Hugs Mineallmine, so sorry to hear of your loss xx

    Mine for yesterday:

    1. Got ALL washing done

    2. DD helped me make my bed, it was lovely to get into the fresh bed last night, very early as I was so tired after a late night on Saturday.

    3. Mooched about and got bits done whilst DD and friend monkeyed about in the garden

    4. Lovely, impromptu BBQ with friends up the road, with some good leftovers for today's eating :)

    5. Got everything ready for DD going back to school this morning, so hopefully we won't be rushing around like blue-bottomed flies in a few moments!

    6. Still enjoying the lack of airplanes....

Thinking of you (((mineallmine))), my deepest sympathy for your loss. As you said there is always something, and you've found something in deciding to get back in touch with old friends. Your friend would be happy to know you're going to do that

  • Hi everyone,

Mineallmine - hope you are alright, well done for achieving some pleasures in spite of what's happening.

ACEY - Hope things with your sister work out - I've a friend who won't let his ex go in his heart. He's so much better off without her, but he just won't see it.

    1. A mixed blessing to start the day. The doorbell rang and woke me, I rushed downstairs, scrabbled to find the keys, looked outside but there was no-one there. I made a cuppa, took it back to bed and looked at the clock...it was 5.50am . I realised I'd been dreaming when I remembered the doorbell battery has died and needs replacing .

Isn't this bizarre when it happens?! I've woken up next to OH and been so annoyed with him for how 'he behaved' in my dream...! Then I remember that really he doesn't deserve it at all. Had a dream about my old dog last night, he was right in front of me and I could feel his fur, the soft stuff below his ears. Been a while since I've seen him - he died years ago. Made me cry in the dream, as I was so pleased that he had come to see me.

Jexygirl - Your chicken exploits are so amusing, just wanted to say thanks for posting them :) I really miss having hens, with all their odd chickeny ways.

My 10 for the weekend and today shall be...

    1. It was very warm and sunny all day Sat and Sun. Brill.
    2. The lack of plane noise/views was really pleasant.
    3. Getting so much washing/drying done over the wknd. It's lovely!
    4. Using Soapnuts to wash most of it (apart from OHs extrordinarily dirty work stuff), they work really well, and smell amazing with Tangerine Oil!
    5. Cleaning our little house top to bottom in a day.
    6. Watching Pa and OH build a barn.
    7. My mate coming by to help out with the sewing machine - and confirming it needs a service!
    8. Dinner out with Ma, Pa and OH last night.
    9. Having that dream about my lovely dog Mac. Thank you Puppydog.
    10. Having some new projects at work to start.

Hope you are all happy and enjoying the day :)

Mineallmine- Thinking of you! Cancer is such a tough illness, it strips dignity and it can sometime seem like it overshadows the person until that is all people can see. I hope you get some time to remember the positive and funny memories of your friend, and remember the good times.

I am just in from the nurse, so will do my pleasures later.... :)

Hello all :) back again for my pleasures!

    1. The hoover broke yesterday and I had to take it to the dyson doc and he only charged me £10 to literally rebuild it- it needed a wheel a bit inside and loads of bits!
    2. Finishing the flylady days tasks... as soon as I did though the cats went round rubbing themselves on things!
    3. Finishing the grocery thread in the black..... going to reduce by £100 this month.... will see how i go!
    4. Seeing my plants peeking through the ground :) can't wait for my fruit to well fruit lol
    5. Having a lovely slap up dinner tonight- not sure what yet but know it will be mega :)

    Enjoy the day all :)

    Hi all

mineallmine, I am so very sorry for the loss of your friend.

Sparrer, thanks for sending Ollie a PM, I hope she is ok and will be back online soon, we all miss her.

Here are my pleasures for today:

1 - Woke up well rested and ready to start a new day!

2 - Weather still holding up and sunny (if a bit pale!).

3 - Long walk with a friend to go shopping with our faithful shopping trolley.

4 - Lots of amazing bargains in Aldi, wow it is much better than Lidl for variety! My friend was also amazed.

5 - Nice lunch of pasta and red lentil soup and the leftovers of fresh pineapple that needed finishing.

6 - DD and DS together cleaned the fridge for me (now I have to put everything back together, but at least I do not have to be on my knees scrubbing the mud from the back - always gets muddy because of the muddy veg from the organic box!).

7 - Anticipating the pleasure of putting some nice country music cd and ironing DH's shirts. It is always a very relaxing thing for me to do and it gives me great satisfaction to see those shirts go from crumply to neat (am I weird?).

8 - Free sample of Dove shower cream in the post.

Have a good rest of the day everybody xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    Evening all,

I am so touched by all your messages and hugs. Really touched thank you. I feel my heart has been scooped out by this. Am determined now to look for the positives:

    1. Someone at work gave me their apple, I know it's small and silly but I appreciated the sentiment.
    2. Gave a colleague some of my toiletry stash.
    3. Picked up some reduced ready meals so I didn't need to think about meal planning tonight.

Have a relaxing evening all :A
:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

Less things. Less stuff. More life.

    Evening all,

Mineallmine - so sorry to hear about your friend... I can't imagine how hard it much be

Got through my first day back at work and... phew I am exhausted!

    1) My new boss (our director) has confirmed that my promotion will be permanent, even when my old boss comes back from maternity :)

    2) To go with the above... I have a small pay rise... not sure what it is except that it will be very small as we are actually supposed to be cutting costs by 10% and it had to be signed off by our chief exec (we have 40000 employees in the UK alone so this is quite a big deal)

    3) Took a lovely mackeral salad into work for lunch... yum yum... but just had to buy a slice of carrot cake which was gorgeous

    4) The lovely lady from the fancy dress hire shop has been so flexible about my returning the 20's dress I wore to my brothers birthday party... and has said to just pop it by when I am next in the neighbourhood.

    5) A colleague brought back some fudge and biccies from Wales for us... YUM!

So all in all quite a good day... except for the "ladies checkup" which is never much fun. I took some ibuprofen before hand though which made it a lot more bearable. Sorry that was probably far too much information. Oh - and I had to laugh while I was having the check up... the song on the radio was Kings of Leon - Sex on Fire... (not that that was why I was there!)

    Have a great evening...

    L
    Man plans and God laughs...
Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

    Evening all.

mineallmine - I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. Hugs to you at this difficult time.

    My five for today:

    1) My flat had its annual gas safety check this morning so I got a bit of a lie-in, then a pleasant morning mooching round at home. It was the usual "he'll be there between 8 and 12.30 malarkey, which...

    2) gave me the chance to get another batch of towels washed and out on the line (and a good thing, too, as it's turned into a not-very-nice evening here ).

    3) Had an 'interesting' discussion with a customer services rep from Milk&More about the fact they'd refused to honour two promotional codes I'd used over the past month. Apparently I'd breached the terms and conditions of use, but she couldn't tell me where the T&Cs actually were so I could read them. She eventually agreed to accept the £5 off code I got off MSE, which I think is about the best result I could have hoped for in the circumstances.

    4) Cuddles with my puddy tat when I got home - he acted like he hadn't seen me in weeks. Strange creatures!

    5) HM herb focaccia tonight. (Well, hopefully - I haven't tried it before so I hope it works.)

    Have a nice evening, all.
Back after a very long break!
