sport one is not, yet!
2 Day I was at the quack and has got off them pills at last and reverted to the ones that are good for you. Usual BoP rules. It hurts them more than it hurts me!
The world is full of differences. if your self oppression prevents you from understanding this, then I will just walk on by. Not ignorantly of your difference, but knowing that your pity is for yourself.0 -
I will try for 5, though I am feel sorry for myself since yesterday when some cold / fever type bug decide to take hold of me! Awful restless sleep last night.
1. Lovely long phone call with my youngest and girlfriend who decided to spend the holiday overseas in Netherlands where he has friends from working there.
2. A brief walk at the beach really cheered me up and blew some of the snot and stuffiness away. I felt a lot better for getting out.
3. Did a stock take of the freezer, cupboards and fridge and have enough there for a short zombie take over, more so at least a few weeks of easy menu planning with minimal shopping.
4. Managed to fit into my nicest fitted skirt without trouble pulling the zip up. A bit snug, but it still fits!
5. Thorough check over on online banking and all in the black...it's balancing as planned. Started a new page in my wee household book to reflect that and keep the next few weeks outgoings as low as they'll go.
I must make it a habit to pop I in here and note my days old style pleasures x0 -
Good morning from the land where there has just been too much overnight heat to sleep. It was 28o at 6am when I finally just got up. Poor hot dog is enjoying a block of ice to crunch on after his breakfast. Aircon has been cranked up again ( don't keep it on overnight as its in the dining room of all places and just reaches into the front room if you sit at the right angle! )
Much thunderstorms are forecast so hoping that clears the air and of course waters the garden for free.
Yesterday was spent in our local A&E department from 8.30am to 4.30pm. Our Cancer hospital was too full apparently and we had to go there . Now, whilst OH was adequately looked after , they don't have his history to hand which is frustrating for us and for them. He had taken a bad reaction to new dosage of chemotherapy so to stop that meantime.
Our lovely pharmacist who has collated what we have spent there and at Cancer hospital pharmacy...we are well over the limit! We should get a refund. And all prescriptions at $6.20...until the end of the year ...yes for the next 3 days! I need to go to the office of doom aka Medicare and fill out some more forms and apply for refund.
Then we shall keep a better eye on what's being spent next year.
Apparently if you spend $1400 (approx) in a calendar year you then go on to the lower payment for rest of year . We are way above that but nobody told us. Sigh! But we know now for future use.
Coming home together instead of him having to stay overnight , which I think would have ( and probably should have ) happened if there had been a room at the inn. Although we are both Mr and Mrs Grumpy this morning as neither have slept well ( though insisting the other did!) due to the heat!
I'm hoping to start taking down front room tree today ...if I can get a blast of cool air from the air con...stand at the right angle!
Sleep well!0 -
Evening all (and morning mhags
- that medicine bill is shocking, it's such a contrast to the NHS. I hope you get a massssive refund and that thunderstorm as well
.
Five pleasures since my last post:
1. DS1 and I have been sorting through cupboards full of books that need to be sold. We've had a couple of major culls but home-educating was a magnet for hoarding resources and we're still awash. They have got to go! I spent today starting to look at book selling sites and working out what might have any resale value before I give the rest away.
2. Driving to the recycling centre in sepia-grey fog at almost-dusk which was a bit scary but also rather beautiful and surreal because of the strange colour of it. It was like I imagine Dickens' London to have been. Fortunately, there were few other drivers around so it wasn't too worrisome.
3. The simplicity of going outside to get a basket of logs then lighting a lovely hot fire. Very grateful to have the wood pile.
4. Almost used up the end of the smoked salmon from Xmas by making (wheat free) spaghetti with cream cheese and salmon stired through it plus a green salad for my solo supper. It's become my favourite fast food I think.
5. The last of the clementines.
Sweet dreams

Pleasures for today (Wednesday - I think)
1) A lie in.
2) Tried to get sons' hair cuts but no barbers open in small town. Off to bigger town so they could spend vouchers.
3) Had lunch in Subway but card refused in their machine. Popped over the road (literally) to my bank where they said Subway had shown up as taking money fraudulently (?) Helpful man in there and new card ordered.
4) Back to car to see parking ticket on window and man standing looking at his notepad. He pulled the ticket off the windscreen and we thought it was so he could hand it to us. But no! He said, "You were lucky - I was just about to take the photo". :-)
5) Smaller son made me laugh in Sainsburys. He said, "Can we just buy Heinz soup - I don't want one of those eccentric ones"!
