mineallmine - so sorry to hear about your friend. My sister died 18 months ago, she had leukaemia. It was such a rapid and ravaging deterioration. She actually died on what was supposed to be her wedding day.
I had a shocking and upsetting call from my other sister last night to say that she had found a lump on her breast. She is having it further looked at this wednesday - so I am just hoping that it turns out to be nothing.
So, my five for yesterday:
1) That my sister sounds very positive despite everything. Deep down, she is convinced that it will be okay. I really hope her instinct is right.
2) Back at Sports club with the boys. A nice chat with friends.
3) Into town after sports club to return some shoes. Popped into M&S to try the dine in for £10 offer for the first time ever. Looks good (having it tonight).
4) Stayed the same weight over the weekend and lost another 1lb this morning (according to the wii fit).
5) Lots of good tv last night.DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt

My 5 for yesterday:
1. Seeing my friend for a trip to the cinema.
2. Short day at work.
3. Yummy homemade curry for tea.
4. Dental checkup (not a pleasure) - but being told that there were no problems and that my mouth is really healthy.
5. Another lovely sunny day here in Bristol.Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
Blimus - I'm sorry to hear about your sister's news. I've got everything crossed that she's right that it's nothing to worry about.
katholicos - hope you had a good night's sleep and you're feeling better today.
GirlySquare - :rotfl:at the Iceland joke. I might have to pass that one at work today.Back after a very long break!0 -
mineallmine - so sorry for your loss, big ((HUGS)) to you and all others in need of a hug today.
I had a good weekend filled with pleasures, too many to list in fact! so here are mine for yesterday:
- Cold is gone and feel back to normal and well.
- DD had her day out with inlaws. It was the last time inlaws will have DD for months as they go back to France on wednesday and won't be back until the end of september, lucky things!
- Did some more holiday clothes shopping, although a few things are a little *ahem* snug, so they will be going back to the shop. Met Dh for lunch (which probably didn't help the snugness of my new clothes!) which was lovely.
- Gorgeous weather again. Managed to sit outside and enjoy it for 5 minutes with a coffee (not very OS, but I bought my first Starbucks yesterday, I didn't have a clue what to choose, so I went for the first thing I recognized on the list!:o)
- DH making a to do list and actually doing it straight away (without bening nagged by me). Things like putting up and re hanging pictures and putting his tools away that have been sat in the utility room for weeks!:TValue of prizes 2010 - 2017: £8374 Wins 2022: Magic set

My 5 for today would be:
1. I am able to eat wheaty things again (been hard being off bread, I missed it so), my tummy seems to be doing well with the odd bits here and there.
2. My fruitbowl is half empty - that's good coz it means I've eaten it! Having the bowl on my deak has really increased my intake!
3. Clicking through on the Freebies board today and finding a few useful things.
4. Wearing my Super Dry trackies to work today - so comfortable!
5. Knowing I'm going to give myself a pedicure when I get hometis lush.
And one more!

Hi all
house elf, afternoon tea at Harvey Nicks sounds ever so posh! It is a great treat for birthdays, we did it for the twins' 20th birthday last year and we all had a great time (and a sugar overload!). Do you know that there is a discounted cream tea website? Here is the link: http://www.afternoontea.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=category§ionid=11&id=13&Itemid=16 Also Lastminute.com sometimes has very convenient cream teas offers!
Blimus Oreilly I hope all goes well with your sister's health.
Shadowsfall, I found that when bread was giving me trouble it was more or less a yeast, rather than wheat, problem. Eating sourdough and very good quality long, slow fermented breads solved all my "bready" problems.
Here are my pleasures for the day:
1 - Super-cheap facial at Dove spa with a voucher offer, the therapist was really great, I had 45 minutes of absolute bliss and my skin is looking so much better!
2 - Afterwards I met DD who works as a nanny near the spa place
3 - Going around the shops I found a very reduced Gap hoody, perfect for DS who always wanted one without any logo or zip. Got it!
4 - Managed to return two shower gels that I hated to Boots and got vouchers for them.
5 - Used vouchers to buy DD a shaver with bikini trimmer (go figure!) and a lovely shower gel (instead of those yukky smelly ones that I returned!).
6 - After DD finished nannying we met again and spent some (rare) time together and I bought her an ice cream, she was happy as a little kid, my sweet girl!
7 - DD's BF picked us up at the station in his car so we did not have to wait for ages for a bus.
8 - I managed to pay a credit card bill that I thought would be overdue, just in time, by calling the card company and paying with a debit card and avoiding a fee.
9 - Savouring the free haircut that I am going to have at 6pm as a model.
10 - Goes without saying, the WEATHER!
Have a great evening all xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Evening all.
Caterina - sounds like you had a lovely day. It certainly sounds like it beats work. (No, I'm not jealous...)
Shadowsfall - WD on your savings fund. :T
mollythewestie - I'm glad you've got over yourand are feeling well again.
My pleasures for today:
1) After a foggy sort of night it's been a lovely day again.
2) Popped into Waitrose at lunchtime and found it was whoopsie time - I got a big bag of shallots for 50p and some seeded muffins (the bread type, not the cake type) for 80p.
3) Took my product trial bag of crisps into work for everyone to share as there was no way I was going to be able to eat that lot on my own even if I wasn't on a diet. (And I'm very glad I didn't have more than the half dozen I tasted for the product trial - they were painfully salty and I've spent the whole afternoon drinking endless glasses of water in a futile attempt to stop feeling thirsty.)
4) A slightly guilty pleasure - deciding I'm not going to a charity event a friend invited me to tonight. She's only invited me to stop her getting into a row with her ex when they've both had a few drinks, and I'm just not in the mood to be a one-person peace-keeping force tonight.
5) Finding out on another OS thread that a dish I've always rather randomly called 'Basque eggs' really is a Basque dish.(Little things please little minds, as my mum says.
)
6) One of my sweet pepper seeds has finally germinated. :j
7) Tarte au citron for pudding tonight. (I know it's not at all diet-friendly but it's left over from the M&S meal deal, it can't be frozen, and it'll go off if I don't eat it soon. OS beats diet in this case.)
Have a nice evening, everyone.Back after a very long break!0