6) Bigger son finally started doing his maths homework. I'm not sure I'm offering much help.
7) Smaller son has been playing online with his friends and it is funny to hear one side of their conversation.
8) In bed with 1hwb now.0 -
On the fourth day of xmas
1) my gut is returning to normal. Hooray. Very thankful I normally have a well-behaved gut
2) decided to take dogs for short walk. All went well and decided to go a bit further a ended up at mum's (normally only 10 minutes walk but this is the first time I've actually walked the dogs since 12th Dec!)
3) lovely time with mum. Tuna sarnie yum
4) am now allowed to cook again - celebrated by making an apple crumble
5) and made a snug hygge alcove in my bedroom. We had an electric fire, looks like an old stove, languishing unloved. Now sits proudly in my alcove with lovely books on top, snuggy blanket on my Lloyd loom chair. Have also discovered my long lost sheepskin mitts an sheepskin gloves, several extendable umbrellas and some cosy hats and scarves.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

No Spitalfields today, as & continues attempts to arrange all sorts.
Glad to see some normals returning for you, dd and you, Frith and sons.
This from phone, from bed. A bit of lazy so what? going on here.
1. Coffee and brekkers started in kitchen, just finished au lit.
2. Rubbish out at 6, down total whiteout frozen ice paths. All over &obile and moment's gladness, thinking Hooray, didn't have to spend half hour scraping that pre-2am:-)
3. Caved. No amount of Haynes reading, or other, restored fan/heater lack - so phoned fenboys apologetically. No prob. Ignorant & did not know that coolant/ antifreeze were interchangeable terms. Fenboy snr always explains car things so & understands.
Late venture>town of horse. Stuff duly bought. Will administer in a while, with fingers x'd. Good timing. More absurd 2p, 3p, 4p, 7p rtc's were just being wheeled out as & left. Spent 54p. =d 2 full bags, dropped at friend's on way back. Oh. Just realise, haven't told yet. Should be discovered by now:-)
4. Jenny wren and a dark smoky green sheen ?blackbird? visiting, singing daily, feeding, in sun.
5. Thinking time. Reflection time. Wonder if prayer brekkie is on today? Big letter and the annual Scottish calendar sent>NZ yesterday. Even phone to France worked briefly, to great relief of both parties. "Tried hundred of times" and "at least I know you're alive!" theme ex France, then line gone again. No phone since.

A few people passed on yesterday, but because they are not none entities, you forgot about them! Never mind, I fear that Kenny or Paul are pretty close! No one will step in and do something, so ...
5 Gosh what an exit 2016 is having on ... And my train set never arrived as well. The world has gone bonkers!
4 Watched a Jack last night. Apartment. I never realised how easy it was to cheat on the ...
3 Big Sis, the one that makes the rules but BoP does not follow has bought her tribe up and we chatted over coffee and cakes. She again refused the cake of Christmas that has a full blended malt soaked into it! No jam, tarts were consumed.
2 Nite the cans of paint are readied for town with the owl and !!!!! cat. Town is it, and no big Warster train this week. I thinks Warster is isolated! More later and I will be stonkers!
As if you care when you found out? But when your mum came calling, you were listening0 -
What ho all!
Seasons whatnots to everyone - and whether that's a swig of fizz, another chunk of cake, a cuddly hwb or something that might have been actionable had Breach Of Promise still existed, I leave to your imaginations.
OS Pleasures recently
That village feeling at the dentist, hearing the local supermarket has special wrapped carrots for Rudolph for children-hauled-shopping to take home. Happy croons from the reception staff at amended plans for their routes home!
That amidst a tsunami of dropped Denby not everything shattered (just the two pieces I really gave a hoot about in that box) & that a gruesome Charles & Di mug, (one of a half dozen unspeakable unbreakables) survived to uphold tradition.
I found the little glass bottles I'd squirrelled away (even from myself!) & they are now glowing gently filled with ginger syrup for all who've had it &/or will get coughs & lurgies. There's even a bottle for me! (And the rest of the batch & a lemon syrup too. I may make a mint one for the novelty & colour. [Worryingly, they *all* look like urine samples - I must get some food colouring for another year...])
I've moved a book of stamps I found from the car into the (warmer, drier) house. In tucking them away, I found several other books - virtue truly its own reward! [That many went on thank you letters added a flavourful pinch of irony.]
My mother-in-law is storm watching with a rueful & active curiosity - sharing it's name gives her an additional, faintly proprietary, interest!
"Depends if son has sneaked a soup" - imagining Michael Bentine-esque feet pattering, a muffled slurp & the clonk of can in recycling... My imagination gets far too much exercise! [Lad does do a lovely soup though & there was still enough for all.]
Grinning at "the days were accomplished that she should be brought forth with child" - oh yes indeed - even the blokes who wrote the gospels grasped that those last days take a lot of getting through! [Three Rousing Cheeses, old pal made a Grandma by the early arrival of perfectly healthy young John, dab on the 25th Dec rather than mid Jan as foretold.]
My little windup radio is playing the Nine Lessons and Carols with delightful clarity & no pondering over battery life.
Startling outbreak of domestic virtue in offspring - floors are bring cleared, "stuff" put away, sundry fetchings & carryings occurring with delightfully little backchat or fraternal brangling. You might think there was something they were anticipating...
Clean bed linens. Bonus, with festive pattern which I love & himself sneers at somewhat. Still, it's the right duvet cover to stuff stockings on!
When desperately searching for balloons, My Accomplice serenely assures me they're in my room. I leave that to him to prove. Me, I've stockings to stuff while listening to Mock the Week... [Shock! Accomplice Wrong! So stockings "topped" with nets of chocolate coins instead.]
"Gormless lummox!" - good to hear husband in full Chef mode even if he keeps us four hopping like frogs on a griddle. We will land, besides heaped plates of deliciousness, eventually. [Gosh, I'm Full. Is this how an overstuffed toy feels?!]
Roast veg soup plans dashed on the appetites of teenagers... There's Not Even Gravy left.
"Root beer! Mum's an alkie...." Is there any critter more judgemental than a teenager?! (Other than a certain president-elect?)
Dr.Who & a superhero? OhGoodHeavens. Saved for me by the "wet" "I prefer mild-mannered" quip.
Three more sistema mugs discounted in the boxing day sales - I have a near rainbow now! They make the whole eschewing bit So Much Easier.
Did anyone else switch on 'Madagascar' expecting animation? Ahem. My son shook his head at my "oh"... Still, smashing to knit to. (I do not commend mixing pink champagne & knitting needles, as a lifetyle hint for 2017.)
Son grousing about the latest Ghostbusters - "wimminism"....
Ooops. I nearly freaked at the sight of son with champagne flute a-fizz, & it turns out he's drinking Irn Bru... <blush, but they're laughing So Hard - that will be recalled at my funeral...>
"Dear Aunt Crazy", "I bought a tool." (oh gods) - sons writing thank you letters... Still, bentwood chair, whip & pistol left in usual places, Husband Took Charge!
Boredom fuels creativity! I frogged a slightly felted woollen beanie & knitted mittens by guess-&-stubbornness. (Patterns scare me.) Admirably unique. Then found a single ball of another colour wool & used the leftover wool from the mittens to make a replacement coordinating beanie, but altogther nicer.
The "whooop!" of delight as son realises I have resupplied on his beloved pistachios. He's so pleased, he's ready to cooperate with (or just smile & ignore) my "And get the shells In The Bin!".
As more boredom fuels creativity in others, I realise Just How Bunged Up dear husband must be - I'm 10 yards away from the hammer & my eardrums are prickling.
Ah. Noises off indicate sons have reached a definite failure to agree over something - will chuck a bucket of water over one shortly. Then feed them Again.
Hugs, blessings, brews, fizz, remedies, hwbs, health & strength to all!0 -
Waves to Dfv. Ouch about the Denby.
On the 5th day of Christmas tummy a bit upset again (oops may have been the chocolate!) but
1) discovered the moonstone. Watched first 2 episodes
2) another car load to the dump (and now 5 bags waiting for cs)
3) found 2 paper balloon shades still in their wrappings, one is now hanging in my lovely bedroom, other destined for main guest room
4) ds has helped shift furniture and I now have both pine bedside cabinets in my room plus dd2's small white dressing table
5) turkey and leek soup for lunch very yummy. Last of the turkey last of the stock. Have frozen the last 4 portions.
Dd2 coming home tomorrow for 5 days which will be lovely.
Am considering buying a small record player for my bedroom. Mr piano bought me black star for xmas, and of course I've still got all my other Bowies. Anyone any recommendations?MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025
